Sig Kilo 3k rangefinder onboard elevation/temp way off

So I’m at basically sea level, like 100ft elevation, and it’s 63°f.
My new Kilo3k is saying I’m at 2,060ft elevation with a temp of 88°f. Which is way off.

There’s the option to override and manually enter values, or pull data from your phone. But I was hoping that I didn’t have to rely on a cell phone…

What gives? Do I have a defective unit, or are they all this inaccurate?
Or… is it compensating for pressure or something along those lines and it’s actually accurate?

I was hoping I could trust this unit for long range but I’m a little hesitant now.

Can able to do the monkey bars after injury?

Can anyone do the monkey bars after injury?* Apologies for the title typo.

Silly question… but I injured my rotator cuff about 7 months ago, no tear, but it got tugged pretty hard and just really agitated it and caused a bunch of inflammation and aching for months on end.
Anyway, I’ve made progress regarding pain and strength, I feel like I’m mostly recovered at this point, but I still have more to progress before I’m back to 100%. My biggest limitation right now is the monkey bars or similar activities. I tried for the first time since my injury, and I get a good amount of pain and cannot hang from my previous injured shoulder when trying to transfer hands. I can hang from both hands, just not the injured side.

Anyone with a similar or worse injury than mine end up making a full recovery to do the monkey bars again?

Not that I go to the park all the time and use monkey bars, but it did make me sad that I wasn’t able to show my niece how to use them. Because of that, I want to use them more than ever now. I want to work and work until I can do them again. There’s just negative thoughts that keep entering my head and it’s kind of making me spiral.

Which setup for eastern Oregon deer?

Going rifle hunting in October for some muleys in eastern Oregon, between 3500-6500ft elevation.. some trees, some wide open areas with nothing but sage brush.

Which of these setups would you get? The bipod is 25”-40” for sitting or kneeling. The trigger stick is a tripod and goes from sitting, to up to 60” standing heights.

I’m trying to do this whole trip on somewhat of a budget, and the shorter bipod is over $100 cheaper than the tall tripod, considering I would need to buy the adapters to make the trigger stick compatible with my Spartan adapters. I know I don’t “need” to make it compatible with my Spartan adapters, but it would be more stable and less to think about when trying to get setup quickly, especially for my wife. It’s convenient when you don’t have to worry about the rifle sliding around when you’re trying to reposition.

My only concern is will this bipod be too short for sage brush? I’ve hunted this area years ago, and I want to say the sage brush was waist height? I can’t remember. But I also recall a lot of scenarios where you’d be shooting up or down a steep hill and you would easily clear anything you’re trying to shoot over.
I typically hunt coast range blacktail, and you can find a rest almost anywhere it seems like, with all the stumps and trees around. Eastern Oregon, not so much..

My wife and I are going on this trip and I want a stable platform, not only for her but for myself too. Just not trying to break the bank!

Open to other recommendations if you feel both of these are truly not viable options.

Help with answering Washington Paid Leave questions

I received workers comp benefits for some of the weeks I’ve been off.
For weeks I recieved workers comp payment, do I say yes I want paid leave benefits and yes I recieved workers comp benefits, or just skip that week? I know they won’t pay you for weeks you received workers comp, but I still “want” the paid leave payment because the workers comp LEP payment was so small and I haven’t worked any hours.

Is there a chance a real person would review that specific week, see that I got a very small amount and still give partial payment, or is it just an automated system that will deny automatically, and I might as well just “skip” that week to avoid extra steps?
I’m not sure how to answer.

Budget shooting tripod?

Looking for something inexpensive and relatively lightweight to pack, that’s also stable to shoot from in kneeling and standing positions.

I will be hunting eastern Oregon this year, and half the unit is wide open with nothing to rest from. The sage brush may be too tall to shoot prone from my bipod.

What’s wrong with my watch?

Series 8, GPS+Cell. Used heavily the last 4 years.

Screen became unresponsive yesterday, so I attempted a force reset. Now I only get this screen, with an Apple logo occasionally flashing if I click the power button, but then reverts back to this screen.

Online support can’t tell me anything, except that it could cost up to $349 for repairs. They didn’t say it would cost that much, as they couldn’t tell me what’s wrong with it, but it could be up to that amount.

Is it worth trying to fix this old thing and hope it’s a cheap/easy fix, or just upgrade? What do we think even happened to it?

Best budget rangefinder $300 or less?

Around 300* +/-.

Looking for a budget range finder that will accurately give ballistics data, angle compensation, etc.. if there’s such a thing? I’m also open to buying used as well, if that would open the door for better options potentially.

(Bonus points if it can store data for two rifles. My wife and I both harvest with 6.5cm and also shoot long range casually.
Her rifle has a shorter barrel, and while we shoot the same round, our velocities are about 160fps different.)

Please assist with list of items needed for budget rally sim

I’m new to this, but I want a PC or console, pedals, wheel, etc. to use as rally training tool.

What type of PC or console, monitor, wheel, pedals, hand brake, shifter, chair, etc do I need for a complete entry level rally sim that doesn’t brake the bank?

Thanks

Bear spray/side arm necessary in Oregon?

Oregon resident. I’ve hunted for 7 years but have never carried bear spray or a pistol. (Just rifle or bow) I have seen very few Black bear in person, and actually only 1 ever in the woods while hunting. Never seen a cougar with my own eyes either.

