Dwarves: Idle Battles - Playable in your browser!

I'm the developer of 'Dwarves: Idle Battles', a chaotic mix of real-time auto-battler blending ARPG loot, deck-builder synergies, and incremental progression. Recruit Dwarves, create unstoppable builds, and hurl them into combat!

You can play the prototype in your browser: https://ichbinhamma.itch.io/dwarves-idle-battles

Or sign up for the playtest that's coming to Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4175710/Dwarves_Idle_Battles/

Over 1000 people played the browser version of my game!

I recently uploaded the first playable browser build to itch and it got over 1000 plays in the first 48h: https://ichbinhamma.itch.io/dwarves-idle-battles

I've been working on this experimental genre mashup for about a year now. It's a physics-based auto-battler blending ARPG loot, deck-builder synergies, and incremental progression. Recruit Dwarves, create unstoppable builds, and play your way - from relaxed idle to frantic (auto) clicking.

Dwarves: Idle Battles - An incremental physics-based auto-battler blending ARPG loot and deck-builder synergies

Play the web demo: https://ichbinhamma.itch.io/dwarves-idle-battles

This might be a bit of a weird one as I'm trying to blend many different genres. Also, for it being called "Idle Battles", there is a lot going on - at least at the beginning. It becomes more idle as you play more though.

Description:

Combine over 16 unique classes, each with their own quirks and battle styles. Build your perfect party, hurl them into chaotic combat, and watch the battlefield descend into glorious Dwarven mayhem.

Crush your enemies, heal your heroes, and loot everything that shines! Collect gold and unique gear, then fine-tune your unstoppable warband. Throughout the game your Dwarves will acquire new abilities and become a fully automated raid party.

AI Disclosure: No AI is used.

After reaching over 5000 CCU on Steam earlier this year, the first major Update for my game "Dwarves: Glory, Death and Loot" is out now!

Hi!

I'm ichbinhamma and I've worked on this game solo for over 4 years. This first major update, after the full release earlier in January this year, starts a new Season! A new Season encourages players to start a new clan of dwarves, as only new clans qualify for the seasonal leaderboards - but it's completely optional. All content and personal progress persists throughout Seasons.

The game turned out to be a "relatively giant hit" (source: gamesradar), managed to sell over 300 000 units and gathered over 2 500 'Very Positive (82%)' reviews on Steam (Steam starts showing regional ratings after 2 000 reviews, so this number might vary for you if you check). This success has enabled me to go full time and found my own indie studio (Hamma Studios) last year!

Short description:
Build and command your own party of Dwarves in this mix of Auto Battler, Strategy, and RPG. Prepare formations, assign equipment, and decide the fate of up to 10 Beardlings, as you lead the raid party through reckless runs filled with Glory, Death, and Loot!

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2205850/Dwarves_Glory_Death_and_Loot/

Thanks to my publisher, I was also able to provide ports for iOS, Android and Nintendo Switch: https://dwarves.ateo.ch/

If you have any questions (e.g. regarding beard design choices), feel free to ask!

You are more likely to pick one specific pre-marked grain of sand out of all the beaches and deserts on Earth than to guess a valid Steam key.

Even though I kinda understand it, it's still wild to me how you cannot just randomly guess a Steam key:

XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

A standard Steam key consists of 15 alphanumeric characters (excluding dashes). Using the 26 letters of the alphabet and numbers 0–9 yields roughly 221 sextillion possible code combinations.

After a year of development my new project has a first playable build.

I always loved thinking about builds in PoE or Diablo, but wasn't a fan of having to actively farm the required items. A perfect build for me was always one that (almost) worked fully automatic or with a single (slightly overpowered) ability. So I started working on this game where your dwarves farm for you while you theorycraft and analyze (and sometimes help them out a bit):

- Observe real-time battles with detailed logs and DPS/heal meters
- Choose and combine different classes with unique abilities
- Discover synergies between different dwarves similar to deck-building
- Obtain legendary loot that can transform the gameplay
- Upgrade your clicker powers or optimize your build for idle play

The game is called Dwarves: Idle Battles on Steam.

I'm working on a physics-based idle/clicker game with ARPG-style loot where you manage a warband of dwarves

I always loved thinking about builds in PoE or Diablo, but wasn't a fan of having to actively farm the required items and levels while randomly getting one-shot. A perfect build for me was always one that (almost) worked fully automatic or with a single (slightly overpowered) ability. So I started working on this game where your dwarves farm for you while you theorycraft:

- Choose and combine different classes with unique abilities
- Obtain legendary loot that transforms the gameplay and defines builds
- Discover deck-building synergies without playing cards
- Upgrade your clicker powers or optimize your build into idle play

The game is called Dwarves: Idle Battles on Steam.

Found my first gamedev Reddit post from 4 years ago. That prototype became 'Dwarves: Glory, Death and Loot' and has now sold 300,000+ copies, completely changing my life.

Guess the most important part is to just never give up. The 300,000+ copies were sold across Steam, Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS: https://dwarves.ateo.ch/

Today, after 4 years of solo-dev, I had to hire my first full time employee as the discord reached over 5000 members

I've never liked how most Skill Trees force you down predefined paths - So I created the Rune Circle

With the Rune Circle, your build is defined by the Runes you equip - not by the path you picked. More experimentation. More meaningful choices. More replayability. Every run can look completely different.

Judging by the many 100+ (and even some 1,000+!) hour Steam reviews, players seem to enjoy having that level of build freedom and experimentation long after they've mastered the basics. If that sounds interesting, Dwarves: Glory, Death and Loot is currently on sale during the Steam Summer Sale: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2205850/Dwarves_Glory_Death_and_Loot/

Additional info: Each different path grants a different stat (e.g. Stamina, Strength, ...) and has access to 3 Rune Slots of different types and tiers: There are Offensive (red), Defensive (green), On-Ability (magenta) and Support (yellow) Rune options. Runes have more specific/niche effects, like granting your dwarves a chance to smite the enemy or transforming certain debuffs into DoTs.
The game is also available for Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android: https://dwarves.ateo.ch/

I will never understand the players that put a "not recommended" for an indie game they bought for under $10 and played for over 100 hours...

My "This is probably fine" list contains 138 items. I do indeed hope that this is fine.
