Sayani Gupta’s film being plagirised and being backed by Nikhil Advani & Dia mirza and continues to play in film festival?

Came to BISFF to support my friend's film and saw Sayani Gupta shamelessly promoting hers- Some of us have been clocking her movements - how is she this comfortable? Argh

For context check https://www.reddit.com/r/BollyBlindsNGossip/s/nt6wnXM3GZ

Grapevine is buzzing with the news that two international film festivals have dropped the film becuase of the dispute with an indie filmmaker whose premise she has used from the docu to make this short film? posts are all over reddit!

And apparently BISFF is still screening it ?? Lol.

Obviously, allegations ≠ proof, but the whole situation is deeply uncomfortable. Do the festivals here not care about indie filmmakers' concerns?

Looks like BISFF really turned a blind eye to this and frankly that’s incredibly disheartening. People spend YEARS developing these films, and there needs to be some system to protect them.

As someone who has just made a short, I know it takes years of hard work... everything is working against you. Especially if you are not priviledged.
Honestly, it’s a terrible precedent for independent filmmakers. Shame on her.

Meanwhile shall we confront or talk to her about this things thats going around just to see how she reacts (sorry i am evil hehehe) I used to like her but now i am just PISSED AND TIRED of these celebs. She has treated me pretty badly during the 4more shots shoot even tho i was there briefly!

Can this gen really truly fall in love?

Hi, I am 30F and my bf broke up with me a few weeks ago and is now getting married to someone else lol. I am judging myself too, don’t worry. But that’s not even the point.
The point is that it has left me wondering if love is even possible because most men I have come across always want something. It always needs to lead somewhere.
Even this ex of mine was from Delhi and I remember how infatuated he was with me. Weirdly, that was the thing that put me off the most, so I never really took him seriously. I never even called him my boyfriend and he knew it. He also knew he liked me way more than I liked him.

Now he is getting married and I am sitting here wondering what I even want in the future.
I think I want a relationship based on friendship. I can’t give anything to anyone based on expectation. I also keep wondering if I like being loved more than being a lover and whether that means I will never find the kind of love I actually want.

I do have a lot of issues and I have been seeing a therapist, but I am also genuinely afraid that I don’t mind being alone lol. I have always been hyper independent, so I don’t even know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing anymore.

Everyone seems so obsessed with marriage and finding a partner and I am so confused by all of it. Don’t you also want to experience life, do random stuff, swim in open waters, travel and eat? I have hit 30 and I feel like a white girl who just wants to pursue hobbies more than anything lol.

PS. I have never been in love lol.
Also, MEN PLS DONT DM ME.

Does anyone elsw feel like they will be left behind

I was 22 (now 30f) when i went to film school by 23 i had made 3 films out of which only 1 was good and i am still proud to show it. People have also loved it etc but i moved to bombay in 2019 and covid hit, i took whatever i could in ads as a Da and then tried doing long formats and a film. Ok experience, i also became a script supervisor on it wher ei actually learnt a lot. I helped my friends w their feature film which actually turned out to be career altering for them.

I am 30. I left bombay last year to pursue my own animation docu film (im not an animator) after getting tired of the lack of creative satisfaction in advertising with client and agency making me do shit i dont even want to do! My project was ambitious and i had a producer w me who abandoned me in april and since then i have no money, had to leave and come back to my small hometown and take care of my dad who is old now. I did fundraise a little but my financial situation has gotten so bad that i am considering giving up and just focusing on making money first. Idk if i will evenr get back to films but i genuinely dont know what to feel. I see my friends who will get where i want to be beccuse rhey hustled. I tried to hustle and i actually did direct 6-7 ads worth 80lakh ruppees all of which were released. I have it in me but idk if have it in me enough to pursue it.

I dont want to regret not trying because i know even if i am not the brighter bulb in the room, i do beleive there is a voice in me that i need to hear myself. I also want to do this project so that i create something as an artist and not someone who is just making another film.

Idk what to do honestlyz if i dont make a film i will prolly loose it

I know its an arranged marriage setup and you prolly find him handsome etc but he has no clarity in life, his family is weirdly toxic even tho they arent bad ppl!! They made him give up on me so you know he dosent have a fucking spine. He likes you because you can listen to his Bs and i wasnt willing to listen because there was lack of serious action. He is senstive and if anything goes south be ready to be the only one who can make decisions coz he cant!!!

