Lian Li 8.8” Screen + Lancool 217 INF mod help?

Messing around with the 8.8” Lian Li Universal Screen and trying to physically place inside the Lancool 217 INF. The cutout is almost perfect and imo it looks sick inside (see images), but the stock mesh completely blocks it once the panel goes on and ruins the whole dream.

Anyone know if Lian Li makes a full, one-piece glass side panel for this case? I doubt it, so how can I get a custom see-through piece made for the bottom section? 3D print a frame? Custom acrylic? Any modders in here know how to get a project like this started? Hit me up.

PNY RTX 5080 Slim OC review: Massive 4K performance in a true 2-slot design

PNY RTX 5080 Slim OC review:

  • Form Factor: True dual-slot card (300 x 150 x 40 mm). It runs a bit tall, but it actually fits where other massive AIB cards won’t.
  • Aesthetics: No RGB, no gaudy gamer angles. Very minimal, stealthy metal look.
  • Performance: Factory overclocked to 2,730MHz out of the box (boosts even higher in practice). Excellent 4K gaming power.
  • Thermal/Noise: Despite the slimmer shroud, the dual 120mm fans keep it surprisingly cool and quiet.
  • Price: $1,299 (a slight premium over MSRP, but worth it if you need a svelte build layout)

I dont need it, but i want it! Especially since Founders Edition cant be found...this might fill that gap. What are your thoughts on this review and SFF PNY RTX 5080 Slim OC?

Lconnect wont let me change fan settings on newest ver. 2.1.23? Any fix?

Attached screen shot for reference. i've tried rebooting, uninstalling (via Revo) and reinstalling but this issue persists. Better to go back to older version where the issue doesnt exist? Anyone have a fix? TIA!

Your screen. Your setup. Your command.

*NOT AN AD

Some of you may have seen my setup posts floating around recently… and thank you to those who have already taken an early interest or DM’d me with your email.

You can absolutely share interest here, but if you want to be added to the early beta list, DM me your email so I can keep everything organized as this starts moving.

This whole process started as me messing around with my own extra screens because I wanted them to actually do something useful instead of just sitting there looking pretty.

One thing led to another, and now it’s turning into a custom ambient dashboard / command deck for PC enthusiasts, gamers, creators, and anyone who wants their setup to feel more alive.

The goal is simple: Turn any extra display into something useful, interactive, and personal.

Weather, telemetry, media controls, app launchers, news, sports, stocks, quick panels, hidden drawers, custom layouts, themes, touch support where available… basically all the stuff that makes a screen feel alive and actually part of your setup/workflow.

This is still very early. Very beta. Very much being built and refined in real time. I’m not a giant software company. I’m just a PC enthusiast who built something for myself, had people asking about it, and figured maybe this could help others make better use of their own screens too.

The plan is to build this openly with the community, test it with real users, improve it, and keep making it more customizable over time.

If you’re here early, appreciate you. This is where updates, screenshots, beta info, feature ideas, setup examples, and feedback will live.

r/SilentOverlay is simple at the core:

Your screen.
Your setup.
Your command.

Ready to make your screen feel alive?

Follow up post: Anyone following or newly interested this is for you...big update coming to SilentOverlay

**BIG UPDATE on the way....

Been quiet-ish on sending out newer betas as i’ve been knee-deep in building Phase 2 of the SilentOverlay app: a customizable Windows-based dashboard and overlay designed for PC enthusiasts, gamers, creators, and productivity-focused users who want to transform secondary displays, touchscreens, ultrawides, and mini monitors into immersive, functional command centers.

Before anything, I want to me mindful and as always super thankful to the early testers who have helped. Absolutely amazing and much love!!

Now, the original idea started around mini displays, especially the Xeneon Edge, but the bigger vision is way more obvious now and it truly stands by the original mission statement:

Your screen. Your setup. Your command.

What’s coming down the pipeline:

SilentOverlay app is evolving into a full on, display-aware command layer for Windows setups (other platforms, later). CommandOverlay still lives beautifully on mini displays like the Xeneon Edge, but SliderOverlay is now being built for normal monitors, ultrawides, work setups, gaming rigs, secondary screens, or whatever you’re running.

Think quick launcher for apps, shortcuts, etc (tester feedback is proving this is a GAME CHANGER), live weather, media controls, news/glance feed, live channels, overlay controls, and eventually a live stock/sports tickers, system status/telemetry, and deeper customization options with styles/themes, and whatever else the community/myself think is worth the push!

