Was that it??

Either earlier on in the season, or in promo interviews, Baylen mentions that they will be getting deeper into other things she struggles with, like bipolar disorder and endometriosis. At some points I wanted to quit watching because of all the forced drama, but I stayed, waiting for the storyline to shift. Next episode will be the end of the season, and now I’m looking back confused.

Was the struggle with bipolar storyline (I don’t know a better word to use) just her forgetting her meds when going to Myrtle?? And endometriosis; was that just going to the doctor and kinda getting a whole lot of nothing?

It’s frustrating that this season is just wedding planning and family drama. I’m interested in Baylen’s story because I’m someone who struggles with many chronic physical and mental health conditions, and I see myself in her in many ways. I just wish there were more a focus on disability advocacy and acceptance, which used to be something Baylen seemed passionate about. But I guess that probably doesn’t bring in the views (and $$$’s).

Alan’s tie pin

I noticed Alan had a blue ribbon pinned to his tie, and later he shows it to Baylen. I don’t know what it stands for, but it seemed so sweet of him.

What’s up with the freeway signs about drinking and riding being not safe?

I think they say something like ‘it’s never safe to drink and ride’. I’m so confused at what their point is. Like it’s obviously a much safer choice to be a passenger when you’ve been drinking than to drive yourself.

Is my ficus happy?

Tag says it’s a curly ficus, but the new leaves are coming in normal. There’s also some weird spotting on the older leaves and 2 browned leaves

How to use now that I’m single

My boyfriend got me this hand mould kit for Valentine’s Day. We never ended up doing it together, and broke up. Any ideas of fun things I could use this for? My only idea is to make middle finger statues and gift it back to him, but that seems like a waste.

1000 yd stare/dissociation a narcolepsy thing?

So I’ve been picking up more hours at work, and therefore am using my brain for tasks more than usual. I’ve noticed myself going into autopilot when interacting with customers, and sometimes I’ll mess up my ‘script’ by saying a phrase at the wrong time of the transaction. I also will feel dissociated, like I can’t focus my eyes or snap back to the task at hand. Lately when I get off of work, I’ll sit in my car for a while zoning out (usually on my phone) before I drive home, and sometimes sit in the car for a bit before going inside.

I’m curious if other people experience something similar to this and/or think this is narcolepsy related. It doesn’t feel quite like brain fog, but maybe similar?

3am wake up for a hike?

So I’m traveling back to my home state next week to visit my family, as my sister just had a new baby. One of my friends wants to hang out when I’m back there and asked if I wanted to go hiking with her and a few other people, but they would be meeting up around 3am. I also fly in the night before at 11pm. I feel like it wouldn’t be the best idea to go on a really strenuous hike after not getting good sleep the night before.

In addition to narcolepsy, I also experience dysautonomia symptoms including possibly post-exertional malaise. I’ve experienced deconditioning in the past year due to multiple reasons, and I worry that I am just not physically capable of an excursion like what this one would be.

It would be ~10 miles, taking most of the day, and is rated ‘strenuous and difficult’. It’s been a goal of mine to do this hike, but even when I was more fit, it would be something that I would want to train for. I haven’t hiked in a while, as I’m living in the Midwest.

I feel like I should just decline the invitation, but the “don’t let disability define you” ableist part of me feels like it’s a cop out. I’m being delulu, right? Should I just say no? What do I do??

Also, to add: I haven’t seen this friend in a year, and she doesn’t know about my narcolepsy diagnosis, so I feel weird bringing that up as what feels like an excuse.

Hair texture and routine ideas?

I’m kind of curious if I have any texture in my hair. Am I delusional? Or should I try a wavy or curly hair routine? I want others input before I go out and buy anything (ie a diffuser).

This is my hair air dried overnight (not great, I know) with a leave in conditioner. I don’t have much of a hair routine, I always let it air dry and have only used heat a few times to straighten or curl it. Advice or tips welcome

Clinic closing; still no meds. What do I do?

I posted here previously (I tried to link it, not sure if it’ll work right) about my issues with delays in the process of getting my medication.

My doctor did submit the prior authorizations, and they were denied. Appeals were submitted, but I can’t remember if we heard back on them or not.

My doctor called me and let me know that they were closing the clinic down in less than a month. Basically she kinda just told me good luck with trying to get insurance to cover anything and with finding a doctor that will prescribe meds for narcolepsy (specifically sodium oxybates)

I’m in a more rural area when it comes to healthcare, and this clinic was already 2 hours away in a different state. Before I was referred there, I saw a pulmonologist who specialized in sleep.

