Some things you should know when investing in slabs

Curious to know what else other people can add, but i've been buying slabs since 2023 and this is what I've compiled in terms of things to look for or know beforehand given some mistakes and learning over the past few years:

  • BGS Black Label 10 > CGC Pristine 10 > BGS 10 > PSA 10 > BGS 9.5 > CGC 10
  • Always verify the card cert # first via the PSA app or CGC website
  • Cards below cert number 60 million for PSA do not typically have a photo scan for them in the PSA app unless it gets re-shipped to the PSA vault to be scanned.
  • Use the ebay filters to ensure card language and card grade is accurate
  • Check to see in the PSA app the different versions of the card; many card promos get reprinted, and the promo that the card comes from really does make a difference in terms of price
  • CGC does not make a difference when it comes to certain reprints- they label the card with 1 label. An example would be the Rayquaza #SWSH029 black star promo re-used in rebel clash and Sea & Sky. PSA on the other hand makes distinct labels per re-print.
  • For some blue label CGC slabs, the QR code does not properly navigate to the new website because it directs you to comics and not cards. It does not mean the cert doesn't exist, but you must check by manually typing the number.
  • Reverse Holo > Holo as a genreal rule. Reverse holos come with a stamp.
  • know pre-release vs pre-lease staff vs pokemon center exclusive cards
  • Shill bidding on ebay- as people have recently mentioned, the (XX) number next to people's name indicate how many sellers have provided feedback to that person. a 0 or very low number indicates a new account and most likely fake bids!

Let me know what else you fellow slab collectors have to mention!

Which CSU instructor lead 200-level courses are actually useful?

Relatively new to CS and trying to get my hands on NG-SIEM. For those that have taken the instructor lead courses (the 8 hour ones), which courses were actually useful? My experience I'd say is between CCFA and CCSE certification

I've had roughly 3-6 months on the platform, but went on a hiatus to take care of some other things. I just feel like there is never ending modules in this platform...lol

Anyone else pivoting from sealed to slabs?

Since 2023-24, getting product was pretty obtainable. But ever since prismatic has dropped, i have never seen it get this bad before. Given how easy slabs are to acquire and sell, I feel like slabs have begun to appeal me more. Now you're paying 4x more of MSRP for release on a product, which as an entry point is horrible for an investment.

Not to mention: exit plan. Alot of us here seem to not know when to exit or how to sell their stuff. With slabs, it's as simple as listing it via PSA vault or some other trust worthy ebay to take care of everything for you

Why can't CS EDR and Defender both be active at the same time?

Can someone give an easy to read, yet technical detailed (like a paragraph) explaining why CS EDR and MS Defender both can't be active AVs on a single end point?

So far I've had written that: it has to deal with Defender going into passive mode once another AV solution is detected, and that it's because they install kernel-level drivers. But beyond that, I am not sure how to explain it in detail.

Anyone here work at CS or is sysadmin and understands how it works at the technical aspect?

is it true that they rip your boarding pass?

For the snoopy promo, do they rip your boarding pass? I'm seeing videos where you only keep the small stub; I kind of wanted to keep it as a souvenir

AD shaco just feels so much more consistent

As someone who played 95% AP, I've been playing AD to test it out and i lowkey see why people say AP is useless; obviously the major factor is landing your backstab to 1 shot opponents, but i've been able to snowball much better with AD.

Voltaic -> Glaive or Yommus (I like the extra speed with Q) -> Collector

Unless i'm against 2 tanks like a sejuani, I've been really liking the build so far; personally I always path top to bot regardles of comp and go blue pet.

Moving out cured my insomnia

I don't want to write a long story bc I know most people will not read it but in short:

  • No naps
  • wake up same time every morning
  • Derive your attention away from insomnia

insomnia since 2015 in highschool, 3 am awakening almost every day. Moved out this year 2026 and it's been fully cured. I'm a relatively healthy, skinny male in my mid 20s and this truly showed to me how this was all a mental thing all along.

Went to doctors maybe 20 times a year to get blood, oxygen, ct scans, lung tests, etc. Trust me, my doctors hated me lol. I eventually gave up on going since it didn't help.

I believe that by living with my parents and working from home, there was nothing more on my mind than the thoughts and anxiety of the issues sleeping every night. Essentially, I feared my bed. Even though I still work from home, the thoughts and focus towards sleeping has shifted completely now that I have moved to a completely new environment.

I 1000% refused to take any pills/doctor prescriptions btw. I personally don't recommend them as the side effects are not worth it, but to each their own.