My bf till 2 weeks ago is getting engaged to someone else tomorrow

I am broken and i am unabke to eat and sleep properly and having breakdwon. How do i get out of it! I never loved him as much as he did and he suddenly flipped.

I (30F) was in a 10-month long-distance relationship with my ex (34M). We had our issues, mainly because I wasn’t ready for marriage yet and often wanted him to be more ambitious and passionate. Despite that, he loved me but j was never sure! He knew that because i was open abojt it and always wanted to be honest. We spoke everyday and he was always so warm and we had taken a lot of trip together and he had come tk my house and i had gone tk him and we travelled like 6 times and that is mostly 35 days of being together in a 10 month long relationship and i kept bringing it up that it dosenr work etc! But he said it will.
In May, I broke up with him. A few days later, he called me from the hospital after suffering panic attacks from heavy drinking. He was crying and asked me to talk to him, so we got back together. We briefly broke up again in June, but he told me he loved me and wanted me back.
Two weeks ago, he told me he had gone to meet a girl through an arranged marriage setup. I was shocked because he had never given me any reason to believe he was cheating, and just the day before he was calling me pretty and acting completely normal.
He said he would probably say yes to her. Feeling betrayed, I texted his father saying he had cheated on me. His father never replied, but his mother apparently found out and started crying. He then told me to leave him alone because he was under family pressure and said I never accepted him for who he was.
Just days earlier, he had suggested we take three months apart and see how we felt. Then he suddenly told me never to contact him again. His sister later told me he had already had his roka and was getting engaged the next day.
I’m heartbroken, not just because he left, but because someone who was telling me he loved me and wanted me back seemed to move on almost overnight. I can’t understand how his heart changed so quickly.

My boyfriend till 2 weeks ago is getting engaged tomorrow to someone else!!!

Note: used AI to help shorten jt!

I am heartbroken!!! I cannot eat!!! I am unable to stop feeling anxious!!!! When will it be ok when i wasnt truly even in love but he left me!!

I (30F) was in a 10-month long-distance relationship with my ex (34M). In May, I broke up with him after a series of fights. A few days later, he called me from another number because I had blocked him. He was in the hospital after suffering panic attacks from drinking too much. He was crying, scared, and asked me to just talk to him for a while. I cared about him deeply and didn’t want him to go through that alone, so we slowly got back together.
After that, things felt normal again. We spoke every day, spent hours on FaceTime, and he was affectionate and loving. We broke up for a day again in June, but he texted saying how much he loved me and wanted me back. We got back together. We definitely had issues—I often felt he wasn’t ambitious enough, didn’t read enough, wasn’t curious enough about the world, and I wanted a partner who would dream bigger. Those differences caused a lot of our fights, but despite that, I stayed because I genuinely cared about him.
Two weeks ago, I was in Jammu for a wedding and asked him if he wanted to come for the weekend. He said he couldn’t because he had work with his father near North Delhi. I believed him because, throughout our relationship, he had never given me any reason to think he was cheating or speaking to someone else. In fact, we had spoken normally the previous day. He told me I looked pretty and cute on our video call, and nothing felt different.
The next day, he texted saying, “Call me when you can, it’s serious.” When I called, he admitted he hadn’t gone with his father. He had gone to meet a girl through an arranged marriage setup. That hurt, but I also knew his family had been pressuring him to get married for a long time. He knew I wasn’t ready yet because we were long distance, both figuring out our careers, and I wanted us to be financially stable before taking that step.
Everything fell apart after he told me he would probably say yes to her. I felt completely betrayed and, in the heat of the moment, texted his father saying that his son had cheated on me. His father never replied, but I later found out that his mother saw the message and apparently started crying. He later told me to leave him alone because he was already under immense pressure from his family. He said that every time he brought up marriage, I brushed it aside. He said I always found faults in him—that he wasn’t intelligent enough, wasn’t funny enough, didn’t read enough, and that I couldn’t love him for who he was. Those were genuine issues between us, and I understand why he felt that way.
What has shattered me is how quickly everything changed. Just four days earlier, he had told me maybe we could take three months apart and then see how we felt. When I told him that him meeting another girl had made me question everything, he said he understood and would be sad if that meant we couldn’t work things out.
Then, within days, he coldly told me never to contact him again because he was moving on. When I video-called him, he said he had already said yes to the girl. Unable to process how quickly everything had changed, I called his sister, who told me he had already had his roka and was getting engaged the next day.
I feel completely shattered. It’s not just that the relationship ended—it’s how suddenly and coldly it happened. Just days before, he was telling me he loved me, calling me pretty, talking normally, and saying we could revisit the relationship in a few months. Then, almost overnight, he was engaged to someone else and telling me never to contact him again. I haven’t been able to eat properly, I’ve been crying constantly, and I can’t make sense of how someone’s heart could seem to change so quickly.

