Does anyone here own the Edifier M90? What exactly does the sub out level do?

The options are low medium and high.

What exactly does this do?

Does low attenuate the signal while high adds gain?

Or do both low and medium attenuate while high sends the full, unaltered signal?

There's zero information in the documentation. I contacted Edifier but haven't heard back from them yet.

Has anyone ditched AIO's in favour of air cooling?

I think I'm gonna get rid of my Corsair AIO and go back to air.

I feel like my old air cooler actually performed better, was quieter, and yet still gave off less ambient heat (I haven't actually measured this but just going by how my room feels).

Plus I'm so sick of this Corsair iCUE software.

Anyone else ditch the liquid for air?

So how much do we know about the Smoke & CO2 detector?

A couple of my Nest Protects are reaching end of life soon and I need to find a viable replacement.

I was thinking of just going with the First Alert or whatever Google is recommending now that they've discontinued the Protect.

But as someone DEEP into the UniFi ecosystem, I'm quite interested in this product.

Do we know if it has a "heads up" feature similar to the protect? What about location notification as well?

Something like "heads up, there's smoke in the kitchen" being broadcasted to all the smoke detectors in the house.

I've gone 90% offline thanks to Home Assistant

I have about 60 different IoT and media devices constantly connected to their manufacturer's cloud servers.

Thanks to HA, I was able to block about 55 of them from WAN, making them local-only.

The only way to access these devices now is through HA and if I want remote access I use my VPN.

Not only are all the devices more responsive now, I no longer have to worry about 10 different cloud services, 10 different logins, and 10 different apps. Everything is managed from one single app.

The one major thing still holding me back are my Google Nest speakers for voice control. I have it set up to relay commands to HA but it still goes through Google servers to do that.

Next project: local voice assistant.

Is there any way to add server names next to the icons?

I hate having to hover over 3452243 different icons to find the server I'm looking for. This is so stupid.

So many times I just exit discord because I get frustrated/annoyed trying to find a server I don't even remember the name of.

Looking for a replacement for Google Maps Timeline

is there a way to track location in home assistant similar to google maps timeline where i can see everywhere I went including the paths I took?

I have location enabled to the point where I can see my current location on a map including the history of every GPS update (which I think happens every 5-15 minutes if coordinates change? I'm not too sure how the updating works) but I want to be able to see the entire history on a map instead.

What are some cool automations you've come up with?

Looking to improve my smart home to be more hands-off with automations.

One that I set up recently is to have certain lights flash when someone is detected at the front door.

Another one I like is to have the TV's bias/ambient lighting to turn on and off with the TV.

But these do seem a little basic for what HA is capable of.

What are some of your coolest, or most favourite, or most used automations?

What's the better approach: multiple dashboards or multiple views/subpages?

If you have several users using your HA, do you prefer creating separate dashboards per user, or just use a single dashboard and then use views/subpage visibility to control user access?

I just switched from the former to latter and it seems to be much cleaner this way.

Edifier M90 -vs- Edifier MR5 -vs- Fluance Ai61 -vs- Polk EP15

I mean ES15... this stupid site still doesn't let you edit titles.

The Polk is the only passive one which will end up costing me more due to having to buy a dac/amp, but if it's really SUBSTANTIALLY better than the other 3 then it might be worth it.

My use case is general purpose. Music, movies, gaming. I'm not an audio engineer or anything so I don't care for anything too fancy. I will also only ever use these with my desktop PC.

Sometimes I'll listen to hi-res FLAC files using my headphones, so a hi-res speaker would be nice.

I do plan to get a subwoofer in the future.

Anyway, I don't know which way to go. Anyone who has experience with one or more of these care to chime in?

Push notifications failing for anyone else?

Push stopped working for my doorbell.

I went into the settings and hit the "Test" button and got an error

> Operation failed.

>Device time error. Please sync and try again.

> (Close) (Sync Time)

If I click "Sync Time" a popup with a loading circle says "Syncing..."

Then it says "Sending test push notification..."

And then it fails with the same "Operation failed" error.

The issue isn't just with my phone. It happens with all devices. Rebooting both the doorbell and router didn't help.

Anyone use Newegg for drives?

I can't seem to find a Red Pro anywhere other than Newegg.

I hate ordering online because when I ordered from WD, the drive came DOA because they didn't package it tightly. When I ordered from Amazon, the drive wasn't even packaged at all... just rolling around in the box with a little sheet of packing paper.

What about Newegg? Are they any better?

With these insanely ridiculous prices, it's such a big risk to just blindly trust them.

Which LP sells high germination rate feminized seeds?

I don't want to waste money on a bunch of duds or on some hit-or-miss males/hermies.

Who can I trust to give me 100% female and 90%+ germination?

I was thinking of grabbing this from OCS:

> 'Chronic Tonic x Zombie Kush' by Trichome Hills Corp x Speedwagon Industries

They charge $55 for 4 feminized seeds.

Looking for a used 2022-2025 CX5. Is it worth it to spend a bit extra for 2024-2025?

I think the only major difference is they added wireless CarPlay/Android Auto as well as making it a touchscreen when using those options.

Anything else I'd be missing out on if I go with 22-23 instead of 24-25?

Setting up a new 2x4x6 tent. Do I go with a 4" or 6" inline fan and filter?

Is it worth it to go with the 6"?

I figure with the filter and prefilter cloth cover, the 6" filter will be able to do a lot more than the 4".. plus I can run the 6" fan at a bit lower speed for lower noise and power, yet move the same amount of air.

True? Or should I just stick with the 4"?

Ear hairs.. do you pluck? What's the solution?

The only issue I have with plucking is the possibility of infection or ingrown hairs. But using scissors would be nearly impossible.

What's the solution to remove ear hairs? Is plucking the way to go? Or is there some other solution I don't know about?

Do you guys avoid poultry/chicken?

My cockapoo keeps getting yeast infected ears (stinky, brown discharge) and I'm told there's a high chance it's a chicken allergy.

Apparently this is very common with cockapoos.

What do you guys feed your dogs?

I've already switched to freeze dried lamb, beef, and fish for treats.

For meals, I'm thinking of using Parina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach Salmon & Rice which has absolutely no chicken or poultry by-products.

I was also thinking of switching to a raw diet but I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not.

"Return to monitor point" and "reset monitor point" should NOT be right next to each other

I can't tell you how many times I or someone in the household has accidentally hit reset...