My wife is getting into hunting with me, and she’s been expressing the concerns of bear and cougars. This made me start really thinking about whether or not this is something to be prepared for.

Oregon is not home to Grizzly or brown bears.

Should we be carrying bear spray or a pistol? I know it can’t hurt, but would it be almost pointless with Black bear and cougars? I guess there’s a small chance of a wolf encounter as well.

Am I over thinking?

I had a recent IME at a very small office and I signed some intake paperwork.
However, I never thought to flip it over and check if it was double sided. The front side appeared to be a standard form, but I’ve read that some places will trick you into signing something you shouldn’t, something that could waive rights, or give them access to things they shouldn’t have.

I’m sort of freaking out and I’m not sure how to proceed.

Do I call or email and ask for copies of all the intake paperwork?
I don’t want to get retaliation to reflect on my report for asking because the whole experience was not very pleasant. The front desk was nice, but the doctor was not so friendly.
I briefly asked the front desk if the page was double sided before I left and they said “no just one sided” but I should have asked to look for myself.
I don’t know what to do😥

Best bino harness for still hunting

Hi all.

Looking for a new bino harness system so I can carry my range finder on my chest instead of on my belt.

I’m a still hunter in the PNW, so I’m CONSTANTLY raising/dropping my binos what feels like every couple yards.. or whenever a squirrel moves a sapling or a good looking stump shows itself in the distance. Rarely am I sitting for hours glassing.

I’ve always used the elastic chest harnesses that are quick to raise and glass and then drop without thinking about it. In the rain, I run the little 1 piece cover over the eye lenses and I can efficiently remove them as I raise the binos, glass then place them back onto the lenses as I drop the binos without letting rain hit them.

This system has worked well for me, but id love to find something capable of holding my range finder and my knife so I don’t have a bunch of stuff on my waist or in my pockets.

I’ve tried the new Kuiu G3 pro bino harness but it’s a bit of a hassle to open the cover, then remove my eye caps, glass, put back and cover again. The flap takes two hands to close. And it just takes so much longer to do a quick glass. This wouldn’t be such an inconvenience if I’m glassing for hours at a time and then they’re put away for a while, but thats not that case.

Is there another quick and efficient bino harness that can also hold equipment on your chest?
Right now I’m considering the Kuiu Ultralight bino harness because I’d have the option to eliminate the cover, but it looks like it still takes two hands to resecure to your chest.

Maybe I’m destined to just stay with the elastic setup.

Anyone have recommendations?

Spandex/polyester underwear

As an athlete through high school and into my late 20’s, I’ve been wearing exclusively Ethika performance underwear for the last 14 years. I hope I haven’t absorbed to much bad stuff..

Over the last 3 years, I’ve completely transitioned my lifestyle to clean eating, removing microplastics/forever chemicals and really trying to hone in on natural resources.

At this point, my clothing is really the last thing that needs addressed.
As mentioned, I’ve been an athlete for years and currently an avid runner. A LOT of my clothes are athletic wear, which consists of polyester, spandex, nylon, etc. this includes my underwear, which is maybe the most important piece of clothing?

Is there a healthy alternative to athletic underwear, and how important is it?

Preparing for Oregon Mule deer rifle season

Hello.
I drew a tag for eastern Oregon mule deer this year along the snake river/Idaho boarder. This is the Pine Creek area if you’re familiar. I believe my target hunting area will mostly be anywhere between 4000-6500ft elevation.

I was hoping someone that knows the area could help me out with a few pointers and with what to expect for weather conditions.

I haven’t been over there in many years as I moved out of the area, and to be frank, I can’t remember the details about how the weather was in the past.

Should I be packing thermals, rain gear, or is it going to be relatively warm in early/mid october?

I’m open to any other tips as well!

Thanks

Anyone use a sim rig for training?

I heard using a sim too much can be counter productive because you get so used to the sim physics and you’ll find yourself overshooting corners in real life due to the false sense of grip in the game.

I know professionals use Sim rigs but those are expensive setups and probably closer to real life.

Thoughts?

Best 500-1000 spinning reel? Under $100

Looking for a reel to pair on my two new rods. Ones a 4’0 fast and the other is a 4’6” moderate.

What’s the best $50-$100 reel for an UL setup? I want something with around a 5:0 retrieve speed.

Also what’s the better size? Spooling 4lb max.

Thanks

Stren or Trout Magnet SOS

For my main spool on my 4’-4’6” UL spinning rods, I have usually ran 4lb stren (clear/blue) in the past and had success. Only complaint is the line seems to be slightly visible under water when the sun hits it right.

How’s this SOS stuff perform in comparison? I don’t want to give up the low memory of Stren.

I’ve also heard the SOS has a higher breaking strength.

Does that mean I could run 2lb SOS and get the same strength as the 4lb Stren, but smaller diameter? I just wouldn’t want super stretchy.

Edit: what about Seagar Tatsu 4lb?

Feel free to let me know if you guys have other recommendations as well.

Absolute smallest snap swivels? Knock-offs safe?

Anyone know where I can find micro snaps/barrels for my inline spinners? I want the absolute smallest I can get away with, as I only run a 4lb main line, so I don’t need something rated for 10+ lbs.

I found these on eBay. they are small and fit my criteria but appear to be off-brand… does anyone have experience with “knock off” swivels and do they still actually function as a swivel in the water to prevent line twist?

Thanks!