Which mic should i buy under a budget

I have a Sony A6300, but I’ve barely used it because I’ve always been intimidated by the technical side of filmmaking.
Right now I need it for research on my documentary. I’ll mainly be shooting sit-down interviews and some run-and-gun footage. At the moment, I only have the camera, and I’m planning to buy a basic tripod.
One thing that’s really important to me is getting good audio. Since this is primarily for research and writing, I don’t need a full production setup, but I do want the interviews to sound clean and usable.
I’d like to avoid lavalier microphones because I don’t want to touch or wire up the people I’m interviewing—it makes them more self-conscious. Is there a camera-mounted microphone that can capture clear interview audio without needing a lav? If so, what equipment would you recommend for this kind of documentary research setup that balances simplicity, portability, and good sound quality?
I also am broke and doing it for my featyre film so its research footage mostly. So anything under a few k’s that will give me decent quality pls.

Female actors who could have been bigger stars if some films were offered to them

While we have ranveer and ranbir as make stars who are stars as well as decent/brilliant actors, i feel that is missing in the female star/actor range.

have always been closely watching the kind of actors that come get a chance and stay. However not everyone who makes it big, their acting is only good for 2-3 roles where a lot of workshops has gone in and there is a clear language change so we feel like they are good actors : example - Alia bhatt and in gangu and gully boy. She overused this in all her fillm. Sara and kriti sanon etc.

Now the main point of discussion is who do we think are female actors who are genuinely good and can and should be in the limelight than average talent and could have been both stars and known for good acting which will also result in better female centric cinema coming iut and doing better.

For me

  1. vidya balan- i think she is so good

  2. kangana ranaut (hate her now but she is one of the best actresses to have come out of the last 2 decades)

  3. tripti dimri ( can build the stardom but brilliant actress, v prettt as well & seems to know acting defo)

  4. Tapsee & Bhumi ( while i dontlike them personally for the repetition and films choices, i do think they are better actors than the whole lot of ananya and jhavi and even Alia)

  5. TABU!!!!! No match. Despite being old, she has a brilliant screen presence, the face, the innocence. All of it. I would still watch her over anyone else.

  6. Radhika Apte - if it wasnt for netflix and its iver exhaustion i think Radhika Apte is one of the most brillaint actors we have in the industry. I want her to be paired w Ranveer singh! I think she is beautiful as well as funny and good craft wise.

Pls add on.

How do i embrace loneliness or being alone as a (30f)

I turned 30 this year, and after this breakup I’ve had to admit something difficult about myself.
I met someone who wasn’t really what I wanted, but I stayed because I didn’t want to be lonely. He loved me deeply. I liked him, but I was never fully convinced we’d work. I kept hoping he’d grow into the kind of person I could see a future with, especially career-wise and in terms of independence. I was honest with him about that.
We spent the last 8–9 months talking for hours every day, travelling together whenever we could, and building a routine around each other. I never called him my boyfriend with complete certainty, and he knew that.
A few days ago, he told me he’d met a girl through an arranged marriage setup and wanted to move forward because he’s turning 35 and wants stability. I was shattered. Ironically, instead of me leaving him like I always thought I would, he left me.
What hurts the most isn’t that I lost the perfect partner. It’s that I lost the person who filled the silence.
I’ve realised this isn’t the first time I’ve done this. I keep getting into long-distance relationships with men who aren’t really right for me because they protect me from being alone with myself. I spend hours every day talking to them instead of facing my own life, my work, and my ambitions. I tell myself my career is my priority, but my actions haven’t reflected that.
I think I’ve been using relationships to avoid myself. There’s something about being alone with my own thoughts that terrifies me. Keeping my goals vague and having someone constantly available feels safer than confronting what I actually want to build.
Now I’m back at my parents’ house, unemployed because I stepped away from my career to help my father, and for the first time in years there’s no one on the other end of the phone. I don’t just miss him—I miss being loved, being reassured, and having someone there.
I know therapy would help, but I can’t afford regular sessions right now. More than analysing the breakup, I want to understand why I’m so afraid of my own company and how I stop using relationships as an escape from building the life I actually want.