I hate to keep saying i'm still early but it is still alpha. However, progressing faster and better than I had anticipated. I started about a month ago, the foundation is proving to be stable and is working on various builds outside of my control. Still plenty to clean up/add on but dead asssssss… this is starting to feel like a real product now, not just a random dashboard experiment. As mentioned, open to other ideas and feedback

Beta testing is still open and will start actively taking on more interested folks (especially if you’re on Xeneon Edge, mini displays, ultrawides, or multi-monitor setups). Apologies on the delay if you have already requested, i'm still a one-man-band outside of the amazing testers.

SilentOverlay Alpha 0.2.9 ...turning extra screen space into a live command deck

I’ve been building a Windows app called SilentOverlay.

The idea is simple: take extra screen space: Xeneon Edge, mini displays, secondary monitors, ultrawides, touch screens, or even a normal Windows display and turn empty screens and wasted real estate it into something useful instead of nothing.

Right now SilentOverlay can show live info like weather, news, stocks, sports, media controls, volume controls, and custom launcher shortcuts for apps, folders, websites, games, and work tools.

Alpha 0.2.9 is the current stable XE-focused alpha build and wraps up Phase 1: making the dedicated Command Deck experience stable and useful on Xeneon Edge-class displays.

The next phase is what I’m most excited about: SliderOverlay, a side-panel version designed for normal monitors and everyday Windows setups. The goal is to make SilentOverlay feel like a quiet command layer that appears when you need it and gets out of the way when you don’t.

Still early, still alpha, but it’s starting to feel like the real deal.

Beta testing is still open, and I’m looking for feedback across different setups: Xeneon Edge, mini displays, secondary monitors, ultrawides, and standard Windows screens.

*Currently Windows, coming soon: MacOS.

Need testers!! calling all secondary displays, mini monitor or really anyone...

SilentOverlay Alpha 0.2.9 Update

I’ve been building a Windows app called SilentOverlay that turns extra screen space into a live command deck for your setup.

It started with the Xeneon Edge and mini displays, but the bigger goal is to make secondary monitors, ultrawides, touch displays, and standard Windows screens feel more useful instead of just sitting there.

SilentOverlay can show live info like weather, news, stocks, sports, media controls, volume controls, and custom launcher shortcuts for apps, folders, websites, games, and work tools.

Alpha 0.2.9 is now the current stable XE-focused alpha build and wraps up Phase 1: making the Command Deck experience stable, useful, and reliable on Xeneon Edge-class displays.

Current focus:

• Xeneon Edge / 2560×720 stability
• Touch + mouse reliability
• Launcher customization polish
• Media / volume / quick-control consistency
• Real-world tester feedback before broader access

Phase 2 begins with the 0.3 series, focused on expanding SilentOverlay beyond dedicated mini displays into a display-aware command layer for everyday Windows screens.

Early 0.3 work is exploring SliderOverlay, a side-panel experience designed for normal monitors, secondary displays, work setups, and gaming setups without taking over the whole screen.

Beta testing is still open, and I’m looking for feedback across all types of monitor setups, including Xeneon Edge, mini displays, secondary monitors, ultrawides, and standard Windows displays.

**UPDATE | SilentOverlay Alpha 0.2.9**

**UPDATE | June 3, 2026

SilentOverlay Alpha 0.2.9 is now the current stable XE-focused alpha build.

This build finalizes the Phase 1 foundation for Xeneon Edge and mini ultrawide command deck usage, with the strongest launcher customization, icon handling, media controls, display movement, and command panel behavior to date.

Alpha 0.2.9 also improves custom shortcut management, cleans up launcher slot behavior, expands usable icon options, and preserves the stable live dashboard experience testers have already validated.

Current focus:

• Xeneon Edge / 2560×720 stability
• Touch + mouse reliability
• Launcher customization polish
• Command Deck usability
• Media / volume / quick-control consistency
• Display movement and refresh behavior
• Tester feedback before broader access

This concludes Phase 1 of SilentOverlay: making the CommandOverlay experience stable, useful, and reliable on Xeneon Edge-class displays.

Phase 2 begins with the 0.3 series, focused on expanding SilentOverlay beyond dedicated mini displays and into a true display-aware command layer for everyday Windows screens.

Early SilentOverlay 0.3 work is exploring SliderOverlay, a new side-panel experience designed to bring SilentOverlay’s live command layer to normal monitors, secondary displays, work setups, and gaming setups without taking over the whole screen.

Phase 2 focus:

• SliderOverlay foundation
• Normal monitor / secondary monitor testing
• Display-aware behavior
• Cleaner hide / reveal interaction
• Real-world productivity and gaming use cases
• Keeping SilentOverlay useful without getting in the way

-SKK

P.S- Beta testing is still open, and I’m looking for feedback across all types of monitor setups, including Xeneon Edge, mini displays, secondary monitors, ultrawides, and standard Windows displays.
