Loneliness in 20s after college

This is the lowest I've ever been. I'm not suicidal or have any desire to self harm. I simply have no friends to rely on and hence my, "lowest"

I have no friends with cars so I have to pick EVERYONE up. Everyone that remains in my life has to be driven or picked up by me.

Every friend I told to stop doing coke in college is no longer a friend. Every friend I cooked for - listened to them tell me about their parents - also is no longer a friend.

I feel like the love I had for these female friends was probably overwhelming. I just don't know how to get over this. It's complex but I don't want to have a kid just because I feel this way.

On the weekends I typically drunk because I just end up biking, going to concerts, or going to the city. Sometimes it feels like life is going great but I simply have no friends after my life started getting better.

Ex Friends Birthday, Why Do I Feel Bad

I used to believe my friend would be a good person. To spot the differences she’s always cried on her birthday. Going on about how she misses her family. We met during college during the pandemic and I was completely understanding.

We were both lonely, physically hungry and craving attention and care. During that point I was going through a difficult time in my life.

We ended up setting letters in the mail, small gifts, items from thrift stores. It felt like one of those crushes you get but then you realize it’s just the pandemic, you shouldn’t really be out, and you don’t even have friends.

Once school opened we were close friends in person. Shortly after I learned that she had an actual best friend. Someone she had more experiences with, wasn’t the same race, and naturally lived in her hometown.

4 years into our relationship I had started to do everything. I was the one to pick up her sister from the airport. She moved to my hometown in NYC. I was the one to help her move everything after she decided to come to NYC. I was also the one getting a Venmo request for

$6 FOR A DRINK AT BAR

I was the one on FaceTime listening to her tell me he did coke and Mexico, bragging as if I’d had missed out. I was the one cooking for her, just for her to come over and tell me she’s going to leave asap for a quick hookup or date. I was the one that consoled her sister for being suicidal. I was the one building her furniture, and being expected to use my car to help her move anything she wanted.

I became the extra baggage that no one ever wants.
In 2025 our relationship ended. After the $6 drink request it was kind of obvious. She wanted to go to karaoke and of course I said yes and joined.

Today is her birthday and I don’t want to say anything. Last week she texted me happy birthday. Yes we are both fucking Leo’s but I have Pisces in my chart so shit like this sucks.

I have no idea why she texted me. Her phone number is no longer saved. I was experiencing abuse by my parents last year and she never responded or offered me anything.

Sometimes I hope I had a friend that cared. She’s not the only friend who ghosted me after college. I’m also the only person in my small friend group that’s had a steady job, and an actual career.

This friend today has always been a narc. I was too scared of admitting it during our friendship. Hope she’s changed. Any advice what you would do in this situation?

Getting turned on a LOT at work

I’m 24F and lately only at work is when I get super turned on. I enjoy work, but the reality of work is that I get super turned on.

When I see my tattoos, veins in my hands, and my skin I get turned on. I work with tools like a crimper, screwdriver, what have you.

It makes me get extremely aroused. I typically work alone but for the past three days I’ve been super horny. And not by the idea of a random men walking in and looking at my ass. But by genuinely seeing my hands working, turning the cables, etc.

I always wash my hands after work, because I deal with a lot of dirty places. I was staring at myself in the mirror, like ughh I have got to shave that mustache I’ve got going on!

Can anyone help me her? Like what’s going on.

24F only child - lonely on wknds

Hey! I'm 24F and it feels like I'm doing the best things I can. I currently have no friends with cars, jobs, or salaries. The people in my circle have all consistently left or do not reply. My mom credits my success in self work and says that's why things are changing in my life.

Where have you gone to make better friends that align with your current career and lifestyle?

I used to have many friends and was super outgoing (18-22). Needed a ride? Or food for a birthday setup? Needed a meal? Needed a ride to go out to the movies with me? I was doing it all.

I'm going to deactivate my social media this week. In a few days it'll be my 25th. My current weekends look like spending time with my mom that I love dearly. Or with my grandfather. I took an edible last week and rode over a bridge to meet a musician I like. I feel super normal in my lifestyle but am missing friends, family, and so much more interaction.

This year I met my father for the first time in a few years and my sister for the first time. A few weeks later he stopped calling, and texting me and I don't even believe he wanted a relationship with me after all.

All friends that I've had have either ghosted me or used me for everything I have.

Typing this out from phone to computer has made me realize I need to go to therapy.

After removing people that do not like you and do not like themselves, what are you doing now to prevent depression and isolation?