Note: used ai to help shorten it. It was too long

How to embrace loneliness

Feel free to judge me but i need to be honest with myself and whoever who can help me!

I am 30 this year. Met this guy who wasnt what i was looking for but since i work in areas with no friends and had to leave bombay for my work in october, i decided i will just focys on my career or whatever but i also am a very easily distracted person. While i claim that my career is my priority i have come to a conclusion it is not. The guy i was seeing liked me more, claimed to be in love which i know he was and i wasnt sure about hum and i knew that i was kinda training him to be the person i would like and i also knew it wouldnt work but i stayed because i didnt want to be lonely. We would do video calls and even tho he was emotionally what i needed, it was ok. I thought not everyone gets a chance to get out and taste life and maybe if he sees it thru me why not. In the last 8-9 months since we met, we have travelled. He stays in delhi and i moved around india and he visited me and we met almost every alternate month.

On sunday he surprised me notnin a good way. He has made it clear that he loves me but i needed him to do well and i wanted him to see what he can do career wise if he got out. (I cant be w a man who lives w his family since inhave been in boarding schools and be hyper independent) so i needed him to see what this life is and maybe then i would take it more seriouslyz he was sweet, good looking and even physically attractive but mot emotionally so much so i knew it wouldnt work and i told him the same. We broke up and we patched up and this went on since june till this sunday he told me he went and saw a girl in an arranged marriage setuo and he is going to be turning 35 this year and he needs to have a stable relationship. While i knew he wanted thus he never pressured me. Things took a turn where instead of me dumping him, he kinda dumped me. He is hurting, i am hurting, his fam and my fam knows even tho it wasnt serious. Its been exactly 2 days since i stopped talking to him and i realised that what i miss is the constant need of someone being around me virtually. We would talk for hours and i would sometime sleep while he was on the phone. He let me be myself but i wasn’t totally ready to even call him my boyfriend. He knew it. However the main things is idk how to be less lonely. I have had similar situations where i did Ldr to make myself less lonely and they all ended and i hoped but this time i dont want to do it. I realised how mych time i waste talking to men who firstly are not what im looking for but why am i escaping being with myself all the time? I am so scared to be alone w myself. There is some safety in the vagueness of my ambition and goals that i end up wasting my time w men who i dont even like so much! However, i never cheated. He did when he saw that girl and tomd me later and he actually told me he wants to say yes. That shattered me because there was attachment. I fought with him, got a lot of ppl involved, cried etc and we decided not to talk again. He texted me and all i want was that he be happy but i am the one who isnt. I am the one who is again after years of escaping being alone, alone. He has a dog, he stays w a fam, he has friends and i am currently at my parents place feeling inadequate and i am not even busy enough. I know therapy is way forward but i can do it once or twice but i cant afford to go back agaun and again because i am unemployed since my father needed helo w his work. I am completely lost and im sitting in my room where i would talk to him for 2-3 hours a day and sleep to his assurance of love. I loved being loved by him and even tho he made the right decision to dump me, i am really struggling with being all alone (not alone that i fear being lonely but just me w my thoughts and no one to talk to or have around )

I have serious fucking issues and i have realised i wasted my late 20’s escaping work/life into all thus. I also think LDR was a conscious choice so tht i have control and i am not that hurt by the end of it all. Idk what to say and i have analysed it enough but i need help!!

My DAD’s debt has taken me down as well in all aspects!

My dad is in so much debt that i have gone in debt!

Help and advice pls!

