Interesting Flight Route

Looks like N9017L was flown from PHX-VCV. Knowing that the flight number was WN8501, I know it was some sort of ferry or charter flight. Also, N9017L in particular is a brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft just recently delivered to Southwest a few days ago. No idea why it was flown to Victorville, CA though. I know that it’s typically where retired aircraft are stored for parts, but can’t imagine why a brand new aircraft would’ve been flown there.

Cousin Just Had a Baby Boy And…

You guessed it, she had him circumcised…

I’ve always been very curious to see if anyone in my family ever had a boy, if they would be circumcised. Unfortunately, I’m the only boy in a family of all girls. My cousin already had a girl two years ago and just had a boy the other day. She didn’t find out the gender before, so it was a surprise to all of us. I finally got my wish to see if she would circumcise him or not. I didn’t even have to ask. Apparently the baby was weighed incorrectly at birth. She told us that after he was circumcised, they weighed him again and got his correct weight. So yeah, like I said, didn’t even have to ask.

Like I’m surprised, but then again not really. It’s just sad that in 2026, baby boys are still being circumcised at birth.

Comparison of Special Liveries Between the 737-700 & 737-800/MAX 8 Aircraft

Ever since Southwest has started to update the special liveries by repainting them from the 737-700’s to 737-800’s and MAX 8’s, I’ve seen a lot of people go back and forth whether they think they look better on the -700’s or not. Personally, I think most of the updated special liveries look better on the longer fuselage of the -800 and MAX 8. Most recently, Florida One (N945WN, a -700) was repainted into the standard Heart livery. It has been rumored to be returning soon on a brand new delivery MAX 8, N9019R.

I just thought this would be a fun and different post and give an idea as to how the special liveries compare on their different airframes. Obviously, all special liveries are not represented here as Maryland One, Missouri One, Florida One, and Arizona One have not been repainted yet.

Florida One Possibly Being Painted, Returning Soon on a Brand New 737 MAX 8

Yesterday, N9019R, a brand new delivery Boeing 737 MAX 8 was ferried from BFI-GEG. Recent internet rumors have stated that this particular aircraft will likely become the updated Florida One special livery, replacing the previous Boeing 737-700 (N945WN).

So any planespotters out there, keep an eye out to the skies soon for this aircraft! If I had to guess, it will likely be headed to PHX once it leaves GEG in roughly two weeks for make-ready prior to entering revenue service.

I Wish We Could Use Vandy’s Shade of Gold

Vanderbilt football just recently announced new all-gold uniforms for this upcoming season. Their uniforms are Nike, just like the Saints and NFL currently. I just wish we could wear whatever shade of gold Vandy uses because it’s darker and more similar to our Color Rush gold. I wouldn’t really call our current shade gold, because it’s so pale and closer to khaki. Plus, Vandy’s gold is clearly darker which is why they’re able to use white numbers where our gold jerseys have black numbers.

Why is it so hard for us to simply adapt to a darker shade of gold like Vandy? Our uniform template doesn’t even have to change, but we could just adjust the shade of gold. Of course, I’m all for new uniforms as long as they’re similar to our Color Rush.

I just hate seeing a CFB team using a better shade of gold than us. And I know I’m gonna get a lot of comments saying it still isn’t shiny, but we’ve got to accept that shiny fabric isn’t happening in this era of football, so get used to it. The least we could to is use a darker shade of gold to start.

Got to Fly on Imua One Twice Thursday!

I booked myself to be on Southwest’s inaugural LAS-ITO and ITO-LAS flights on Thursday and both flights were flown by Imua One! One of my favorite Southwest special liveries and one I’ve always dreamed of flying on! Definitely a dream come true moment for me especially because I got to fly on it twice!

The inaugural flights were great! Lots of fun, with games, trivia, prizes, snacks, treats, lei greetings, live Hawaiian music and dancing! Another special treat was receiving a printed poster of Imua One during the flight!

