Hey all, so my Romulus came with one mec gar 20 rounder and one check-mate 17 rounder. I wish I knew about the mag bundle before I ordered it.
What mags/baseplates does the mag bundle come with? I much prefer the larger chunkier base pads than the flush fit plates that came on my mags. Are there any upgrades? It seems like slim pickings. I appreciate yall.
Hey all, dumb question. I never owned a 1911/DS1911 with a 2 piece guide rod. Im seeing people having issues with their romulus guide rods loosening/shooting off. Should I be using a dab of blue/green loctite on reassembly? Sorry if it sounds dumb, just never had a 2 piece guide rod.
Dumb question for everyone. Friend of mine runs a kimber 2k11 and recently changed To a cheeley grip. He said he's going to send the aluminum kimber grip to me for my Romulus.
The 2k11 grip will not fit an AF, correct?
Tisas B9R Duty single stack. Absolutely love this gun, its my main 2-gun sidearm. Gave it some creature comforts, and the surefire arrived today.
Nighthawk 12lb recoil and 17lb main spring, pinned grip safety, EGW Lightened Leaf spring, EGW Practical Extractor, Ed Brown Chain link Magwell MSH, Wilson Combat FLGR/Plug, Wilson Combat Extended mag release, Fusion Firearms Extended slide release, all internals polished, and TMC Short flat trigger.
Trigger breaks at a crisp 3lbs with no over travel and it shoots lights out. Only wish there was a reliable choice for sights due to Tisas' stupid Novak-Ish sights. Just felt like sharing. Its been a fun learning experience learning how to work on and tune my own 1911.
So I've been shooting my 5" B9R Duty single stack in competitions for a few months. Great gun, I've done some upgrades to it. But I dont have large hands. That mag release always sucked for me no matter what 1911 I shot or owned. I'd always have to break my grip to reload. I ordered and installed a Wilson Combat extended catch last night, and what a HUGE difference. I can drop mags no problem, even with the gun straight out. Not terribly expensive and it fit right in with no filing or fitting needed. Just swapped the spring and lock over, that was it. Only gripe, if they offer a blued catch...why not a blued button? At least it matches my trigger...ish haha. Just felt like sharing.
Hey all, so long story i was bad with money when i was younger, up to a few years ago, and had a series of unfortunate events this year get me backed up with late payments. I have 2 loans that need to be paid off in the next few months. One balance for $1293, due by november 17 2026, another for $3660 due by Jan 7 2027.
Payments for $1293 are 161/month usually but i am behind by $1066.18
payments for $3660 are $369/Month usually but i am behind by $1943.25
If I get paid bi-weekly, what is a good course of action to take to make this happen on time? I have a payment for each coming out this friday. After the $1293 is paid off, I can use that monthly payment towards the $3660.
I considered a debt consolidation loan to pay these off then aggressively pay off that loan within a few months by packing on overtime at work, but my credit isn't great (its a work in progress, but getting better) and I dont want ANOTHER loan to worry about. My only consideration with that would be if these loans are paid off, I now have $530 to hammer out that loan per month.
I do not make enough money to just pay lump sums, and still have basic necessities to pay for (bills, gas, medications, groceries etc).
Looking for some help, I appreciate it and come to yall with hat-in-hand.
So, here's the situation. We bought these two chickens from a neighborhood yard sale as golden comets. One is CLEARLY a roo (hes the bicolored one). He crows, he breeds, he LOOKS like a roo. Same age, same hatch. But this red one...we cant tell wtf is going on. The coloring is wrong for a GC male.
They sound like a hen, look like a hen, act like a hen, but they also "crow" (though not well) have spur buds coming in, and they constantly mount other hens, especially after theyve just been bred by an actual rooater.
They tidbit for us. Theyre super sweet. Small waddles, walnut comb. I think I see saddle feathers, but our Wyandottes have similar feather and are 100% hens.
Any ideas? They were purchased in april so they are 4 months old. Help? Lol
For a budget 1911, I cant fault it. First 500ish rounds through it i had 2 malfunctions that were inertia-driven double feeds.
Recently installed Nighthawk 10lb Recoil/17lb Mainsprings, Ed Brown MSP and magwell, Wilson FLGR, TMC Short flat trigger, Cool Hand grips (i cannot tell a difference between these and my VZ grips at all).
MSH took a little filing for the GS to travel enough to set but itherwise everything else is mint. New grios this weekend to flush fit the magwell. Just felt like sharing.
Hey all, long time single stack shooter, looking to jump into the 2011 game. Im really loving the Romulus line but cant decide if I want to go for the ported or comped version. Never competed with a gun with either but I know I want one. Not worried about classes, I mainly shoot open.
Between the 2 could anyone help me figure out what the positive/negatives are? So far all I can muster up is losing some barrel length with the ported, vs full barrel length but external port.
Any help is appreciated.
Hey all, so i managed to rocket my spring plug into the woods over the weekend during a match (I was going to clean/check my gun because it was acting weird and my hands were sweaty) so at the gun show the next day I picked up a new GI plug, and also a one piece stainless guide rod w/ the plug. Everything fits great, its super smooth and functions great. However when I go to take down the gun, the whole slide assembly doesnt come off as one piece like I thought it was supposed to. I can take it down like normal by rotating the bushing etc.
With the slide locked back, the rod is very solid, no wiggle or anything. Am I missing something?
Hey all, looking to buy a suppressor cover for my Turbo T2. I only use the gun/can combo for 2-gun/steel matches so im not exactly doing crazy long shooting strings but I do carry my gear in a cart between stages.