Who do y’all see for your narcolepsy? Would my pcp prescribe me meds? Are there any other medications that could help me (specifically with sleep) that doctors will prescribe?

Let me know if you have any experience with this, or any ideas. Thanks!!

Great value organic pasta sauce NOT Gf

Obviously I wasn’t very careful when shopping, and I just picked a product with a decent price. I realized once I already poured it into my ground beef, and I’m too broke to waste food, so I’ll be eating it.

Rag doll cat

I’ve been working on a rag doll cat for my 3 year old niece, as cats are her favorite animal. I lost motivation for awhile, and just finished embroidering the face tonight. She had open heart surgery when she was born, so I gave her cat a matching scar.

Toilet paper recommendations?

I’m looking for recommendations for toilet paper that will hold up long enough to, um, get the job done, and that doesn’t disintegrate as soon as it gets damp. Ladies, I know you know what I’m talking about… 🫥

Recipes or ways to use up fiber supplement

I bought a Costco sized bottle of benefiber after my gastroenterologist recommended I take it everyday. I’ve gotten less than 1/4 of the way through it because I haven’t used it in so long. Does anyone have recipes or ways that they use their fiber that they’d share??

Can’t believe I’ve been breathing that in!

I moved into my apartment about 2 months ago. It was supposed to have been deep cleaned but very obviously hadn’t been. So, I surface cleaned, and have been deep cleaning when I have the time and energy.

Recently, I’ve been waking up with a sore throat and noticed my voice getting hoarse throughout the day and a cough. Today I checked the ac unit’s filter, and it was gross! I vacuumed the gunk and dead bugs off it, but it was still greasy to the touch. (The apartment was definitely smoked in at some point.)

I noticed a lot of dirt and gunk around the frame that I wasn’t easily able to vacuum off. I figured out how to unsnap the plastic frame from the unit and soaked it and the filter in my bathtub. I scrubbed them, and the ac unit, and put it back together once everything dried.

It’s not perfect (the green mold looking spot wouldn’t scrub off) but it’s so much better!! It might be the placebo effect, but I feel like the ac unit is working so much better now too. Either way, it’s such a win to not be breathing in all that weird stuff anymore.

Little boiled potatoes

I bought a 1 1/2 lb bag of mini potatoes to make smashed potatoes. I got as far as boiling them, and then refrigerated them to make later, but I discovered they are a nice little treat. I added more salt than I was supposed to when boiling so they aren’t too plain

On the bathroom floor at 3am: brought to you by my period, ibs, and vasovagal syncope

So I got my period yesterday, and my eating choices have been a little questionable: homemade healthyish bars, cherries, blueberries, half a bag of dill pickle chips, and half a bag of white cheddar cheetos puffs was pretty much it for the day (not a conscious choice, just grazing after taking my adhd meds, so I forgot to eat meals). I was scrolling in bed and felt like I had some gas pain, so I went to use the bathroom. This did alleviate the pain, or at least distract from it, as I had watery, loose stool and immediate feelings of presyncope.

Having a small bathroom was helpful in this circumstance, as I could reach washcloths under the sink, wet them and put them on my neck and chest. Not sure what the science is, but I’ve noticed cold water helps me ‘stay with it’ and not pass out. And it helped. Either that or the praying. I hate passing out. It’s so scary and I get so panicky cuz it feels like I’m dying. It’s so vulnerable too. Once I feel steady enough to move, I laid on the ground and propped my feet up on the tub to help my blood flow. Not my proudest moment, but I texted my ex bf. He was with me the last time I passed out and I just felt so alone.

I knew I needed some Imodium so I wouldn’t hafta keep repeating this all night, but it was down 2 flights of stairs in my bag of essentials in my car. So I braced myself and got it. By the time I got back up to my apartment, I was feeling the need to ‘go’ again, so rinse and repeat the steps above, but including taking the Imodium, and… calling my ex. He didn’t answer as it was the middle of the night, but called me right after. Apparently he had just woken up before I called. Anyways, I guess tonight (this morning) was a reminder to take care of myself, even when I’m going through a lot, because I could be going through even more if I slip up.. lowkey forgot I had ibs because my other issues have just been taking precedence in my life, but yeah. Still hanging out down here till I get the motivation to move, take care of yourselves irritable bowel baddies😘