I’ve now flown on five Southwest special liveries: New Mexico One, Nevada One (twice), Tennessee One, California One, and now Imua One (twice)!

Thanks for the great flights and memories Southwest and Imua One!

Florida One Getting Repainted

Looks like Florida One (N945WN) arrived in Spokane last night with no future flights scheduled according to FlightRadar24. I’ve seen it a few times lately in person and in photos and it’s been starting to look rough, with faded and chipping paint all over. So it would appear and be safe to assume that it’s getting repainted, most likely into the standard Heart livery since it’s a 737-700 (which Southwest is actively retiring).

Really hope to see it return soon on a newer MAX 8! And on that note, anyone here have any info when it will return?

Favorite Boeing 767 Engine?

I’m aware that the GE CF6 engines were the most popular used on the Boeing 767’s. I work at an airport and most 767’s I see have the CF6’s. However, occasionally we do get some with PW4000’s. I never see any with RB211’s and have probably only seen one in real life. I know they’re very rare nowadays as most 767’e primarily use either the CF6 or PW4000.

While the CF6 is the more popular version, I kind of prefer the PW4000. I like the way they sound and love their distinct spool up sound.

What’s your favorite engine of the Boeing 767?

New National Geographic 9/11 Special Premiering August 21st

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but just saw on Instagram that National Geographic will premiere a new special called “9/11 Reunited” on August 21st. Seems interesting and I’m all about any 9/11 footage and stories I can find, so hopefully this will be good.

What Are Some Good Bangers and Deep Cuts?

I’m sort of a new listener to Billy Joel. Hate to admit that it’s taken this long as I’m nearly 30, but here I am. I’ve pretty much listened to all of The Stranger and 52nd Street albums. Started listening to Turnstiles and Glass Houses. Yesterday I discovered Half a Mile Away and thought wow, this is a banger! And it seems like it’s also a deep cut as well. Safe to say I’ve been listening to it on repeat. IMO, The Stranger and Stilleto are also bangers, but not as deep cuts.

Anyone have any other recommendations for bangers and deep cuts that I need to listen to of his?

40-Minute Turns for 737-800’s and MAX 8’s

I know Southwest has been doing this for at least a year now or so, but I think it’s really getting to a point where the 40-minute turns are just not feasible anymore. Turns times for 737-800 and MAX 8’s used to be 45 minutes minimum and then recently have been as low as 40 minutes between turns. I believe the lowest turn times for -700’s is 35 minutes, correct me if I’m wrong. I’m sure Southwest decided to lower the turn times for the -800’s and MAX 8’s to squeeze more flights into the schedule, but it’s just not practical to me.

Even if an aircraft arrives on time. Say 7 PM and that aircraft has a departure time of 7:40 PM. 30 minutes of that is boarding which leaves only 10 minutes for deplaning and whatever cleaning or servicing in between takes place. I think we all know that it takes longer than 10 minutes to deplane a fully loaded -800 or MAX 8, heck even a -700. I feel like more and more lately I see flights becoming delayed more and more into the afternoon and evening, basically a domino effect. I know weather can be an issue, but I think a lot of it is the quick turns that just aren’t practical anymore. I see most other airlines with ~ one hour turns times between flights which seems more feasible. I just think 40 minute turns are ambitious at this point.

Is it Normal For Elton John Fans to Hate Billy Joel?

Quick question here and I know it’s an odd one, but I have to ask bad on my experience. One of my closest friends is a huge Elton John fan. He’s been to tons of his concerts and talks about him all the time while always listening to his music. Anytime that I or someone else mentions Billy Joel, he gets mad and really defensive towards Elton John and how he’s the best and Billy Joel sucks and how he’s a terrible person.

This friend of mine doesn’t know that I’m a Billy Joel fan and that I personally prefer him over Elton. I’ve found more songs of Joel’s that I enjoy and always kind of thought that Elton came across as a bit of a diva.

