Got my first 1000 users for my little party game app in 1.5 months!!!

Got my first 1000 users for my little party game app in 1.5 months!!!

This is one of those milestones I really wanted to reach someday, but I had absolutely no idea how I’d get there. I’m literally shaking a little from the excitement right now.

Games like Headbands, Charades, and Truth or Dare are ridiculously competitive. There are hundreds of apps already doing them, but a lot of them felt dated to me. The whole idea behind Who Goes was pretty simple: bring these game modes together in one place, give them a modern, playful UI, and make the app itself feel fun when you’re sitting around and playing with people.

Almost everyone I spoke to told me not to do it.

They said the space was too crowded, that I’d be better off building something else, and honestly, a part of me did think about switching. But another part of me just really wanted to give this a proper shot.

So I started working on Who Goes around two months ago, and I’ve pretty much worked on it every single day since.

Just last week I shared that the app had crossed $100 in revenue, which was already a huge milestone for me. I genuinely did not expect that a week later I’d be sitting here looking at 1,000 downloads.

That number might not sound crazy to everyone, but man, seeing a game I built sitting on 1,000 actual downloads feels insane to me.

And as I mentioned in my last post, I absolutely suck at marketing.

Most of what I’ve done is just showcase the app. A game mode, a small interaction, some animation I was proud of, and then hope it reaches the right people. I’ve posted videos on Reddit, X, LinkedIn, and Instagram and just kept experimenting with what works. It's been fully organic.

Alongside that, I’ve been talking to users, collecting feedback, fixing things, adding new modes, and continuously refining the experience.

So if even one of those 1,000 downloads came from someone who found Who Goes through this subreddit, thank you. Seriously. It means a lot more to me than you probably realise.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this milestone because I’m incredibly happy right now :D

And if anyone here has advice on getting the app in front of a broader audience, finding more people to try it, or even has feedback on the app itself, I’d genuinely love to hear it.

Thank you!

First sale unlocked for my new Mac app!! 🥹

I got my first sale for Arc, my radial menu app for Mac, just 2 days after launching it on the App Store.

I genuinely couldn't believe it when I saw it. This is the fastest I've ever made a sale with one of my apps, and it honestly made my day. 🥹

So far, I've mostly just shared Arc in a few Mac-related subreddits and on X. I've also been talking to people who tried it, listening to their feedback, and refining a bunch of things based on what they actually want from the app.

Seeing someone decide that something I built is worth paying for, especially this early, feels really special. It's a small milestone, but it gives me a lot of motivation to keep improving Arc and see where I can take it.

Anyhow, just wanted to share this little win here.

And if anyone has tips on getting a Mac app in front of more people, I'd genuinely love to hear it. Thanks!

Built a radial menu utility for MacBook after getting tired of jumping between different tools

Really proud to share this finally. Hope you love it as much as I do! I truly believe it has the potential to save a lot of time jumping between various tasks.

Problem

A lot of everyday actions on a Mac live in completely different places.

Opening an app or folder, searching something on a website, taking a screenshot, cleaning up copied text, accessing clipboard history, running a Shortcut, or changing a system setting.

None of these are hard to get to, but constantly switching between apps, windows, menu bar utilities, and different shortcuts can break your flow.

I wanted to see if all of that could work through one system, which is where the radial menu idea came from.

Comparison

There are already some really good radial menu apps for Mac, but most are built around a specific use case, such as launching apps, switching between them, or triggering app-specific shortcuts.

Arc takes a broader approach.

You can create multiple global radial menus for different workflows and decide what each slice does. A slice can perform a single action or chain multiple actions together.

The idea is less about replacing the Dock and more about putting the small things you do throughout the day behind one quick interaction.

Technical

Getting a radial menu on screen was the easy part. Figuring out what actually belongs inside it, how multiple menus should behave, and keeping the interaction fast enough to use throughout the day took most of the iteration.

It's built entirely in SwiftUI. One of the more interesting technical problems was getting the hit-testing right across every slice while keeping the menu correctly positioned under the cursor, even across multiple displays.

Pricing

$9.99 one time on the Mac App Store with a free 7 day trial built in.

Solo project from India, launched yesterday. Happy to answer anything! :)

Arc has become part of my own daily workflow, which is probably what I’m happiest about.

Built a radial menu utility for macOS after getting tired of jumping between different tools

Hey everyone,

I've been working on a Mac utility & productivity app called Arc, and the first version is finally out.

The idea started because the things I use throughout the day are scattered: apps, folders, websites, Shortcuts, screenshots, clipboard tools, system actions. None of them are hard to get to, but doing it again and again adds up.

I wanted to see if all of it could work through one interaction, which is where the radial menu came from. Getting the menu on screen was the easy part. Figuring out what actually belongs inside it, how multiple menus should work, and how to keep the whole thing fast instead of turning it into another heavy productivity app took a lot more iteration.

The thing that ended up working best was letting multiple actions live in one slice. So instead of every slice doing one small thing, a single selection can open an app, a project folder and a couple of sites together, or run any other sequence.

It's built entirely in SwiftUI. [One concrete thing that was hard, hit-testing the slices, positioning the menu under the cursor across multiple displays, keeping the open animation from dropping frames, whatever it actually was.]

Took me a month to get to this point, and the part I didn't expect is that I use it every day now.

Happy to answer anything about how it's built. :D

Got my first 100+ USD from an app in the App store!! 🥹

I finally hit my first $100 in revenue with Who Goes after about 1.5 months on the App Store.

So far, the app has had 637 downloads, which I feel pretty good about. Most of the growth has come from me posting about it on my socials, sharing it here on Reddit, and just talking to people wherever I can.

