My condo charges an emergency fee on holidays/weekends. Are all condos like that?

Hello,

Just had my first emergency and of course it falls on the weekend and holiday AND during a heatwave and on top of a bunch of other personal things making this super inconvenient!

Air conditioning unit is on the roof and the condo is strict about letting HVAC technicians up there.

so I can only schedule HVAC calls when maintenance is here. In order to do it on a Weekend/holiday, the condo charges $400 for 4 hours. And regardless if you use those 4 hours or not you STILL have to pay the $400.

I’ve found this really frustrating.. I wish I had known to ask about emergencies before buying a condo.

Is your condo like this?

Celebrating Rukia’s birthday amidst all the chaos

Today is rukia’s birthday! Unfortunately I couldn’t focus on her 100% today because her big bro Jon Snow had to be admitted in the ER. But i did I celebrate both of their birthdays earlier this month because they’re both June Babies. They got a pup treat from shake shack! And a pup cup from Krispy Kreme

She has separation anxiety and I didn’t know how long I’d be at the ER so she came along

I think she enjoyed the car ride and just being with us all.
She got some pets from my bestfriend and the vet staff

Happy 1 year rukia! Cheers to good health and more of you adding so much fun to my day

Update on Jon Snow

In my previous post, I mentioned how I was worried the vet wasn’t gonna take his symptoms serious because he looks fine on the outside and his symptoms come and go.

I actually ended up taking him to the ER because he was vomiting consecutively this morning and his vomit was turning pink, and I saw specks of blood.

His blood results indicated he has liver issues
Dehydrated
Negative for obstruction in GI tract
Negative for pancreatitis

Next step is fluids and an ultrasound.
He’s currently admitted and they’re expecting him there for 48 hours

I’m kind of numb right now trying to process everything

he was looking at me with such alert eyes, following me around. Tail wagging at all the staff . But deep down he’s in pain. I could hear him making that noise that he makes when something is making him uncomfortable . It’s amazing how dogs put you before themselves . This is why I fight for him

My selfless angel that was given to me on this earth to show me unconditional love . How privileged I am to be loved by him and to love him back.

Praying for you Jon Snow to get better

Going to vet tomorrow. Help advocating for my dog

My dog just turned 10. Because it seems these episodes come and go for the past 2 days I feel the vet won’t take my concern serious if he seems normal at the appointment . These are the only two videos I have when he was showing obvious signs of him in pain. What i didn’t get in camera was him crying out when we were holding him. He seems okay now, he just been sitting in his crate all day. Last time I mentioned he was showing some discomfort they just palpated him and gave
Glucosmine. I hope they will take this serious. I need answers. I don’t think this is just normal aging…but he is my first senior dog .

New symptoms:
Cried when we were carrying him and when he was walking
Wanting to sit while walking
Legs shaking
Doesn’t want to stand on back legs to put harnass on

Prior Symptoms:
Lagging behind on walks
Being In crate more than usual
Smaller appetite
Not playing anymore

This vet I been going to is the closest and already has his most recent blood work.
If they don’t help me tomorrow I’ll start finding a new vet.

Outdoor ceremony brides: is your makeup artist putting sunscreen on your face??

From my experience, sunscreen + makeup was a disaster for me. Pilling…I would use a skin tint with SPF but what do professional make up artists do?

I have a 30 minute ceremony planned for the outside at 4pm (if it doesn’t rain).
As well as outside bridal party pictures since the venue is a garden.

Please tell me if your makeup lasts and I’m just over thinking it

Could a multitool make these slots?

Hi,

I’m nowhere near handy. But I’ve been seeing a lot of DIYs using a multitool. I live in a condo with no storage unit so space is limited. I’ve been considering getting a Multitool since it’s small and versatile.

I want to make some slots in wood like this. I see they’re using a tool in the second pic …I don’t know what that is. But do you think a multitool can do it with the right attachment?

Thank you

feel overshadowed by matron of honor’s pregnancy - vent

So my bridesmaids consist of the matron of honor, her sister, and her cousin. The 4 of us were really close during high school and college.

But as we got older things definitely changed. I moved out the neighborhood and matron of honor got married and she still lives close to her sister and cousin so they’re definitely very closer than I am to them.

Matron of honor is pregnant and she expressed many times to not let her pregnancy make me think I shouldn’t come to her about issues.
But this issue I’m having right now is hard to grasp.

Right now everyone’s talking about her baby as she shares updates. Her baby shower coming up. she happily shared with us that she secured a date. Of course I said I’m going to help plan it. She expects everyone to be on time .

