from my understanding, niu is a chinese company, so i paid no attention to the holiday when ordering my scooter. but now, its been 4 business days, and it hasn’t shipped. wondering if the 4th could possibly affect it. i ordered two scooters, one for me and one for my bestie’s birthday. when i ordered them, it said it would come before her birthday and i had no reason not to trust that timeline, but now im a bit worried.

wondering everyone’s opinions on this

one of my friends, let’s call her mara, she’s supposedly one of my best friends, but we hardly hang out. she has a lot of mental illness so she doesn’t do much but she says she likes to hang out with me, and the last of my parties she attended, she was going to leave earlier on but then her girlfriend came and they stayed all night, and she told me after that she had a lot of fun and was glad she stayed.

now fast forward to last week. i talked to mara and her girlfriend individually about the hangout i was having. mara told me she was available after she got off work at around 1:30, and she specifically said “i would love to” when i asked her if she wanted to come. her girlfriend was more non-committal by saying “that would be fun”, but i figured wtv, at least mara will come. i finished the communication with both of them, and a few days later (yesterday) made a group chat with about 7 people, including mara and her girlfriend.

the first thing i said in the gc was info about what time to come over (in the evening, hours after mara got off work, which i told them both earlier), what we’d be doing and what food we’d have. mara’s girlfriend liked the message. but they never showed up and never said anything to me about it…? mara doesn’t have a car, so i thought she might ask for a ride if she was coming and her girlfriend wasn’t, but the text never came.

i updated the group chat several times about what we were doing, in case they were coming late, but they didn’t. we still had lots of fun without them, but it was a bit sad for me to have my friend tell me she’s coming to my hang, not show up and never text why. maybe they ended up hanging out with one of mara’s girlfriend’s friends, but it would’ve been nice if i was updated on that.

well, silly teens, what do we think happened? i’m curious if there’s anything i’m not considering. currently i just feel like my friend lowk blew me off.

so there’s been this insect in my bedroom for at least a week. i discovered it just before i was leaving for a trip. it flew right at me, i was terrified so i hid under my blanket. while under there, i started googling and im pretty sure its a mud dauber. i have not taken a photo because im pretty scared of stinging insects. i started hearing it trying to escape via the glass on my outside door. i then quickly exited the room, went around the house and i opened the door from the outside, then ran at least 15 feet back. i waited for a bit until i thought i saw it flying away, then i went back in my room to finish packing. i had thought it had left. today, i hear the same buzzing sound coming from behind the blinds on my outside door. as i was writing this post, the bug left the door and i don’t know where it is right now. i want it gone. i’m very scared it will sting me tho. any advice?

last night, my friend mentioned maybe we were going to hang out, or maybe her and her other friend were going to the july 4th carnival. plans sounded very up in the air so i texted an hour ago “what’s the plan for today?”. she just texted back “***** is going to cut my hair and then we were wondering if you’d take us to the store”.

no invite. just wanting to use me for a ride 😐

i don’t mind being the one who drives if we’re hanging out, since i have a car and they don’t, but if im not invited at all…? i don’t really want to take time out of my day to take them to the store, to buy food for a hang out i’m not invited to.

i feel like im being used. this is not the first time this has happened, and ive done it before, but i don’t want to do it this time. any advice for what i should say?

i am 18 and have been volunteering at a summer camp every year for 4 years now. the camp tells kids they can’t bring food…the camp food is really good, i love it personally but if someone doesn’t like a meal, or doesn’t get enough to eat, they don’t have a lot of options…i also understand with things like food insecurity and arfid (which i also have), telling kids they have to go a week without their favorite snacks can be scary. so personally for me if i see a camper with food, i tell them 3 things: 1. they’re not supposed to have it so they better keep it in the cabin, 2. food attracts animals and bugs so it needs to be eaten or sealed properly and 3. if they have anything with peanuts, peanut allergies are really serious and they need to tell me about it now so we can go from there (so far i’ve never had campers with peanut allergies but if i did, i think id make them keep it sealed and put away the whole time, or throw it away if i saw them eating it). personally i always bring some snacks because i do pretty good with eating new things but im a vegetarian and i can’t rely 100% on the camp to provide 16 adequate meals for me all week.