However, I think that both are legendary musicians and are both great. I would never say that I hate Elton just because I prefer Billy Joel. They’re both too similar for me to have such differing opinions. I guess you’d think with both being so similar, that most people would enjoy both, but I guess it’s not always the case?

So I have to ask if this is normal? And I’ll be honest that I did like Elton before, but have since sort of gotten tired oh I’m due to my friend always bugging me about him and comparing him to Billy Joel.

Why Does This Flight Have Such a Bad Flight History Lately?

While I wasn’t on this flight today or any of these days for that matter, I’m booked on this particular flight in a few more weeks. UA1960 from EWR-SFO. I always try to book early morning flights if possible since I usually have good luck with flights being on time and early. I know it’s not always a guarantee and things happen every now and then, but it’s known that morning flights are typically more reliable.

Anyways, I always like to check my flight’s history everyday and have been noticing a worrying trend with it being delayed multiple hours many days recently and then even canceled today. 4 days this week it’s been either delayed or canceled which isn’t a promising sign to me. A few weeks ago it was even delayed over 12 hours. I could see if it was a once in a while thing because I know things happens, but the frequency of delays and now a cancellation today has me a bit worried.

Is it Just Me or Does the Airbus A330 With CF6 Engines Seem Odd?

I work a Delta hub and we get a handful of their A330’s. I notice that most of their A330 fleet uses the PW4000 engines, but the other night one departed and seemed to have a different sound than I’m used to. I’ve gotten really used to the PW engines I suppose so I had a feeling something was off. Sure enough, when I looked up the tail number, I noticed that it was one of their few that uses the GE CF6 engines. I guess maybe I’ve never really paid close attention, but it seemed odd to me. I totally forgot that the A330’s have three different engine options: the PW4000’s, Trent 700’s, and CF6’s.

I suppose that I’ve gotten so used to the CF6’s on older aircraft like the 747-400’s, 767’s, A300’s, and previously MD-11’s & DC-10’s. I know the A330 has been around since the 1990’s, so I don’t know why the CF6 looks and seems odd on them. I’m sure that it’s because I attribute the loud engines to much older aircraft, especially since the CF6 engines have been around since 1971.

To me, I prefer both the Trent 700 and PW4000 engines on the A330. But even seeing the engines on other airline’s A330’s looks wrong. But I’m really curious if it’s just me who doesn’t like the CF6 engines on the A330?

Anyone Else Remember The Canyon Blue 737-200?

IIRC, this was the only Southwest 737-200 painted in the canyon blue livery. It was also named after Fred Jones, hence the nose decal. Was there any reason why this one 737-200 was painted canyon blue rather than desert beige, especially since the 737-200’s were being retired at that point. Always thought this particular aircraft was interesting.

Since When Did the Articulated Buses Change to White?

I just noticed this on my recent trip a few weeks ago because I’ve never seen one before. And then I kept seeing them the rest of my trip. But weren’t they articulated buses always silver, red, and black? Now they all seem to be white, red, and black. Quite interesting to me. Did they recently repaint them all?

I Feel Like I Have No Social or Dating Life Because of IBS

I should start with the fact that I don’t think this is solely my issue because I’m a huge introvert so don’t prefer to socialize much or have many friends in the first place. However, having IBS has really made it hard for me to want to have a social life. I always get nervous just going anywhere out in public for fear that I might get hit with a sudden urge to use the restroom. Whenever I know I have to go anywhere away from home, I always make sure to not eat less than 2 hours before going out usually. That’s issue number one. Number two is the fact that I hate how so many social gatherings and events all revolve around food and eating. In my experience having friends, the most common and number one thing to do when hanging out is meeting up to eat or at least eating a meal during some point of the hangout. I wish eating wasn’t such a common social gathering activity. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve flaked on friends or straight up said no to hanging out with people because they either offer to meet up for a meal or because I know it will turn into that.