First Salaried Job, Is this guy a Narcissist?

Asking this question because I’m looking for some advice.

My boss tries to make me feel like shit. When I first met him I swore he said “I hate women” and I was rolling with the punches and now exactly where this is going.

To describe my boss he’s like 500+ pounds. I’ve seen his ass crack so many times I’ve given up on counting. Whenever he enters a room he never says hello, good morning, or good afternoon. He only asks, “what are you doing?” In a rude tone. He openly talked crap about a previous employee and was making fun of him. Today I learned that an employee who passed away while at the company was his family. He got his current role through his family member. My coworker called him a “nepo baby” he’s not the only person in the company to be one.

My top comments from him include commenting on my clothes. I only work with men in my department and they never wear collard shirts. guess it’s the environment- I try to switch it up! That’s my vibe and I love myself for it :) In the beginning he said “you don’t have to dressup”. The first times I met him he had dandruff all over his head, acne, unshaven beard, etc. he also picks at my communication skills with my coworkers. I have great relationships with all of them. He tells me to not talk to them. Why would he do that? He seems to have a hate for knowing, seeing, and hearing that I’m a successful
Worker with other people. This month he yelled at me on the phone while I was in a dangerous, unsafe working conditions. I repeatedly stated that I need help, and a flash light and he began to yell at me. He told me to text him instead of using the company portal application. He gets mad when I don’t do otherwise.

I have a male family member that’s a narcissist so this behavior is extremely familiar to me. Speaking with him makes me feel unsafe. I’ve resorted to watching funny videos in my free time to brighten my mood if he calls me.

How do I prevent working with bosses like this? He works primarily for him, either never showing up or coming in at like 3PM staying for 30 minutes to eat lunch and the 20 min to stare at a computer as press buttons. How do I prevent people like this from effecting my character growth?

Is it Ok for Mom to Criticize my Hair? And other stuff..

Hey so I’m 24F and black. I’m currently among the tallest people in my family. I have a career, salary so everything seems “fine”. I’m doing my best.

Every month or so my mom tells me to do my hair. The reason I’m asking this question is to -

  1. Get responses from parent
  2. Get healthy feedback

The thing is I do my hair monthly… I simply cannot afford to do my hair every week. It’d be $500+ to do my hair every week. That’s 50% of my paycheck going to my mother (for rent) and for my hair.
Every month I typically do my hair at home (straightened, or pony tail) I always get my hair braided too.

She tells me that “I really want you to get your hair done”. And I kind of just agree with her say yes and then she says it AGAIN?! I say, “OK.” Because I’m uncomfortable. There’s been times where she’s offered to pay and I decline. Getting your hair done as a black woman isn’t necessary comfortable. You have to bring the hair, or wash the hair in vinegar. It’s a process and I love my hair .. I don’t like dandruff, and scratchy hair for two weeks.

I don’t think she recognizes that when I get to work I doll myself up. I have work days where I drive for 12+ (not a truck driver). I put in my makeup on at work because why tf am I sitting in traffic for 2+ hrs with a cloudy face. I put on my shoes, earrings and all jewelry at work.

**Am I wrong for being a regular girl?**

She tells me that I need to look better, do the part etc. none of my female coworkers do that. I’ve never been a competition girl but sometimes at work I stick out like a sore thumb. Heels, hard toe shoes, red pants, collard shirt, I wear graphic shirts, supreme, you name it…

How can I be better daughter at making her feel comfortable? As soon as I get home I’m showering because I get into tight dirty spaces at work. I’m putting on my favorite t shirt, hair protector and calling it a day.

My mother is heavier and shorter than me, my grandma is slimmer and shorter than me too. My mom tells me I should model. I want to take the best out of this without feeling guilty for being the girl I’ve always been happy being.

I don’t think my mom has seen all the versions of me and it’s starting to make me feel clarity in how she’s always perceived me.

24F looking for friends

Oh my goodness what a long message I could type!
Looking for friends that are down to hang out. My cons are that I was raised as an only child and haven’t met most of my siblings. I text back daily and will not ghost you! This past wknd I went to go see Willow Smith, and go watch Cats Jellicle Broadway on for free. I frequent body hack, nowadays, paragon for fun events. I do believe in God. I’m queer friendly, and work in IT. I’m not a competitive person, or a heavy drinker. I drive. That’s kind of my life. I just went to an art event alone like a few weeks ago.

Below is some of my few interests. I’m a hang out everyday type of person. I’m always up for something new! Sorry if this shit is all over the place.

