It's an anthology series about this 'grim and gritty' cyberpunk city that aired back on HBO in the 90s. What's more, its created by Ralph Bakshi, who created Cool World, Wizards and the animated Lord of the Rings. These are some of my favorite films, as I love trippy adult animation.

We see her sent to the prison. Being led thru the hallways while the other inmates shout and cat-call her. We see her beaten up by another inmate, then her head gets shaved. Then we see her sweating and crying and begging for her life while she's led to her death. THEN we see her naked on the operating table with butcher cut diagrams all over her like a meat animal. It doesn't end until we see her euthanized from HER perspective, all the while she's whimpering in a very sexually charged way.

In the episode 'Sex Drive' the villain is this creep that abuses and kills prostitutes. When the girls finally kill him at the end of the episode, we only see the shadows on the wall and the women swinging their weapons at the camera. It doesn't even last 10 seconds.

Riddle me this. Why does the male villain get barely 10 seconds of comeuppance, while the female villain has the last quarter of the episode getting one of the most drawn out, sexually charged, humiliating defeats you'll ever see?
I was unlucky enough to stumble across this series while poking around TvTropes. It's called Setting Things Straight With Brats, and very much like Shield Hero, it seems to be blatant revenge fantasy against the mean ol' girls that ruined the author's life in middle school.

Each story is a brief but joyless event where the boy is bullied/mocked by the girl, only for him to get some overblown revenge on his tormentor sound familiar? While bullying in school is a serious issue, this series rolls in wanton, misogynistic cruelty like a dog rolling on a dead fish. The first chapter is literally just the girl mocking the boy, the boy decks the girl, the end!
Each story is pretty much the same thing, to the point where you can practically smell the author's bitter tears thru the screen. Most of us on this sub agree that Malty is based on someone the author hates in real life, and Shield Hero primarily serves as their revenge vessel. I strongly believe that the same can be said in this series as well. It's so determined to focus on anger and bitterness, some of the stories even have the girls attempting to apologize for their earlier bullying, only for the boy to still angrily (and often violently) reject them.
Because choking a grade schooler is such a triumphant moment?
The one positive thing I can say about this shit, is that it proves that this is not the way to deal with your issues. Art is often used as a coping mechanism for many people, myself definitely included, but this is inarguably not a healthy way for the author to address their demons.
It reminds me of a quote by Francis Bacon: 'This is certain, that a man that studieth revenge keeps his own wounds green, which otherwise would heal and do well.'

In a world with villains who have confusing and ever-changing motives, Malty remains very simple in what her goals are and what she wants to accomplish. In short, Malty’s goal is to become queen. And she’s willing to claim the throne by any means necessary.
Why does she want to be queen so bad you may ask?
Because becoming queen is the only way she can escape being raped/torture to death!
Why would that happen to her you may ask?
Because her own mother, the current queen, sold her as a political sex toy to a serial killing, rapist, pedophile called the Ping King, who is in charge of the most advanced kingdom in the land called Faubrey. Literally his kingdom is far advanced, it has cars, planes, guns, and hospitals.
Needless to say, many other nations want to be a part of his table. So, he demands that the other kingdoms have their women sent to him as 'toys' to rape and torture them until they’re just a puddle of gristle and fat on the floor. Then he heals them back to 100% with magic just to start all over again. This can go on for weeks or even months, until he gets bored and demands a new toy.

Hello everybody!
For this newest entry, I want to focus on one of the many ironic lessons Malty gives us.
Throughout Shield Hero, Malty has had a rather colorful history. She's been repeatedly objectified, mocked, threatened, beaten, disowned, nearly killed, and the subject of more bouts of vicious public humiliation than most other people can even comprehend. But one thing remains ironclad about her character. She does not give up.
No matter how bad things ever get for her, no matter how many times her enemies hurt her and laugh at her misery, she will never give up. No matter how much she's dragged thru the mud, she will stand up and continue to fight.
The delicious irony of all this is very simple. The author, only seeing their hate-boner for whoever Malty is a stand-in for, wants to see her tortured time and again. So that involves keeping her around! Yet therein, that gives Malty an unbreakable will to keep moving forward and not letting the past stop her. It's truly motivational, that no matter what Hell she's dragged thru, she comes back just as strong and just as determined as before! Way better than Naofumi, who has everything spoon-fed to him, yet still loves playing victim! We can all learn from that!

As soon as I saw this meme, I thought of Malty. Mainly because she reminds me how dangerously numb the general public has gotten to casual misogyny.
To me, recognizing how poorly the media treats women can be a big step in seeing how sexism has such a presence in our world. When you think about it, Naofumi has little to complain about. He bounced back pretty damn fast from his banishment, people started trusting very quickly and some even acted like nothing was the matter. Yet he has this annoying chip on his shoulder like he's unfairly treated and faces prejudice on a daily basis. Even after he gets the damn QUEEN in his pocket, he still acts this way. It's very pathetic, especially considering he's a slaver......
Meanwhile, poor Malty is treated like the ultimate evil, yet from what we're shown, she's on par with most 'mean girls' from high school dramas. Life ain't fair!
