I really like the use of color in the finale compared to the comics
Vague title is vague because of spoilers, but I really like how the Kryptonian armor is white. In the comics, during Reign of the Supermen (the middle part of Death and Return of Superman), when Clark comes back, he's in a black suit.
Now, yes, there's a diegetic, Watsonian reason for it being black. It's a solar suit. It's helping him get solar energy. Cool. Black suit Superman is iconic for a reason.
However, the Doylist reason is because it was the 90's and "black is cool". That whole run was specifically a publication gimmick to sell comics. Iconic, rad as hell, but a blatant marketing ploy riding on the back of the comics speculator boom. If you're too young to remember the 90's this was EVERYWHERE.
I digress.
However, we already had the "Death of Superman" subverted in the coolest way. Here, however, he gets his power back much like how he does at the end of All-Star Superman and his return in Justice League: One Million.
This is a Superman representing hope. This Superman doesn't need to be "edgy and radical" like in the 90's.
So, instead of a black and silver costume like in Reign, his costume is white and gold. The complete opposite... and, much like in JLA: One Million, he has the gold to represent the power of the sun and what it means for him and his powers.
>!Of course, it also reminds me of the costume from Justice League #21 where it's actually a fake evil Superman from an imaginary future... but we can just leave that one alone unless it becomes relevant. !<