i’m from the pacific northwest, so this is a no-brainer. it rains all he time. i don’t care, im still going to have fun. rainy theme park days are the BEST. wear a jacket and never wait in a line. i’ve waited in 3 hour lines before on sunny days…absolutely miserable.

hi, i’m looking to get electric scooters for me and my bestie (her birthday is coming up). all the scooters in my price range on amazon seem to be pretty similar, and they’re all like 45 inches tall (including wheels and everything). i was wondering if anyone has been able to find one that’s about 51 inches tall for this price?

we want them just for fun, so i don’t want to spend a lot of money or have to do any maintenance on them.

edit: i appreciate actual advice instead of just saying i can’t get an electric scooter for $150. lol. any cheaper options are appreciated.

Hi, I will be having a pool party on Friday. There will be two teams and several small team games such as relay racing across the pool (either on floaties or swimming), knocking each other off of floaties or tug of war with pool noodles, sharks and minnows, cannonball contest, diving to collect the most toys, shooting basketball hoops across the pool, etc. can anyone think of other games i haven’t mentioned, or any fun games you’ve played before at your pool parties? participants will be 16-40 with an average age of 23.

hi! i’m having a pool party on friday. i already have a speaker and microphones, now i just need a good karaoke software.
i have used karafun before at 2 different bars (this is the only software i’ve used). i like how participants can scan a QR code, choose their song and be added to a list. i also like how the normal subscription is only $10. from my understanding…i would be able to generate a QR code with the $10 version, it just wouldn’t be permanent. is that correct? would i, for example, be able to start the karaoke session on my macbook, print out the QR code for people to scan, and just leave it running on my laptop for an hour or so until everyone is done? i also have an ipad and a phone if im not able to do this on my laptop. but i do feel i might want to take videos of my friends so i would prefer not to use my phone. i’m also wondering how close to the speaker the laptop needs to be…if that matters at all for which subscription service to get or it’s just depending on the bluetooth range of the speaker haha. i have the jbl partybox 120.

i’m mostly just looking for answers to the question above but here is my story if anyone would like to know lol: i (18M) am having a pool party soon and i invited 56 people. of those 56, only one has rsvp’d. three people verbally communicated with me their intentions to bring things to my party, so i have to assume they are coming. i got a few “i think i can come”’s and i’ve heard talk of being excited for my party, too. one girl (20F, mexican) asked me if she can bring her brother, so i might assume she’s coming as well. one of my friends (18F, venezuelan) directly asked me what rsvp meant upon reading my invitation…i told her and we moved on, but it was bothering me, so i asked another of my friends (19F, white) last night if she knew what rsvp meant, and she didn’t (of course nobody needs to know the actual translation, just that rsvp means to let me know if you’re coming or not yk). now maybe I’m just being paranoid, but does gen z know what rsvp means? and, do you rsvp? i left both my instagram and my phone number on the invitation. the count of the party is pretty important especially with an invite list this large for seating, food, etc. if i receive an invitation to something and im available, i write it in my calendar immediately and tell the host im coming. i recognize not everyone plans as far ahead as i do…but as we get closer to the party and nobody rvsp’s it’s just worrying me a little. let me know your thoughts.

hi. i’m having a pool party soon and originally this was going to be a night party, but now it’s at 4pm because i want sunlight and i want people to want to be in the pool. i’m inviting about 50 people, this will be a combination of my friends and acquaintances from school. i’m not expecting everyone to come because of vacations and such, im shooting for like 30 people. anyways im thinking like…should i tell people to bring alcohol or not? im thinking like cans of mike’s lemonade, light stuff. no glass obviously). i dont drink but a lot of my friends do. i’m very aware of having fun without alcohol and i do that every weekend basically but im not sure what would be better for this type of party. i want everyone to have fun and socialize with each other (everyone will know some of the guests but probably not all of them). i’m thinking alcohol makes some people more fun 🤷 but personally i don’t need to drink to have fun and i would hope that would be true for everyone.
i’m wondering if anyone has experience with pool parties…what do u think? have u been to or hosted a pool party without alcohol and how was it?

edit: please only comments if you actually have experience with pool parties from now on. also, the only opinions i’m looking for are alcohol or no alcohol.

