2016 Hatch Cinch Motor and Latch

Hey all,

I recently picked up a 2016 90D. One of the issues when I got it was the hatch was not cinching down. And if you pushed down it wouldn't latch so I had the warning on the dash that the hatch was open.

I ordered a brand new latch and cinch motor. Replaced it all a little over a week ago. Seemed to be all good.

Then today I went to the grocery store. Used the fob to open the hatch, loaded teh groceries, and pushed the button on the hatch. It lowered, but didn't cinch down. I actually didn't notice until I got into the car and it showed the hatch was open.

Got home, tested and it would lower, I could hear the cinch motor running but not pulling things down.

II took everything apart again, all seemed good. Disconnected the black connector and re-connected behind the wheel well. Tested everything and it seemed to be working fine. Tested it multiple times and it pulled things down.

Then, put all my tools away, pushed the button and the hatch lowered, but didn't cinch.

So a bit perplexed as to the issue.

Any thoughts?

Hatch Trim Re-Install after Cinch Motor Replacement

Hey all,

My cinch motor wasn't working. Replaced the cinch motor and the latch, and all is good now. But I'm having a hell of a time getting the main trim piece back in place and the clips all aligned.

Anyone that has done this have any tips? I'll be trying back at it in the morning. Had a long day before taking on the project tonight. Figure I can finish it in the morning and move on to the door handle repair.

Level 1 Charging at 16A

Hey All

I recently picked up a 2016 Model S.

I have a dedicated 20A breaker feeding 2 outlets. I bought the 5-20 adapter for the Tesla charger so it can go at 16A

I'm debating if I install a Level 2, but my breaker box is full, so I would likely need to do a sub panel. I do have free super charging, and the nearest charger is like 10 miles away, so not terrible to get too. But curious how others have faired with using mostly Level 1 Charging.

Thanks

Picked up a 2016

Just picked it up this week. 2016 90D, MCU2 upgrade, free supercharging. 172k miles. Battery is a bit degraded, at 85% is showing 182 miles.

Rides and drives well. Wish I would have gone electric sooner.

2019 Buick Enclave Front Turn Signal

Hey all,

We just picked up a 2019 Buick Enclave, AWD with the 3.6 and 110k miles.

The front left turn signal is not working. Replaced rhe bulb and still nothing.

All other turn signals work. Wiring harness looks good. Need to find my DMM for some trouble shooting still.

Car is super clean. Any tips on what to look for. Pics of the light in question and the other side for reference.

Talk to me about the GMT900 Escalade

We currently have a 2018 Lexus GX460. We moved from a Buick Enclave to the GX. The GX is nice, but I think the Enclave fit our family needs better. Only bought rhe GX because we got a good price on it from a family member.

We feel the GX is a little small, and the 3rd row is laughable for hauling kids around.

I have always liked the Escalades abd Denalis. I have a GMT400 Tahoe Limited, and like temhe size and roominess.

We own the GX outright, so we could sell it and buy a descent Escalade.

How reliable is the 900 series? I am a GM fan, and they seem to go for ever. Is there stuff to look out for specifically on the 900?

Help with cooling system - Radiator hose blowing off, pressure test and block test passing

Needing Help

2018 GX460 4.6L V8, 101.7K miles.

Replaced the radiator a couple of weeks back.  New radiator w/cap, hoses, thermostat w/housing, coolant.  All procured from Bell Lexus, picked up in person.

Finished on a Sunday, drove the truck around in the AZ 115°F heat, no issues.

The day after, my wife was driving the car and the lower radiator hose blew off the radiator.  Had to get the car towed home.

I got things reset, re-bled the system all seemed good.  Let the car sit till the weekend, as I didn’t have time for it.

Took it on a short drive, and the hose blew off again after ~3 miles.

Just today, 23 August 2026, I pulled the lower hose, and installed the one I removed.  The new one looks like it is bulging a bit.

I did a radiator pressure test, held pressure for 10 minutes, no issue.

I bought a block test kit.  Got the system filled, mostly distilled water, let it warm up to operating temp, running the engine at ~2K rpm to get it warmed up.  Block test not showing a blown head gasket.

When I push the gas, and rev it there is some geysering in the fill funnel.  This seems not normal to me.

Thoughts on next steps?

For those that have LS Swapped, was it worth it?

2000 Limited, 212k miles. Still runs and drives, but it's feeling it's age. Been debating a new engine. The 5.7 has been good, can't complain.

Curious, for those that went with a LS, either 4.8 or 5.3, was it worth it?

I don't care much about speed or huge power numbers. Just reliability. Would be nice to get 22ish at highway cruising, best u have ever done is about 19.8.

AC Leak - Quick Caps

My system has a leak, and I have not been able to find it. I am pretty sure it is just shifty Schrader valves. Already replaced them once.

Bought some caps rated for AC pressure. I'll see how well these work.

Engine Block Test - Distilled Water in Cooling System?

2018 Lexus GX460 4.6V8, 101k miles.

Lower hose has blown off twice. I suspect a bad head gasket. I plan to do a block test. If I fill the system with only distilled water water, does the test still work? Or does it need the right coolant mix in the system?