But when we did our food tasting from my caterer they all came late together. She apologized with no explanation .but at the tasting she was mostly making an effort to talk to everyone expect me and I felt kind of side character .

And I’ve shared some updates regarding my wedding planning hoping for the same excitement but only the cousin responded so far. I don’t feel the same excitement for something going on in my life when I share updates..

I’ve tried to think of the other things she’s done on the side that I’m thankful for . She’s reviewed my contracts and timeline and gave me advice from her own wedding experience. But I can’t help but feel I’m alone in all this and that I just have to accept no one cares as much I do . Not even my bridal party

Received Wedding planner proposal. Questions to ask?

Hello:

I’ve done 2 wedding planner calls. And so far the second I spoke to really seemed Type A and on my super detailed-deep dive level.

-able to gauge her experience based on how she had to stop herself from asking me so many thinking ahead questions.
-reviewed my Google doc ahead of time before our call and had her questions prepared .
-also told me her “will not do list” so that she’s completely transparent with me and there’s no surprises of her role.
-comes with an assist With this package.

Optional add-on;
-$300 for an extra third person to handle decorating the tables
-$500 for a photobooth.

She’s told me she has let go of people in the past that didn’t execute their job well so I’m hoping she has a reliable staff .
im able to request her specifically if we ask.
said she’d take note and make herself available (knock on wood)
But im not sure why she didn’t offer it in the first place. Maybe because she’s the owner and she can’t do every single wedding …

Is there anything else I should ask before moving forward with this proposal?

Melatonin, rain noises, shower, new sheets, gym…finally SOLVED

After I stepped into wedding planning this year I started not sleeping well. Night terrors, mind racing, doom scrolling.

I tried a bunch of the things in the title. Omg I think I lost WEEKS worth of sleep. I was somehow surviving by falling asleep at like 5am or taking naps during work..but I’d still feel horrible . Especially being easily woken up by my fiance getting ready for work. It was so annoying how id wake up to the LEAST disturbing noise 😂 like him sighing, or lightly close the dresser or the door.

Finally I randomly thought to change the rain noise to white noise….i slept like an ANGEL.

You’re kidding me!! I didn’t think what type of noise mattered. Fast forward it’s been a WEEK and I’ve finally been sleeping HEAVYY consistently. I don’t even hear my fiancé’s alarm either. I only wake up when he’s petting the dogs on the bed before he leaves and by then that’s a good time to wake up.

I wonder if it’s my high anxiety and brain racing needing the white noise to calm it down.

[vent] Always taking a jab at me in front of others

I don’t know how else to explain the type of nerve this hits.

It’s always around good people to. In front of my fiance, my friend, my brother’s In Laws! Like we’ll just be having a good convo and then bam. She says something about me in a condescending way or weaponizes something i did against her.

I get mad and then she says “oh please, it’s not serious” what!! Then she goes on a silent treatment afterwards . She immediately detaches herself when she thinks I’m mad and acts like I hurt her.

Then if I explain why I’m mad. She’ll play the
You are so ungrateful card.

34D ladies, What kind of strapless bra do you recommend with your wedding dress to give you lift?

So I’m struggling with finding a strapless bra that gives me lift…I do not want to have my chest down to my freaking stomach! It’s really uncomfortable .
In this pic, I think my strapless bra is slipping down so it’s giving me an even more saggy look.

Any advice on what kind of strapless bra is comfortable and supportive on your wedding day?

The one I’m wearing is a basic strapless with a sticky lining but it still slips down.

I wear a regular 34D comfortably
My strapless bra is 36C and it’s on the tightest clasp

Jon Snow’s 10th birthday!

I met him only in the second pic when he was almost 3 years old. He wined and then nuzzled his head into my lap when his owner(now my good friend) surrendered him to me. He got used to me fast. He’s always been so good at adapting to new people and places fast. He still sees his previous owner and gets so excited lol I feel like he thinks “all my favorite people in the same room”

he’s been with me through so many milestones. From graduating college, getting my first job, first car, pandemic, moving out, dating, buying my first condo, and getting engaged! 🥹🥰

“First look with bridesmaids” how does that look on the day of?

Has any Bride here did a first look with bridesmaids ?

Like how does that timeline look on ur wedding day?

Do you see them only until after your makeup and dress is done?

I wish I could attach a picture that I’m referencing but the bridesmaids were all ready. And then they saw the bride for the first time and she was ready.

So I’m wondering did you all get ready separate?
Or maybe the video is fake and it’s just for content.