This leads into dating as well. I’m nearly 30 years old and single with hardly any relationship experience. But something that always makes me anxious is the thought of going on a date with a girl I really like and then having to spend the whole date in the restroom because of my IBS. And of course dates usually include eating a meal at some point. It’s just frustrating.

And the fact that it’s so hit or miss like roulette makes it that much more annoying. Like I could eat the same exact thing twice and be fine one time and living in the restroom the next. It’s just the fear of never knowing how my stomach will react to food.

Anyone Else Not Eat at Work All Day?

I’m sure that I’m not the only one here, but curious to hear your perspective. I’m only 29, but I never eat any meal at work. My coworkers think I’m kind of crazy, but I just tell them that I’m doing intermittent fasting. Thankfully it’s not too big of an issue since I do shift work and we don’t technically get a dedicated lunch break, although there’s always downtime during our shift. I also work overnights which I don’t mind and to be honest, I don’t have much of an appetite in the middle of the night. However, I’ll eat breakfast first thing when I get home from work in the morning.

But I’m always afraid that if I eat at work that I’ll get an upset stomach and be in the restroom for a while. So the easiest solution is just to not eat at work. Plus, I also don’t want to have a lot of gas which is another issue I have. While it’s not common, whenever there’s times where our work provides a meal or food, I’ll eat, but not much and just play it off as I don’t have much of an appetite.

But anyways, I’m just curious how many of you don’t eat at work because of your IBS and is this common?

Anybody Else Think This Live Version of “Movin’ Out” is Better Than the Studio Version?

Came across “Movin’ Out” two days ago after recently starting to dive into Billy Joel’s songs (see my post from yesterday). Anyways, Movin’ Out has been on repeat since the other day. While I love the studio version, i cant quit listening to this live version from Long Island. To me, it’s almost better than the original studio version.

Anyone else agree?

Just Recently Started Listening to Billy Joel!

I’m a 29 year old guy and I’m a little embarrassed to say that I’ve just recently started listening to Billy Joel’s music. Not embarrassed in a bad way, but that it’s taken me this long especially since I’m from the USA. Now, before I say more, I should mention that yes, I’ve heard Billy Joel’s songs before, but mainly just his more popular hits like Piano Man, New York State of Mind, We Didn’t Start the Fire, and Uptown Girl. While those are all great (and catchy) songs, I never actually dove more into his albums and other songs.

Now you might ask what made me just start diving into his music finally? It’s actually not what you think. My supervisor is actually a HUGE Elton John fan. Like HUGE. Has been to tons of his concerts and knows like all of his songs. What’s even more ironic, is that he’s from Long Island, NY. The catch… he hates Billy Joel. Always talks bad about him and his music. Him and another coworker of mine butt heads a lot comparing the two as the other one loves Billy Joel. While I’ve heard lots of Elton John songs and enjoy them, I just had to listen to Billy Joel of course fully expecting his music to be garbage. Well, not the case at all.

The other famous Billy Joel song I always hear people refer to is Scenes From an Italian Restaurant. So that’s where I started. Instantly, it got stuck in my head and I started playing it on repeat. Next I found Zanzibar. Once again, hooked and started paying it on repeat. Tbh, I was jamming to that one. Next up, Stiletto. Also Hooked. Then Vienna, The Stranger, and She’s Always a Woman. She’s Always a Woman is definitely more on the slower side, but still imo a beautiful song.

So then I saw everybody saying how great of an album “The Stranger” is so I decided to just play through the album from the beginning. Holy cow, Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song) is my new favorite! I’ve been jamming to that on repeat for 24 hours straight now! Where has this music been all of my life?! I know Elton John is an icon, but man Billy Joel’s got some real hits and bangers!

I know I’ve only scratched the surface of his music, but I’m really enjoying finding hit after hit of his. Just thought I’d share this! Let me know some of your other favorites of his that I haven’t listed here if you want!
