I don't know where to start

Hi everyone! I've dreamed of writing and publishing a book since I was young, and I've been working on and rewriting one particular novel for about seven years now.

I've always imagined myself being traditionally published, but the more I look into it, the more discouraged I get by how difficult it seems. I'm now seriously considering self-publishing, but I'm worried about putting years of work into a book that barely gets noticed.

For those who have self-published, was it worth it for you? And how did you actually get people to find and read your book? I'd especially love to hear from people who started with little or no existing audience.

Really lacking motivation

Hi everyone! I've dreamed of writing and publishing a book since I was young, which I'm sure is a common dream for many of us. I've had countless ideas over the years, but I've been working on and rewriting one particular novel for about seven years now.

The problem is, whenever I look into publishing, I get really demotivated by how difficult traditional publishing seems. I know self-publishing is always an option, but I've always dreamed of being traditionally published, and lately it feels like that dream is becoming unrealistic.

My fear that my writing isn't "good enough" or that I'll never be accepted is really holding me back from finishing. How do you get over that fear? And is it genuinely worth pursuing traditional publishing, or is it almost hopeless?

Primary Bachelor > Secondary Masters

Hi everyone! I’m currently studying Primary Education, but I’m considering doing a Master of Teaching (Secondary) afterwards so I’d be qualified for both.

I’m really interested in teaching at a particular high school, but if that doesn’t work out, I’d prefer to teach primary. Is this a worthwhile pathway, or would it make more sense to just stick with Primary Education?

Classics/older films

Hi everyone! I've been binging early 2000s and modern romcoms for most my life and decided to give an older one a go. I watched It Happened One Night and adored it, does anyone have suggestions similar to this film, preferably much older movies?

Cefalexin

Hey everyone, I'm trying Cefalexin for the first time and have looked up side effects and some seemed quite mild (nausea, diarrhoea, heartburn) until I read some people saying they experienced heightened anxiety from it and worse. What are your experiences with it if you've taken it? I'm feeling a bit nervous

Culture and Marriage

Salaam everyone. I’m hoping for some advice and I hope this is the right place to ask.

There’s a brother I hope to marry, InshAllah, and we’re planning to tell our parents about each other soon. The main issue is that my parents strongly dislike his cultural background, even though I know Islam does not place culture above deen.

My parents are reverts and didn’t raise me very strictly religiously. They believe I should date someone for a long time before marriage, whereas I’d prefer to keep things halal and pursue marriage sooner rather than continue dating.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? And how did you approach the conversation with your parents and help them understand your perspective?

Looking for advice please

As-salamu alaykum everyone,

I'm looking for some advice about starting hijab. I genuinely want to wear it, but I keep delaying it and telling myself I'll start at some future point.

Lately I've found it especially hard because I've already done a semester of uni and very recently started two jobs, so people already know what I look like without hijab. I also struggle with social anxiety, so I'm worried about suddenly showing up wearing it and drawing attention to myself.

How do I stop worrying about what people will think and just put it on?

Thank you.

Software Updates

For some reason, every time a software update comes around, the Wifi on my device stops working completely until the device is updated. Is there any way to update it without hot-spotting myself, as I don’t want to waste data?

Lash Serums

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a lash serum that actually helps lashes grow significantly but doesn’t contain prostaglandins or ingredients known to cause unwanted side effects. Has anyone tried Lash by Maya or The Ordinary Lash & Brow Serum, and would you recommend either of them? Are there any other prostaglandin-free lash serums that have worked well for you?

Rewatching

Hi yall, I'm wondering how long would it be best to wait after watching Gossip Girl for the first time to rewatch it again? I finished it maybe 3 or 4 months ago which is recent but I'm really craving a rewatch of it or diving into something very similar to it.

Can you all please recommend the best seasons/episodes in your opinion? Or shows that are really similar?

Suggestions

Hi guys, I'm looking for movies like "He's Just Not That Into You" and "Two Can Play That Game".

I really liked both these movies as they focused on relationships, specifically with characters discussing relationship dynamics and dating. Preferably comedy/romance.

Any recommendations? Thank youu

Popular romance movies you don't like

I watched Voicemails for Isabelle and was disappointed, especially after seeing how much praise the film got. The love story could've been explored way more, as well as who Wes really is - like we know so much about Jill's life, but what about him? All the info I seemed to gather on him is that his mom is dead and that he has no regard for intruding on a person's business, a grieving person at that. I liked the relationship between Jill and Isabelle, it was sweet, but overall the plot was kinda creepy and I found the male lead off-putting.

This opinion about an older film will definitely be more unpopular, but I recently watched When Harry Met Sally for the first time - and I didn't find it that interesting at all. I see most people call it "the best rom-com". For how hyped it is, I don't see much that is special about it. I was still rooting for them to get together, but something about how their relationship advanced felt somewhat unsatisfying to me.

What are some very popular or highly praised romance movies you dislike or hate and why?

The Kissing Booth

Hi all, I still haven't seen The Kissing Booth despite seeing so much about it online, is it really bad and insufferable to watch as a movie or just cringe? I'm looking for something that's a bit cringe honestly, I don't mind, I want something cheesy and feel-good where I can just turn my brain off (also suggestions please for these types of films!)

Lash Extension DIY

Hi everyone! I'm veryy new to lashes and was hoping for some advice.

I've only ever used glued clusters, but I'm tired of taking them off and reapplying them every day. I've seen people say they do their own lashes at home and they last for several days.

How does that work? Are they lash extensions, and can you safely do them yourself at home, or is it something that should only be done by a professional?

Thanks!

Mahgrib

Hello everyone, I’m sorry if this is a silly question, but I was wondering how soon after Mahgrib it should be okay to be outside? I know that it’s not good to be outside at Mahgrib because of djinn, but does that extend all up until Isha time or is there a certain period of time after Mahgrib that I can be out? Thank you

Secondary Education degree

Hi everyone, I was wondering if it's difficult to get a job as a primary school teacher with a Bachelor of Education (Secondary). I've just started studying Secondary Education but I'm considering primary school teaching as a backup.

Is it easier to get a job in primary with a Secondary degree as opposed to in Secondary with a primary degree? Sorry if the question's stupid but want to know before I decide things, thanks, any advice/personal experiences would help a lot!

Season 4 and 5

Hi guys, I'm watching You for the first time and just finished Season 2, the ending was so intriguing. I've seen a lottt of comments though that Season 3 is "the last good season" and that 4 and 5 aren't even worth watching. Is this true or are the last two seasons genuinely good?
