Mystical Cold Flower - Bust by Lh Craft, Painted by me

Another study bust I did with vibrant colors. For context, I am usually an 'Eavy Metal style and/or Darker theme painter (due to necessity with commissions).

Trying to brighten up my style for my personal busts.

A week with the Samsung Beam 2

Honestly, I didn't even know that the Samsung Beam 2 existed. Only got used to other brands since I mainly collect older Nokias and Sharps.

It's more than a week since I've been using the thing, and it's great. 3 hours battery life projecting on full bright is nothing to scoff at (tho at home I keep it plugged). Oh yeah, remember when Samsung had removable batts? Fun times huh?

Using it as an emulation device (maxes out at PS1, which it can do surprisingly well with Retroarch) and a home cinema projector projecting at my ceiling so I can just chill after work (I work as a painter and my back gets destroyed a lot by ass posture). Using an older build of VLC for that.

Overall, fuckin love this thing. It was worth every penny I paid for it. the early 2010s and pre-2010 phones were really a wild west.

"Let's try boxing, it can't be that hard right?" Painted by me, 2026

2 hour paintjob. Found the bust primed and ready to go after I prepped it last year lol. Finally got to finishing it.

Questionable headphone jack placement aside, I have been loving it so far in the first week of owning it. I wanted to make some sort of FAQ/Archival post for future owners of this phone so it will help them set this up as a very portable projector (and because I didn't see anything about this phone that dives into technicalities and making it run.)

First off, it's running Android 4.2.2 with a Quad Core (Marvell PXA1088 1.18 Ghz) CPU. This is its major advantage versus its predecessor, the Galaxy Beam 1. It has 785mb of RAM.

The screen is 4.52 inches which was pretty standard for the Galaxy phones at the time.

Battery is alright, lasts 3 hours projecting unplugged, and it doesn't generate as much heat as the traditional projectors do. If you're going to run this plugged, make sure it is cold or have a mini fan accompanying it.

Takes SD Cards. The charging plug is a Micro USB.

With this being Android 4.2.2, app compatibility goes up. I'm currently running it as an emulation device/mini home theatre projected at my ceiling.

It has bluetooth support for controllers and speakers. You can fully control everything with the controller.

Here's what I run:

Emulation:

> Retroarch v1.7.8 (performance caps out at PS1, SNES has some trouble, but playable. Use Snes9x 2005 Plus for it.)

Movies:

> VLC Player 2.0.6 (I am aware this is an older build and the latest ones support android 4, but my God the latest one chugs the living hell out of this phone. This specific build runs great tho no issues.)

Youtube:

> Skytube Legacy Extra (VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: in the settings, change the Video Player settings to Legacy. Keeping it stock will not play videos. After that, you're fine, you can even directly download videos as well.)

If you have any more questions, please comment them down. I really love this phone and is currently my main entertainment device for watching my movie backlog (and for helping me fall asleep. If you're concerned about it running while you're sleeping, put on Ambience mode in the Projector app so it will auto shut off at a specified time. Very handy!)