Can anyone recommend something thats not super crazy priced just to keep from melting my range bag/cart between stages? Or do I say screw it and just go Cole-tac etc
So, I've never owned a 12.5 AR before. Built one with a Roscoe 12.5 w/ their Patrol Length Gas (between mid and carbine for those who dont know). Always 10.5 or 18"+ Guy but I wanted to try something new.
Just getting it zeroed in with Hornady Frontier 75gr 5.56 and going off my chrono, holy cow thats pretty speedy. No real pressure signs I could see. Gun shoots awesome with it, isn't violent (I have it tuned well).
Im just curious, how is it possible to get ~2600 fps with a 75gr bullet out of a 12.5? My Athlon chrono was set up right, distance from muzzle was perfect and the SD kinda surprised me. Core build parts are as follows:

Made a venison backstrap last night from November's harvest. Marinated overnight in Kinders Fire Roasted Garlic seasoning, a little extra garlic powder, onion powder, dark brown sugar and ginger. Splash of soy sauce and bagged overnight in the fridge. The most tender, delicious 'strap I've made in all my years of hunting. Timing was slightly off so it came out a bit more rare than expected. Paired with green beans and cucumber tomato salad (not pictured).
12.5 Roscoe Patrol build finished the other night. What a snappy shooter. Only other 12.5 I've owned is a Gordy build, but this intermediate gas system is nice. Polished GI trigger with 3.5 trigger spring is a dream. Did it as a budget build on an SBR'd lower. H2 Buffer and sprinco blue has it ejecting 2:30-3:00, might try an H3. Im happy with it, will be running it at the Zoo City shoot Aug 1. Just felt like sharing.
So, quick backstory. Im just learning now that standard mk262 5.56. Doesnt play nice with .223 wylde Chambers and suppressors. Normally I hand load a 77gr long range load for my SPR, but im looking for factory ammo alternatives for 2-gun matches etc where I dont collect my brass after.
I came accross fiocchi's 77gr Hyperformance SBR .223 loaded for optimization in shorter barrels with smk's for "relatively cheap". I plan on trying it in my actual 12.5 SBR, but has anyone used this in longer barrels?
Gun is barreled with an 18" BA SPR barrel, 1:8 with rifle gas/adjustable block and an OCM5, standard spring and H1 buffer.
Am I looking at a one way trip to pressureville, or do you think it should be okay as its loaded to .223 pressures?
Hey all! So, recently I've started attending local comps in NC with a good friend of mine. We aren't crazy serious into it like sanctioned IPSC, etc. We mostly shoot just fun matches to give us an excuse to run and gun, and test our stuff out.
But anyway, we had a match this past saturday and had a great time. It was a 2-gun match, im running a Gordy clone, and single stack 9mm 1911 because, vibes.
In one stage you had to engage 8 targets with your rifle, dump the rifle, grab an ammo box, run the course one handed until the end where you could engage the last few with both hands.
We were told "you may place the box down, reload, pick it back up and re-engage" if you need to reload (now remember, im running 10 rounders).
I mis-counted and had to reload before the last spot. My past training kicked in (ive done tons of CQB and situational training in the past), and rather than dropping the box, I holstered the gun with the slide locked back, and reloaded as if my support hand was out of commission. The time keeper/match director just yelled out "okay! Impressive!" As I finished the stage. Never broke 180⁰, gun was always in a safe direction, never broke 90⁰ on the reload.
Some guy in the squad kinda made a big stink about it being a procedural, even though the match director said he'd NEVER count that as one.
In a real-deal, sanctioned match, would I have been boned? The way I saw it was it was quicker for me to reload that way, vs putting the box down, loading, picking it back uo and re-engaging. Just trying to learn, i know I've seen a lot of videos of guys getting DQ'd for crazier things. I appreciate any input yall have. Pic for attention, that was my loadout for the match.
Hey all, so I have a question and I hope this is the place to ask. If you have ever run a DMR/Sniper style rig whether in competition, LE, Military, what kind of rig are you running? Are you going full battle rattle PC style, or are you going chest rig, Eagle H Harness style...etc?
Basically looking for recommendations. Im assuming something more streamlined to be run with a bolt gun or gas gun. I already have a first line set up. Thanks, I appreciate your time.
Hey all. So, my pet .308 load was doing some funky stuff this past hot weekend. Normally I load 42.2gr Varget under 175smk, lapua cases to mag length, 210m Primer. This is a fairly common load that I start to usually see some primer flattening, but thats the worst of it. This load was developed during the 70's-80⁰.
This past weekend was HOT hot. About 100⁰ almost in the shade. While shooting, I noticed ejector marks and slightly heavier bolt lift. Obvious pressure signs, similar to how they acted at 44.5gr in 'normal' weather. I also waited a few minutes between shots.
Would you down-load your rounds for the summer heat with varget, or just try to avoid those super hot days on the range? The accuracy is so good, I dont really wanna mess with it but I feel like if I dropped it .2gr or so, it should still fire about the same. S

Hey all! So, im on week 3 of my journey and im down about 10lbs. Its amazing, and im so happy. An issue im noticing is prior to starting, my blood pressure meds were raised to almost double what I was taking for a year. Theyre working great, but I noticed recently some lightheadedness after bending to pick something up too quickly, or (sorry) getting up off the toilet too fast.
Is there a correlation between faster weight loss and a possibility of now taking too high of a dose of BP meds?
Hey all. Talking with a friend of mine and the idea of having our stuff insured came up. I've begun accruing some pretty expensive stuff between NFA items, higher end hunting guns and some non replaceable heirloom guns. I keep them all in a fire proof safe, but I'd like to have them insured instead of relying on homeowners god forbid something happens.
Can anyone recommend a good company thay does this kind of thing with fair appraisals etc?
