Pompeii. The History, Art and Life of the City.

The Hot Wheels in the corner is for scale. This book is massive. But the color full page pictures are breathtaking. It’s so big that it’s very heavy and that makes it hard to hold. I do not have room to lay it out anywhere for reading. I might have to take it back to the library and spend time there reading it. I have a fascination with Pompeii and Herculaneum. I got this book thru an inter library loan.

Doorbell does not give me notifications.

I went round and round thru the AI toilet bowl. Nothing appears to be wrong with the ring doorbell nor my iPhone 17. However yesterday AND today, I got packages that need a signature. I can look in the app and watch the people who came to the door, and watch them press the button, and hear the message. But at no time did I receive any type of notification. Even tho everything is on and everything is exactly as it should be.

Anyone else still watching Carson?

It’s late at night and I am watching The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. It’s November 21, 1974. The quality is fair, considering the technology we had then. And the original commercials are interesting. (YouTube is the only streaming service I pay for so there’s no modern commercials when I watch Carson.) Am I the only one retreating into her younger days late at night?

Daphne and Me: book by Jane Leeves

If you go over to Jane Leeves Instagram, or probably her other social media too, there is a video explaining the new book and how you can get a signed copy.

What is the deal with compression socks?

Do you wear them every day? For the whole day? Do you wear them to bed? Do you only wear them sometimes? Are they helping?

Somebody ended it today. On the corner of Wabash and Mentone Blvd near the Starbucks.

My left calf failed me while I was putting my pajamas on!!

Down I went! It feels like I assume it would feel if I’d been shot in the leg with an arrow. Extreme pain! My calf is hard now and the pain is searing even tho I have tramadol in me (which I take for my back.) I have put ice on it. I have tried my TENS unit on it. Nothing has helped and I cannot walk! I will go to Urgent care tomorrow. I have never experienced anything like this at all! I don’t even know what to think! Have any of you had your calf fail for no reason?

Moving violation in San Bernardino County

So my husband got a ticket in Yucaipa for not using his blinker. He is 79, doesn’t use the internet and can’t hear on the phone. So I sent in a request for a fine reduction and payment plan for him. 30 days ago. The email they sent back said they would let us know but if they didn’t to call them. We never heard anything from the court so I called but they closed at 3. I tried the website but I couldn’t get any information from there either. Has anyone here on this sub gone through this, and how did you get it resolved? (I know y’all mad at him for not using his blinker, trust me, you’re not as mad as I am. Cuz I’m the one who is having to deal with all of this. He doesn’t do technology.)

Are all the Vons closing?

I tried to go shopping because Vons has their $5 Fridays. There’s only one Vons left, it’s the next town over. They never open more check stands anymore. So the line wrapped around the Starbucks and out the door. I left, with no groceries. There was no one working the deli. One person working a register. And the self check stands were open but I don’t use those. I think they are sending a message that they do not want us to shop there, that they are planning on closing.

Shooting at Mountain Grove in Redlands

I read a post from Redlands PD about it. The victim survived and they caught the suspect, and recovered the gun. There was also a fist fight in the Ross. The post said it was a “takeover” by teenagers.

Husband (76) got a ticket for not using his blinker.

He got the ticket in Yucaipa, but he got a letter from the court in Fontana. Do you think he can get out of it? He claims he didn’t know he couldn’t change lanes without using the blinker. But he was a professional driver for 40 years so I’m not buying that. He didn’t tell me about it all, I got the mail (which he’s been trying to hide) and saw the letter, so I just found out about it now. (He had a stroke in January, he seems to have fully recovered, but now I’m not so sure.)

Even tho it’s been hot, I think my container garden is doing well.

I water and I feed. I have had some of these for 5 or more years! And some are new but hopefully they will be successful for five or more years. Even my petunias have lasted a few seasons and they are annuals!