Has anyone pulled the motor from a GX460?

Anticipating the worst on my 2018 GX460 and doing some research. I haven't found any good resources for pulling the engine.

Anyone done it? Best place to get the instructions?

Lower Radiator Hose Blew Off Again - Help Needed - 2018 GX460

2018 GX460, 101K miles.

2 Weekends ago when changing the oil I found the radiator was leaking. Picked up a new radiator (came with cap), upper/lower hoses, thermostat and belt all from Bell Lexus. Picked up in person, it's about an hour from my house.

Last weekend I replaced all the components. Finished up on Sunday 2 August. System was filled, burped, and drove it around on that Sunday to the store a few times and a couple other spots, maybe 15ish miles in the 115°F Arizona summer heat.

Monday Morning, 3 August, when my wife was on her way to an appointment, she calls me that the AC is coming off/on. The Temp gauge went to all the way cool. She got it to the appointment and shut off, I had to go pick her up. Had the car towed home.

Monday evening I filled with as much coolant as I had and just verified the truck would start. Ran for about 10 seconds.

Tuesday 4 August, I got more coolant from the dealer, that evening completely filled/burped the system. Ran the truck in the driveway up to temp, holding RPM at 2K, running with heat on full. No more bubbles out of the radiator, no white smoke out the exhaust. Was thinking I dodged a bullet.

Let the truck sit the rest of the week, didn't have time to do anything else.

Today, Saturday 8 August, went out this morning, put the skid plate back on and the air dams. Started it up and took it on a short trip of about 4 miles.

Radiator hose blew off again.

While I am confident I put it on right the first time, I was doubting myself and thought maybe I fucked it up. This time I can say with 100% confidence that hose was on correctly.

I'm starting to wonder if the leaking radiator was a red herring for some other more serious issue with the truck.

It's going to have to sit for a while, have some work travel.

Any input/advice is greatly appreciated.

So...probably a new engine, right? Lower hose popped off

Replaced the leaking original radiator on the GX460 yesterday, 101k, 2018.

Burped the system in the driveway, ran up to temp ran idle high to warm it up with the heat on full blast.

Drove probably 15 miles yesterday in 115f AZ heat, no issues. No leaks, all seemed good.

It is my wife's car. She took the kids to school, was on her way to an appt and text me the AC was coming in and out. and she says it sounds funny.

I call her she says it sounds like it's dragging something, ac is off and the Trac off light and CEL light came on. She drove maybe another few miles to get to her dr appt. I went and picked her up, lower hose is off. Had the truck towed home.

Can I pretty much say this engine is now toast?

I got the hose back on, filled it with 2 gallons of coolant and about a half gallon of distilled water just to see if it would start. Cranked long but fired up, but I only let it run for a minute.

2000 Tahoe Limited Blend Door Actuator / Warm front AC

Hey all,

About a week ago driving home from the airport my AC out of the dash wouldn't get cool. Meanwhile the rear AC was spitting ice cubes.

It seemed I could mess with the temp control and take it off max cool and it would start to get a little cool. So I was assuming it's the actuator.

Pulled the dash apart to get to the actuator, and it appears to be working properly, and the AC seemed to be cold.

What else should I be looking for? Or could this be an intermittent actuator issue?

I couldn't actually pull the actuator. There is a metal bracket right in front of the second screw.

It's a terrible idea, but where do I start?

I know, it will be expensive, I know, it isn't worth it. But, I really like this car, a 2010 Saab 9-5

The engine in it needs to be replaced. It is AWD built on the GM LWB Epsilon platform.

I did see a short of an impala on the same platform LS swapped.

I have found that the ECM in the car is the same one used in the Holden Commodore and Pontiac G8.

Where do I start researching more an LS swap? I am able to do a lot, just not always as fast as others.

Maybe it's just too crazy.

How much coolant?

Going to be picking up the parts for a radiator swal.and tackle this next weekend.

Picking up all the parts at Bell Lexus. I didn't see coolant on the site, but I may have missed it. Will this be something they stock for retail sale? Or do I need to order online and have it delivered?

HVAC Actuators

I went to replace my HVAC actuators, got one off. And the connector is different.

It's a 2000 Tahoe Limited. I suspect the temp actuator is bad as it's blowing hot but the rear AC is ice cold.

Is this an issue because this is a carry over year?

Doing the Radiator - What else to do "while I'm in there"

2018 460, 101,500 miles.

Found out today the radiator is leaking. I was planning a coolant drain and fill, now I'm just planning for the radiator too.

Was going to do upper and lower hoses as well as the thermostat housing. Are there any other gotcha points I should be taking care of?

Thanks

Pretty in pink - Radiator time

Was time for an oil change. I'm on 5k OCI, but at about 5.5k this time. I was surprised by a nice neon pink accent color this time.

Truck is a 2018 with just past 100k miles. Was planning a coolant drain and fill. But guess I get to do a little more.

So I'll do some shopping today. What frustrates me is I can't get Rock Auto anymore in AZ.
