[Landlord-US-TX] Replace vent hood?

New tenant wants us to replace a vent hood in the kitchen. I have never known the vent hood to work, and if I’m being honest, I haven’t thought about it in many years. It didn’t work when I bought the house when I lived there a decade ago and no tenant has ever brought up the issue in the past so, to be quite honest I forgot all about it long ago.

A vent hood doesn’t seem like a necessary appliance to me so I’m trying to determine if that is a luxury/add-on type item, or something that needs to be replaced. I’ll likely have it replaced, but just wondering what the general opinion was.

Is there a Recycle Bin or Trash on the Shield?

My setup looks like this:

I have a Windows 11 desktop PC, and I also have a 2019 Shield TV Pro with an external USB drive plugged in.

I have mapped by 2019 Shield TV Pro to my Windows 11 PC. This allows me to drag files from my PC directly to my Shield TV. However, I've noticed that when I use my Windows PC to browse the Shield TV's external drive and I delete old files, they do not turn up on my Windows PC recycle bin. Does the Shield have one? Are they permanently deleted? What is actually happening?

Is the summer update live yet?

Sites like Electrek are saying it is “available now” in articles published 4 days ago. But software tracking websites don’t show it in the list of currently available software.

How do I get Kodi to grab and display artwork for external drive files?

I'm grabbing movies and placing them on an external drive. Every few months I clear some files and add some more. To watch content, I typically just open Kodi (on a Shield TV), navigate to Videos and then Files, to view what's on the drive. Currently, this is just a list view. How do I get Kodi to grab artwork and display a more aesthetic view?

Is there a way to circumvent this helper tool install? I don’t have permissions on my work computer and it is preventing me from opening Firefox.

The default visualization screen should have a “Keep” button. I shouldn’t need to navigate to the Climate screen every time I put it in park.

I live in hot Texas. I want to keep my AC on every day when I’m running around and it seems dumb that I can’t initiate the “Keep” option before putting it in park, but after I put it in park I have to navigate back to the Climate screen. So many pointless taps. It would be super helpful to have an option on the default visualization screen. This has annoyed me for a couple of years.

“Dashcam Low on Storage”

I am seeing the message “dash cam low on storage. Delete old recordings to free up space.” I thought the car was supposed to constantly be deleting old recordings to make room for newer ones.

How can I prevent a Shortcut from terminating when the phone screen is turned off? (explanation inside)

I have a shortcut that requires a 60 seconds "Wait" in one of the middle steps. So something like this:

  1. Do something.

  2. Wait 60 seconds.

  3. Do something.

However, I would like to initiate the shortcut and then put my phone back in my pocket. This natural way to do this for me is to trigger the shortcut, then tap the "Power" button on my phone before putting it back in my pocket. But when testing, this Power button tap appears to kill the shortcut and it never completes the subsequent steps. Does the screen need to be on from the start to the finish of the shortcut? Is there a way to circumvent this?

How should I re-add my speakers after buying an Ultrawide?

I bought a 38 inch ultrawide. I used to have my speakers on the sides of my traditional monitor, but now with my ultrawide, I don’t see a way to reasonably add them back. I need my MacBook on the desk since it’s my secondary monitor and I work from home. I have my small form factor PC on the right. I could push my laptop to the left edge of the desk but then it’s pretty far away. Another option is to put the speakers on their sides and place them under the monitor but that’s not a very good angle for speakers.

[Landlord - TX] question regarding washer/dryer

We are renting the property that we used to occupy. Our new home came with washer/dryer so we left ours at the rental property, and advertising it as including washer/dryer. However, we really have no interest in continued maintenance of washer/dryer sets, but we don't want to hassle with removal and sale of them at the moment. I'm trying to articulate how to discuss this with any potential new tenant: the house will come with washer/dryer, but we will not be replacing them if they break. They are only a few years old, and are in good condition, but if they break, the tenant will need to supply their own going forward.

Is this just all a bad idea? I'm also considering selling them (pennies on the dollar probably) and advertising the home as not including washer/dryer. But that doesn't seem optimal either.

Thoughts?

Massive uptick in unfiltered spam email over the past 2 weeks

I really like GMail as it is excellent in filtering out spam messages. However, over the past 2 weeks, I have been inundated with spam email that is getting to my Inbox. All of this spam appears to be the same stuff: thanks for sending your application, application received, get your degree, etc. Same format and topic, over and over again, 10+ times per day. I tried to filter these emails initially but they just keep coming from different domains.

What's going on with GMail that so many emails are suddenly circumventing GMail's spam filtering. I have had more spam make it to my Inbox in the past 2 weeks than the past 10 years.