I was born and raised on Argyle and Cortelyou. I work in Queens NY.

* i like biking.
* I like to read (reading: what happened to you - Oprah Winfrey)
* I like Pokémon and playing switch
* I like going to the beach
* I like parallel play
* I like playing badminton (have rackets no one to play with)
* clubbing
* going to the beach
* schomburg center
* watching soccer
* getting my nails done

Yes, I’m actively looking for people to bike with. I’m not a pro. I just bike over the Brooklyn bridge, sometimes I’ll bike 10 miles to Target if I want. If you see anything that interest you feel free to hit me up.

I kind of do whatever I want. Just looking for people that can handle that too and are looking for actual friendship.

What To Do When Dad Doesn’t Talk To You? (He’s been absent for 20 years)

I am very hurt now and am eating a cookie because of this.

As noted I’m in my mid 20s. My dad is a drug addict and stories from my mom state that he’s always been. My dad has had 3 more kids since I was about 11 years old. I make 1 out of 5. I’ve only met 1 out of 4 siblings.

The story with him is that he’s incapable of being a dad, a parent, a spouse, or even a boyfriend to my mother or my brothers mother.

My father doesn’t know how to drive so there’s no point in seeing me. He told me that, “the only day that matters is his birthday” and I better show up.

He’s never visited me for a birthday, and when I saw him last he couldn’t even pay for a cheap lunch sandwich. He smokes back to back cigarettes and drinks beer all day with a literal baby and a few other children.

I’ve begun to feel depressed, increasingly lonely.
My older brother never responds to me anymore and it’s been a month. He and I text but all updates I get are on social media (Instagram) and he just ignores my messages. It’s so hurtful just being a button for someone to click. If that makes sense lol (I feel like a mess and haven’t in a long time)
My father never responds to me anymore and it’s been like a month too. I tried calling him and he never answered, after the first, second and third attempts.

I don’t want this to be a male thing but I’m hurt. I mentioned some of this to a male friend in my life and he just ignored my comments about male absent fathers. I don’t know what to do about making this chapter easy in my life. My father’s family is trying to get on my good side by constantly calling me, complaining to me about their work, etc but I don’t even know how my father is doing anymore…

Am I wrong for expecting anything?

Please help Any Advice

Hi I’m feeling a little scared and ashamed. This is my first time seeking any help or even typing about it.

I’m 24F and ever since I returned home from college my mother’s hoarding has become a thing.

A few minutes ago I joined this sub and started looking at pictures users have posted.

I live with Mom and she’s getting to those levels too. The bathroom is filled with a lot of hair supplies. There’s plants everywhere in the house. Multiple old utensils like knifes, pots, rice cookers, pot roasters; etc.

I work an 8-4 role but with my commute I start “work” 6 and end at 6PM. For a while in this new apartment she just would yell at me on the weekends, throw water bottles at me. But I believe her anger is from her obsession when I left for college, not taking care of me, and then expecting me to clean all that she collected in my absence. Our relationship has been a climb ever since I returned from college.

My grandfather is like this too. He was supposed to have an apartment but chickened out so now we have HIS stuff too in here..

I’m a single woman have never had a boyfriend and I’m honestly ashamed about this. My grandparents got divorced and they are mentally ill so it’s hard to even get empathy from them. I have no one to talk too, sometimes I sit in my car or arrive super early to work to avoid looking at the piles of dirt.

Everytime she “cleans” it’s just moving stuff around... She decided to take up more space by getting a golf set? Sometimes I just clothes my eyes in the kitchen so I can avoid looking at stuff.

I offered a solution to hang up old artwork she purchased and then she mocked me for even trying to hang it up in the first place? I believe in God and am constantly praying for better but I need help.

Are Buicks Bad Cars? I have no AC in a company vehicle

I ended up having a medical emergency because of this car. It’s an Encore 2021. Be happy about your Buck this is costing me my health.

And I don’t want this to happen again.
Every time it’s slightly warm out even at 70 degrees the AC turns off. I’m losing trust in the car, and mechanic. I HAVE to drive for work. This would be the third time I’m taking the car to the mechanic.

So can someone please help ME?!

Are Buicks bad cars? Do Buicks shut off the AC if it’s hot out?

The oil temperature was under the second bar before the H (for hot). I can’t upload a picture.

Canada caused these fires and I’m in the US between it all. This has happened in 100 and 90 degree weather. I don’t know what to do. I’m not a mechanic and no website is giving me a honest answer.

A car cannot be used if the AC doesn’t work. A broken car is a broken car.
