A few more questions

why can we not sit or lay down or close our eyes while we pray? do we keep our eyes open when we prostrate?

when prostrating, can you say other prayers than the Jesus prayer? can I just say one prayer and than bow for a long amount of time to meditate on the prayer?

I was baptized in a Baptist church but now I fully affirm and believe in the teachings of the Eastern Orthodox Church, I understand that doesn’t make me a catechumen but what am I? I don’t consider myself to be an inquirer because I already believe in all of the teachings and dogma and doctrines.

when prostrating do I have to face east and bow to an icon (and yes I possess an icon though the feet aren’t visible)

Apologies for the repetitive messages but I have one more question

Actually a few questions,

I was baptized at a Baptist church but now I fully believe and affirm the teaching of the Eastern Orthodox Church, so would that still make me a Catechumen?

I recently saw a horror movie that I didnt know about and it was this terrible film about Satan and Satanism and I feel sick to my stomach now. How do I remove the thougts from my head about satan seeming so powerful?

Can we pray the St Michael Prayer?

when im at home before a meal or before bed, when I pray does it have to be prostrating, kneeling, or standing or could i also just sit or lay down? I go to a Catholic school and I feel like I will be embarrassed if I tell my teachers I have to stand for every prayer we do

Please pray for my two week staycation with my dad.

I have a hard relationship with him but not too bad. Also I saw a terrible satanist horror movie on Thursday and cant get the thought of the devil seeming scary and powerful to me out of my head.

How should I go about transporting my icon?

I am going on vacation and would like to bring my 3x3 icon. I don't want to just throw it into my bag and not worry about it. Should I just put it in a small zipper to make sure it is secure? I am going to put it in a drawstring and keep it in the front seat with me, if that's a good idea.

How does the afterlife work?

So there is Paradise and Hades where people get a taste of heaven or hell and you pray for the souls in hell. So hypothetically if we prayed for someone infamously known for being evil, would they enter Paradise at some point?

Orthodox questions

I've had a lot of posts in the last few weeks on this subreddit but I think it is easier to ask all questions I have about Orthodoxy in one post. This post will likely fluctuate a lot as I delete and add questions to it that have or haven't been answered.

Please note I am Lutheran but am researching Orthodox right now.

Do you just say "pray for us"/"pray for me" when praying to a saint at the end of a prayer?

If I were to become Orthodox which national church would I join (Greek Ortho, Russian Ortho, etc)?

How often do you guys say written prayer versus improvised prayer?

Do you accept the Filioque but just don't say it in the Creed?

Are the prayers of more holy people more effective?

When praying with repition with an icon present, how often should I kiss it?

What do you do if you drop an icon/knock one over?

Do you close your prayers with the sign of the cross or just with the opening? If just in the opening, what do you do for the closing?

How do I make an Orthodox prayer?

I'm trying my first intercessive prayer but can't approach my parents about it because they are hardcore Protestant conservatives. The prayer is addressing anxiety.

Note that I am Lutheran but have felt a large stray from Christ and am trying to get closer by attempting intercession. Please advise me if I shouldn't do this.

Are there any denoms that use the liturgy or church style of Orthodox while still being 100% confessional Lutheran?

I’m LCMS but have been extremely interested in Orthodoxy but not their theology

Why was "the clay steals the clay" so funny to Lazarus?

Also, was what Lazarus saw in Sheol so horrifying that that's what made him not smile again? I thought Sheol was just a waiting place.

Could we take communion with someone from WELS for example?

I always assumed we could as I am a new Lutheran but Redeemed Zoomer made a video saying that we can't take communion with people outside of our denomination even with people we really agree with like WELS or ELS.
