Why convenience store is very poor quality in sg

Familymart is very big in thailand, taiwan, malaysia, vietnam but not yet open SG. The foods quality is much higher. The onigiri and sandwich is frozen solid and taste bad in sg. Thailand family mart have oden, japan one has hot food too.

The 7-11 in sg is poor quality compared to other countries.

The 7-11 in sg is more similar in quality to USA than asian countries.

Even in china have family mart and lawson, all make hot for you and good service.

The staff combini in sg also not trained well. Always rude and black face, When you ask for something they get grumpy and sigh and just nasty service.

Also the cost is high and items limited

Is obon chinese in origin?

In chinese culture there is ancestor worshipping and burning joss items and papers, leaving offerings on the floor something called “hungry ghosts festival”. Where the gates of hell open and spirits come out to look for food

Ive seen that alot in malaysia and singapore, people left food on the floor, burning joss sticks and paper

in same period as obon

RABAUL japanese “ colony”

Japan had around 100,000 troops in the Rabaul area by 1943–44, making it one of Japan’s largest concentrations outside the home islands.

After the Allied advance through the Solomon Islands and New Guinea, Rabaul was strategically bypassed rather than directly invaded. Thus, the japanese were trapped

Allied air and naval forces cut the Japanese off from regular resupply and reinforcement.

The Japanese therefore remained in Rabaul for the rest of the war, even though the base was no longer capable of effectively supporting Japanese offensive operations(neutralized). It was also used by US for target practice as it was a neutralized japanese base.

They constructed an enormous network of tunnels, caves, underground hospitals, storage facilities and defensive positions around the volcanic terrain.

Food became increasingly scarce. Japanese troops cultivated gardens and farms, raised livestock, and relied on whatever local resources they could obtain.

Disease and malnutrition became major problems, although Rabaul’s situation was considerably better than some isolated Japanese garrisons elsewhere because of its relatively large agricultural resources.

Allied aircraft continued bombing Japanese installations, but there was no major Allied ground invasion of Rabaul.
When Japan surrendered in August 1945, approximately 100,000 Japanese personnel were still in the Rabaul area.
They surrendered to Australian forces in September 1945 and were subsequently transported back to Japan.

Is this kind of Fk up singkie boss very common ???

In years of employment i met many of similar types of this kind of idiot boss… some on the SAF as an NSF then government, then private employment

The boss is middle age male singkie, very strong singlish accent only speak mostly hokkien but mix mandarin and english constantly. Even professional meetings cannot stick to one language and used singlish on foreign employees.

Very kiasu, alot of shit he say is damn annoying cos alarmist and kiasu, just feels v stupid cos it seems he just wanna protect his own position and dgaf about staff

Says taking MC is “no good”, “uhh you on probation leh why u take MC” And when he sick, he does not take MC and proceed to cough and sneeze and spread in office

When we go for training course he discourages cos not in office… also dont allow us work from home cos “must show face” in office to big boss.. wtf

He will set many many many meetings, talking nonsense, set very early in day or very late in work day going past 6pm… end up we have to rush in morning to go meeting or OT just for meeting.. sometimes eat into lunch also

Take leave he will approve but keep comments “ oh u going on leave arhhh! Wah!!”

Kiasu Statements like “ die die must do by today” for some low priority tasks

he will OT even tho its unpaid and he not doing anything
“ must show face in office” to boss

Totally no IT skill. Always have struggle with IT, but dont want to improve . When I use AI for some technology efficient idea, he will shoot it down as risky or what, he prefer to do things by one by one, excel , traditional method as it feels safer to him…its Very very slow and stupid

Why japan loves america even though america bombed japan badly and killed japanese civilian

I know Japan lost the war under US terms

but why Japan today opinion of US is high and young people seem to like USA

Even tho US military dropped atomic bomb and also fire bombed japan cities which killed hundreds of thousands japanese civilians.

Like march 10 1945 when USA firebombed tokyo and killed 100,000 japanese civilians.

More civilians were killed in U.S. conventional bombing than atom bomb

Estimates for the total number of Japanese civilians killed by the United States strategic bombing campaign during World War II range from 241,000 to 900,000, with the most widely cited historical consensus—including the U.S. Strategic Bombing Survey—placing the total between 330,000 and 500,000 civilian deaths.

Operation Meetinghouse (Tokyo, March 9–10, 1945): The single deadliest air raid in human history. Over 2,000 tons of incendiaries dropped on densely populated, wood-and-paper residential sectors triggered a massive firestorm, killing an estimated 80,000 to 100,000 civilians in one night.

Japanese did not improve much before coming to Japan

I am singaporean, ethnic chinese and have studied Japanese for 6-8 years. But i feel i have made only slow progress

I failed n1 3 times before i finally passed by a few marks, then came to japan, but when i came to japan and got a Job in 100% Japanese environment then i realised how much i suck and how much I still need to improve to function properly at the workplace. My progress exponentially sped up.

But, after a year, i still find myself using AI translator in meetings cos i dont understand certain parts, feeling very dejected.

I felt I slowed in progress after n2, it felt like increasingly difficult to make progress studying and working in Singapore , where people mostly use English and Chinese (and singlish) mostly at work. I worked in Japanese company but even then opportunities were limited to use japanese

I think its so difficult, feels impossible to learn Japanese outside of japan, especially past around n2 level. Classes didnt feel very effective and were expensive. Also, classes focus on the test and not functional use… which requires using it to begin with… main thing; it takes effort to actually find opportunities to use it

In Japan, the media, environment, everything forces you to use it everyday. I think the fastest way is to force yourself to use it in Japan itself, and just embrace the suffering of learning
