To magwell or not to magwell

I'm a pretty casual shooter. Not burning it down by any stretch of the imagination. I'm unclassified (not a member), but based on my scores, I'm high C-low b classish. I'm currently shooting carry optics with a PDP. I'm considering adding a magwell to make my reloads a little smoother. I'm not under the impression that it's going to turn me into Christian Sailer. Just thinking it might make my reloads less bad and help me feel better about my stages.

Also magwells are sexy.

Which Ace VR handset is closest to a PDP?

I know there's an aftermarket PDP one, but I will probably get that later this year. For now, which one would be closest to a PDP? I'm thinking the P320, but the Shadow 2 does have a pretty similar grip angle as well, which I feel like is probably the main feature I should be looking for if I want to maintain a consistent index.

If I'm completely off base and none of this matters, also feel free to tell me that 😅

How important is upgrading budget mag pouches?

I posted yesterday about needing a new belt because of losing weight. I ended up just buying a cheap krydex belt (same one I had but smaller) off Amazon for $23.

Now my question is: should I start upgrading the magazine pouches? How important is it really? I was thinking about starting with one upgraded one for my upcoming match next month. These are the ones I have now. I know they're not great, but I'm wondering how much benefit nicer pouches will provide.

New inner/outer belt for OWB or AIWB rig?

I'm a casual USPSA shooter. I've lost 100ish pounds since I got my first belt (just a cheapo krydex holster) about a year ago. I still have a way to go to my goal, but my belt is officially too big.

I'm debating between three options:

  1. get a DAA lynx belt and continuing to use my OWB holster (but probably then also needing new mag pouches and a holster hanger – I currently use a QLS)

  2. get an AIWB sidecar setup like a tier 1 concealed rig.

  3. use my current IWB concealed carry holster and just get a couple of mag pouches. I carry AIWB with it, but it's not a dedicated AIWB holster

I'm a mid-thirties dad of twin toddlers, so it's not like I really have the time or money to devote to really challenging the top shooters, so I'm kind of leaning towards the AIWB options, though I do really enjoy the OWB game.

Update: PDP slide won't go on after DPT install

Original post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Walther/s/Kt2ykzhfaL

Sent my PDP to Walther last Tuesday. Got it back today in perfect working order. Looks like they replaced the fire control assembly. Guessing it was a lemon but close enough to meeting spec that it took a couple hundred rounds to really mess up.

Anyway. Really happy with the process. Wasn't sure I'd feel comfortable with it, but everything looks good.

My EDC rotation

Just the one. Small enough for summer. Big enough for winter.

I had Walther install the DPT back in January. I've only been able to shoot it a couple of times, so I've only taken it down to clean it once. Putting the slide on the first time was a hassle but not impossible. The fire control assembly seems to not be fully aligned, so I had to wiggle it to the side.

I took the slide off Friday and could not get it back on. A bit of googling indicated that there's an issue with the sear catching on the slide. I am only able to get it on if I use a pin to hold the sear down from the rear while I put it on.

I called Walther, and the guy said he's never heard of that happening and suggested I'm not putting downward pressure on it. I do have a shipping label from them though so I'm planning to send it off tomorrow, but I figured I'd ask if anyone here has encountered this and if there's a simple fix beyond having them do a warranty repair, just because it's a giant hassle (taking the optic off, packing it up, driving 20 minutes to FedEx, having to arrange for someone to be home when it gets delivered or having to go pick it up).

I have a car safe with a steel cable. This question isn't about that.

I'm just curious: are y'all just putting the gun in the safe, or are you taking the whole holster off your belt too? This has made me anxious enough that I just don't carry if I'm going to a prohibited place at any point during my outing.

Taking my Tenicor holster off my belt is a whole process and I feel like would draw so much attention. But I also know that most NDs happen when reholstering. I don't want to feel rushed in that moment.

I have a PDP that I absolutely love. It's my everything gun. Home defense, carry, competition. I had the Dynamic Performance Trigger installed by Walther a few months back. It's incredible. .

However, ever since that installation, it's been a pain to get the slide back on following disassembly. Tonight, it just absolutely wouldn't go back on. After some googling, I figured out the issue is that the sear cage is bad, and the sear is getting stuck in the up position. I was able to finally get the sear pushed down with a pin, and the slide is back on now, but I'm going to need to send the gun to Walther for warranty work. This is apparently a known issue.

I'm really frustrated, and honestly not sure if I will be able to trust the gun moving forward knowing that there is a known issue with the sear cages.

My wife's Glock 19 is going to have to take over carry and home defense while this gets sent to Walther, and I've got half a mind to just get rid of it and migrate to another platform.

My little brother was diagnosed with FAP after being admitted to the hospital with a 4.4 hemoglobin level. They did an endoscopy and a colonoscopy and found some polyps in the endoscopy but way more in the colonoscopy, and they were very abnormal.

From the notes:

"numerous polyps throughtoutr the colon.Biopsy showed:Fragments of tubular and tubulovillous adenomas with focal high-grade dysplasia.

Per discharge note: "He will require outpatient referral to colorectal and hepatobiliary surgery for further management depending on the biopsy result which will be coordinated by the GI team."

I looked at his blood tests and didn't see anything wrong with any of his liver numbers. Why is he being referred to a hepatobiliary surgeon? There was nothing in his discharge notes, clinical notes, or test results that suggests anything with that, so we're just trying to figure out why that referral is happening, particularly since the doctor said they were optimistic and didn't suggest that it has turned into cancer yet.

Thanks!

Is there anything prohibiting one from carrying in a dispensary, provided of course that the individual is licensed and there is no sign on the door prohibiting firearms? The ole' google machine hasn't yielded anything definitive.

This is mostly just a curiosity, as I have just been leaving it at home. I don't consume, but my wife does, and I ride along with her from time to time.