For context, I’m from the Nepal–India border. My dad built everything from scratch with his two brothers. They eventually split the business and the land, but somehow most of the debt stayed with my dad. He’s 68 now and still trying to keep everything afloat. He has around ₹4 crore in loans.

I’m 30 and moved back from Mumbai, putting my filmmaking career on hold to help him. Most of what I’d earned over the years went into repaying people he owed. We still have our house, which is quite big, and I’ve been trying to figure out if we can turn it into a source of incomea cafe/restaurant, rental, anything but nothing has really worked out yet! We dont have tje capital to turn it into anything so its just a garden space.
The city I’m in also doesn’t feel very safe for women, so finding work here isn’t straightforward & my dad is against me running a cafe which i can fight off once i have money.
Now I’m stuck. Do I stay and try to build something here to help my family, or do I go back to Mumbai and continue chasing my film career? That path is uncertain too—I’m trying to make my first feature through grants and international producers, with no backing yet.
I feel like I’ve lost a lot of the confidence I had a year ago, even though I’ve delivered projects worth ₹40–60 lakh. I genuinely don’t know what the right decision is anymore.

I am very scared and i fear my fear will turn into months of me not doign anything and then regretting it. Idk if i have the ability to invest and see that fail because we genuinely do have the risk capital!

But why do i need tk be toxic when i can leave?

I’m a 30F semi-based in Bombay but currently living elsewhere for work (NE). The guy I’ve been talking to is from Delhi. We spoke for a few months, and then he flew down to Bombay to meet me. We have takesn a lot of vacations together (new years/his birthday/ i went and stayed at his parents house and he stayed at mine as friends ofc) From the beginning, I knew he was more into me than I was into him if I said yes, he’d be all in. I’ve always been honest that I’m not sure about him to the point he said he will like if i give him a chance.

That uncertainty is where I feel like my toxic side comes out. I know he likes me more. He’s good-looking, tall, fit physically very much my typewhile I’m tall but overweight. He’s 33 and has never really lived away from home, whereas I’ve been independent for the past 15 years through boarding school, college, and work across different cities. So our life experiences and perspectives are quite different.

Financially, he doesn’t earn that much right now, but that doesn’t bother me because he spent years preparing for UPSC and only recently started his career. What bothers me more is that our sense of humor doesn’t match at all. He doesn’t get my jokes, my tone, or my comebacks. Every reel i share sometimes what is a satire he just dosent get it & it annoys me. I tried to overlook that because he’s genuinely a good person. He takes feedback well and has even started understanding things like feminism in a sincere, non-performative way. He’s still learning and growing, especially because he knows I don’t connect with him intellectually.

I do enjoy the fact that he likes me and that I don’t feel as lonely while working in a remote area. But we keep getting into fights. Often it starts with something small — like me explaining a joke or the reaction I expected — and he defends himself by saying his reaction is natural. I know it is, but I still want him to see things differently, or at least have a certain kind of humor. I make him laugh more than he makes me laugh.

Lately, I’ve started questioning why I’m even with him. My constant nitpicking is starting to annoy him, and I’m also asking myself why I’m doing this to him. Is it just because I don’t want to feel alone?

He looks like the kind of man I always imagined being with, but mentally and intellectually, he doesn’t match me. Recently, after a fight, I blocked him. He had started giving me self-help style advice while I was being emotional, and it irritated me. I told him to stop. In a way, he was doing what I often do to him analyzing and correcting but from his perspective, that’s just how he responds.

I don’t nitpick everything, but I do notice gaps — his knowledge feels surface-level, he isn’t very aware of what’s happening in the world, and things like not even having a voter ID bother me because I see them as important.

At this point, I feel like I’m trying to manufacture a version of him that works for me, and that makes me feel terrible. Because at the core, he’s a very sweet person if I ignore everything else. Sometimes I even wish I were simpler so I could just accept him as he is. I know he really likes me and would take care of me, but recently it’s become overwhelming. He’s trying to come across as smarter or more thoughtful, and I end up pointing out flaws or inconsistencies in what he says, which just creates more friction. SHOILD I KEEP HIM BLOCKED OR SHOILD I MEET AND TELL HIM THIS ISNT GOING TO WORK? He is going to be sad and i have tried to do it earlier and failed! I dont trust my own self to leave because i am so use to this

Sorry for the long message?