Attention to insomnia is what fuels the flames to it. I'm not going to sit here and tell you to just "forget about it" as someone whose been told that for 11 years, but the best way to cure it is to somehow derive your attention away from it, whatever that takes. For me, it was moving out, regardless of the money it'd cost me.

Here's an article I came across which really opened my eyes on the issue: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/first-person-insomnia-saniya-warwaruk-1.6573785.

good luck everyone <3.

Optimizing Starlux purchase

Since it's a little too late for me to use Alaska Atmos points for a trip in 6 months, I was curious to know are there any other ways to optimize your purchase to either increase rewards or reduce cost of the ticket? Things like using a specific credit card, cashback, coupons, rewards, etc.

E.g an example would be buying the ticket through alaska airlines compared to starlux to get alaska miles, since cosmile miles won't serve me much use.

Seems like all the discount codes exclude december travel, but it was interesting to see that the Dodgers as their partner had a 15% discount code at some point. I was heavily considering on using 100k chase points to buy a seat to reduce my cost, but i feel it's not worth the risk with an international flight

Premium Economy experience

I am thinking of visiting taipei to visit family for the snoopy promo and I’m debating between premium and regular economy. I was originally going to book economy until I read that you cannot even buy wifi with regular economy?

I am flying from SFO; any tips on where to or not to book? Going during christmas

also how was the wifi?

Edit: Looks like when u book premium economy is shows the price Per way...not the total round trip. What a dissapointment

Westin Anaheim Review

Went for 2 days for disneyland; in short:

-Hospitality was amazing. Did room service for the $100 credit for me and my mom and no issues hitting the spend
- No issues booking or checking in via chase travel. credit applied immediately
-Food buffet is mediocre even though it’s complimentary. Lots of dairy options, eggs, bacon and fruit
-Room service food was delicious! Got asian chopped salad, burger, and their turkey sandwich
-Parking is a little pain as you have to go up to 4-6 floor for garage, but other than that it’s very spacious
-Welcome gift was some dried fruits and nuts
- Top floor roof was beautiful at night
- The walk to disney isn’t bad, but you’re suggested to route through disney downtown and then into the park. Probably 20 mins max

Even though I don’t plan on ever going back to disneyland, I would go to this hotel again. Felt like being at home!

spent a day in DCA - Los Angeles and felt like it was not worth it

Compared to disneyland, i have to say this was quite underwhelming

-Bought the multi pass to later realize i didn’t even need it. I could everything by just waiting in line
-Only 2-3 real rides (guardians and incredicoaster)
- guardians made me feel extremely sick after
- the incredicoaster gave me this insanely weird sensation in my body where i couldn’t feel my legs for abit
- everything else felt catered towards children

I got bored after 3 pm and left to go eat at din tai fung lol; compared to when I went to disneyland last year, it felt insanely lackluster. If I were to do disney in california again, it would be disneyland 2-3 days with maybe 1 day park hopping

last stop- carnivore sandwich

got “the hangover” breakfast burrito and it looked SO good on yelp photos (as you can tell); but every bite I took i tried to convince myself to like it. not sure if it was the cheese they used, but the taste just felt overpowered with salt and meat flavor. I think either adding more cheese or having some sort of sauce like sour cream would have definitely topped it off + using less salt.

It did not taste well mixed with the cheese; the hash browns had a good crunch however, but overall I couldn’t finish it :/. The staff was one guy working and he was super friendly though

7.5/10. Was only $15 though, so i will say on the better side in terms of value for your money. the quantity will definitely leave you probably wanting to skip lunch.

cost - 9/10
taste - 7/10
hospitality - 10/10
quantity - 10/10

Now off to Disneyland! thanks SD!

Animae review

Taiwanese chicken - good crunch but quite salty
lamb chops - holy tenderism. 10/10
crispy potatoes - great texture, perfect sauce taste, but also a little bit salty
tuna appetizer thing - was ok. $20 for 5 small pieces of sushi that weren’t even the size of normal sashimi
wagyu fried rice - fried rice is fried rice I guess

If i were to go back, it would be just for those lamb chops lol

the vibe there was nice, felt classy and the waiter really took care of you. Wasn’t expecting my plate to be replaced after every few dishes. I wouldn’t say I was blown away but it was very well dining experience with my mother. Yes there is a 4% service charge but tbh I wasn’t stressed as my CSR paid for that

thank you CSR for the dining credits! Reminder you have 2 more days to use them!!!

I would overall give the experience 8.75/10. the hospice really puts it over the top to say nonetheless