I’m curious because I’m wondering what it’s like to get ready by yourself. (If that’s what you all did). Is it more peaceful than around the chaos of the bridesmaid getting ready?

Do you take your dog to the vet for every new lump?

His 10th birthday is in 3 days.
Vet appointment going to be scheduled to figure out if fatty or malignant.

Last night for literally no reason I was looking at him in the dark with a flashlight. I noticed an uneven bump on his chest. I kept thinking’s maybe it’s a bone ?? At the angle he was laying down? But then I didn’t feel anything like it on the other side.

I kept palpitating it. It feels like something hard and round. But I can move the skin around it but that bump stays in place. The picture doesn’t do it justice but it’s definitely there.

I read that it could be benign fatty tumor and that this comes with age.

In the past, he had a malignant tumor on his wrist. He had it surgically removed. So the one on his chest caught me off guard.

He’s my first senior boy.
Do you take your dog to the vet anytime a new lump comes up?

1 year ago I got my first puppy

A sad, traumatizing story.

1 year ago: May 27, 2025 I made the impulsive decision to adopt a puppy for my senior dog JJ to have as a friend.

I named her Toffee. She was cream just like JJ. Just a 5 lb burrito Chihuahua. She gave me a lick that sealed the deal. I felt my world spin when she did that. I took that as a sign of two souls meeting, or that it was meant to be.

But our time was short. Within a week the cough she had wasn’t getting better with antibiotics. Her paws and nose were cracking. Her skin was shedding endlessly. Then I was told to take her to the ER. I was in shock the whole time. 3 days in the ER. Oxygen, antibiotics, IVs. They said there was no improvement.

Test came negative for Parvo. Distemper test result still didn’t come.
She couldn’t breathe on her own anymore.
They told me it would cost almost 30k a day to keep her in the oxygen chamber and that she would be fully dependent on it. And that it would be up to her body if she can recover, but the odds were not in her favor.

They told me to put her to sleep.
I refused. Everyone in the vet office was staring at me .
They told me she would pass. I took her home anyway because I refused to believe their opinion .

I contacted the adoption rescue I got her from.
they referred me to their own vet.

I stayed up with her that night until that vet opened.
Steam inhalation to open up her nostrils which were closing. Rubbing her eyes to remove the green goo that kept coming back. She didn’t look the same anymore. Face unrecognizable

Finally saw The vet. She said the ER and I did everything right and that it doesn’t look good. She said the odds of her surviving an intubation and plasma transfusion are low and not even sure if it would save her.

She calmly advised me to lay her to rest. June 15th
. I barely had her for 20 days. It all consisted of vet trips, ER trips, sleepless nights.

After she passed, the results came: positive for distemper. A litter of puppies also tested positive for distemper and were put to sleep at the rescue within a 2 weeks . They had shared the same room with Toffee at the rescue .

The rescue said they started an investigation with the shelter she was pulled from to see if her vaccine failed her, if they improperly vaccinated her, or not at all.

Never heard anything after that.

The rescue never shared our story to the public, though I wish they did for distemper awareness . But they reimbursed her adoption fee, gave me $200 for their vet , and offered me another puppy for free when I was ready.

I miss toffee. She deserved better. I think of her everyday. She was the cutest, sweetest, gentlest soul. I never imagined in my 30 years of life that I’d endure such a traumatic story with my own pet.

I wish she had survived. I’ll never know if she had a chance if I did anything differently.

I love you toffee. I’ll never forget your story for the rest of my life .

[Landlord - US-MD] Helping my out of state bro (landlord). Neighbor verbally harassed us

assisting my brother who is an out of state landlord with his rental properties. My fiance and I were doing a handyman task for him .

A neighbor on the floor below us started asking my fiance who is he and what is he doing out here? In an aggressive manner. My fiance tried to ignore him. Then finally answered and said I’m just doing work my man. He said I’m not ur fucking man. I’m the fucking neighborhood Watch.

Fiance flicked him off. He was then following my fiance purposely getting behind him. my fiance then said fucking bitch under his breath.

He said, “What u say, i will slap the Fuck out of you” my fiance said “I dare you. I will fucking sue u for battery and assault”

At this point I heard everything and I came down screaming what’s going on?! And the guy is like “I DONT KNOW YALL I DONT KNOW WHAT YALL DOING”

Like what?? You need to know every single person in this condo?

I talked to my brother in the past and he mentioned a guy harassed him before and it really upset him.
This is the same guy.

I’m pretty sure the new tenants are moving in are not going to be happy if this guy harasses them too.

Can an HOA do something about this?? Would the police do anything? It all happened so fast, no camera or recording