I absolutely suck at marketing, so most of what I've been doing is simply showcasing the different game modes and hoping the right people come across it. I've also been messaging users, listening to feedback, and continuously refining the app over the last month and a half.

I know party games like Headbands, Charades, and Truth or Dare are an incredibly competitive space, but the whole idea behind Who Goes was to bring all of those games together into one app that actually feels nice to use when you're hanging out with people.

Seeing it cross even a small milestone like $100 genuinely gives me a lot of motivation to keep improving it, adding more games, and seeing where I can take it.

Anyhow, just wanted to share this little milestone here.

And if anyone has tips on getting the app in front of a broader audience, finding more people to test it, or even has feedback on the app itself, I'd genuinely love to hear it. Thanks!

[iOS] Built a party game app because my friends kept ending up on their phones

Link: https://apps.apple.com/in/app/who-goes/id6777402559

Hey everyone!

I recently launched Who Goes, an iOS party game app built for game nights, house parties, road trips, and hangouts. (Free to download and play, with one-time purchase and subscription options)

The purpose of the app is to get all the members of a group to engage in social games like Headbands, Charades, Truth or dare and have a fun time.

The app brings multiple party games into one place:

• Headbands with tilt controls for correct answers and passes
• Charades with themed decks, teams, rounds, and timers
• Truth or Dare with 11 decks for friends, couples, parties, family, and coworkers
• Spin the Bottle for quick, suspenseful player selection
• Would You Rather for impossible this-or-that debates
• Finger Chooser to instantly pick someone from the group
• Quick Play tools for dice, coin flips, and more

I built the app independently in SwiftUI, including the design, interactions, animations, game flows, and content.

The free version includes all the game modes except Would you rather. Plus unlocks all the decks, game modes, and round customisations.

No account is required, and the games work offline.

TL;DR:

A. I built an app to bring back the fun of playing party games with a group of people during game nights, trips.

B. Free version includes a selection of decks for Charades, Headbands, and Truth or Dare, along with a few mini games. Plus unlocks all decks, game modes, and customisation options.

Need Advice - How should I grow my app / reach more audience

Hey all, I released my Party games app, Who Goes, almost a month ago. These are the current stats, I'm getting some new users every day, but the conversion rate if pretty low.

I realise that this app is in a competitive segment so finding users is going to be a challenge, but I'd to know your insights on what should and can I do to further grow my app

Guys, how am I doing? It's been one month since launch

Hey everyone, it’s been almost a month since I launched my new app, and these are the current stats.

I’m genuinely grateful to have made some revenue, picked up a few trials, and reached my first $1 in MRR.

Honestly, I didn’t expect the app to get this many downloads or make any money this early, so even these small numbers feel really encouraging.

I’d love to hear from other indie developers who have been through this stage. What helped you reach more people and turn early downloads into consistent growth?

[iOS] I built Who Goes, to make game nights fun and memorable

Hey everyone! 👋🏻

I've launched a new iOS party game app, called Who Goes

Link:
https://apps.apple.com/in/app/who-goes/id6777402559

I’ve always enjoyed game nights, house parties, and those evenings where a group gets together with no real plan beyond eating, talking, and spending time together.

I started noticing how often the night would eventually split into everyone doing their own thing on their own phone.

Then, during one such game night, we played Charades together. It was simple, but it completely changed the mood. The bad acting, ridiculous guesses, inside jokes, and arguments over obvious answers made that night far, far more memorable.

I’ve been building independent apps on the side for a while, and that night made me realise how many people might enjoy moments like that. So I set out to build Who Goes?, a party game app that could bring that kind of fun into social events.

The idea is to bring everyone together around one shared screen. The app gives you words to act out or guess in Charades and Headbands, along with questions and dares that make Truth or Dare more fun.

Some details for developers: I built the app independently in SwiftUI, including the design, game flows, interactions, and content. The animations are built natively in SwiftUI, and I’ve also used SceneKit and shaders for some of the visual effects.

Pricing: free gives you unlimited access to 3 decks each for Charades, and Headbands. 2 Truth or Dare categories, with limited access to mini-games such as Coin flip, Player Elimination, Randomised Team builder.

Plus gives you full access to all the decks, and categories, and unlocks unlimited access to game modes, allows customisation of games to your liking, along with App themes, fonts etc.

I'd love your feedback. If there's something that's not right, or if you have ideas to help improve the app further, game modes you'd like to see, do let me know.

I just got my first active subscriber & 1$ MRR on my new app

Hi everyone.

I launched my house party / game night app, Who Goes, on the App Store almost a month ago.

Since then, I’ve been slowly marketing it, improving the app, adding new game modes, refining the experience, and trying to figure out what actually works.

Today, I’m really happy to share a small but meaningful milestone that my now has its first active subscriber, $1 MRR, and one active trial.

Someone found the app, tried it, liked it enough to pay for it, and that feeling is incredibly motivating as an indie developer.

Still a long way to go, but this feels like a nice little start.

Just wanted to share the achievement. :)

Finally got my first ever subscription on my new app, Who Goes?

I’ve been building apps since last July and have released three so far. The other two were one-time purchases, so seeing my first subscription come through for this one felt surprisingly exciting.

It’s only one subscriber, but it feels like a small sign that I’m heading in the right direction. My next goal is to reach $100/month, and this has genuinely motivated me to keep improving the app and working towards it.

I’d love to hear from other indie developers who are building subscription apps.

TL;DR:

A. I built an app to bring back the fun of playing party games with a group of people during game nights, trips.

B. free version includes a selection of decks for Charades, Headbands, and Truth or Dare, along with a few mini games. Plus unlocks all decks, game modes, and customisation options.

C. $2.69/mo or $11.99/yr, 3-day trial, and $25.49 lifetime, no account creation, no internet required.