hi. i’m wanting to transfer to the uw for the 27-28 school year after i have my associate degree. yesterday, i ate so much free food at my current school and i was wondering if you guys also got it like i do? i feel like i eat free lunch at least twice a week, and it’s definitely more at the end of the year. yesterday i got 4 cookies, horchata, a piece of costco cake, oreos and cheetos, lots of cheese and crackers and 2 mini sandwiches.

hi. so i am very much a person that wants to be inclusive and welcoming of everyone and i have a lot of friends who share different opinions as me. i am soon having a party in which i will invite basically everyone i know, most of these people are in clubs i am in at school. a lot of them are graduating this year, and some of them i’ve recently sorta became friends with so i want to invite them to my party. and im thinking ill also invite the people i dont really know in the clubs because they know people im inviting, for example those in astronomy club are typically in stem fields so even tho i would only consider myself friends with 2 people in astronomy club, they are all friends with each other and hang out in the stem room. i do not want to exclude anyone…unless i have an explicit issue with them.

so here is the issue: there is one person in a club i am in that i do not get along with and have issues with. other people who i would consider my friends have literally left the club to avoid her. she’s just one of those people. however, she considers me her friend. she makes fun of me and insults me and my relationship (while i was in one). then she laughs extremely loudly about it like it’s funny. i guess she supposedly joking but i don’t think anyone else laughs when she insults me like that. anyways, definitely not the vibe i want at my party. yes i am excluding her. but i feel like, she doesn’t deserve to be included. i support giving second chances, sometimes people say things they dont mean, but i’ve known her for over a year now and it’s just an every week thing. (i am a very communicative person and yes ive made it clear i do not like when she does that. she’s apologized a couple times afterwards, but it doesn’t really matter if she’ll just do it again).

i’ve made a pretty good case on why i am justified in not wanting to invite her, but here’s why i should invite her: she doesn’t have a lot of friends. she told us we were her closest friends at one point. she’s only ever been in one relationship, and i don’t even think it was official. they met on tinder and went on some dates, i think they hooked up so it was somewhat serious but they moved away. one time, she was visibly upset that she wasn’t invited when my friend mentioned my birthday party that was 4 days ago at the time. that time, the friend talking about it was the only one in the group to be invited to my birthday as it was a small thing with my closest 10 friends. this time, the whole group will be invited and not her. i will tell them im not inviting her and im not going to talk about it around her, i hope that others won’t either.

even tho at the end of the day i do not want her energy at my party, i will feel bad if i exclude her. i am autistic and i know how it feels to be excluded. but normally im excluded for being “weird” or making one mistake and being held to that my entire life…that is part of why i feel strongly about people being able to grow, deserving second chances, etc. but this is an ongoing issue so i do feel as though its different. she’s shown me time and time again that she is not a friend to me. i don’t know. what do we think?

hi. i’m going to a 7 year olds birthday party at 4:30 today and last night i just realized that the electric balloon pump i have does not work on the balloon animal balloons :( she will be so sad if im not able to make the balloon animals at her party. i cannot find one anywhere (walmart, target, etc) and i dont know what to do. any advice would be appreciated.

edit: i didnt get one but she didnt even say anything about the balloons. party was great. she loved her gift and me and another guy did magic tricks

it seems the watch does notify you when it’s dying. but i never notice this until it’s too late, and i have forgotten to charge it at least 3 times now. can i get my phone to tell me when it’s 20% or when its too low and i need to charge it before bed? if this isn’t a thing, it needs to be.

edit: it would also be helpful if the “your watch is dying” notification wasn’t silent. i believe it is since i’ve never heard it.

for years i’ve been hearing youtubers/streamers talk about capture cards. i have no idea what they are. from my understanding they record what you do on your switch and then it saves onto your laptop or something? i really don’t know. i tried looking it up and watching a video but it seemed very complicated. i am not very experienced with technology. i’ve played ds/3ds/switch since i was a kid and i do have a laptop. so basically im asking if i am correct in what i think it does, and is it hard to use? also, is it okay if i just have a switch and laptop or do i need something else? other than the capture card of course. and how do i record my audio? is that separate?
