Have Ring cameras killed the high-school house party?
I found out my sister left behind my 16-year-old nephew during a family trip. I asked if he was going to turn the house into a party zone like we used to when parents were gone, and she pulled up all the cameras on the house.
I know it made no economic sense, but Chicago being a World Cup city would have been insane.
The whole city is already going crazy, can you imagine what having actual games here would have been like?
You almost have to admire how stupid this is
Possible Bait & Switch
Been hunting for a Toyota Tacoma, moved towards the TRD OFFROAD as it makes sense in my rural area. Had gotten this paperwork from a dealership that had broke down the cost, manufacturer accessories etc. Told them I would consider it & after deliberating on it was prepared to but wanted to try & negotiate a little lower based upon the $50,584.
What I was unaware of was the fact the price did not include the dealers add-ons (they installed fender flares, tires & rims, leveling kit & a pro grill) totaling an additional $5,000 in dealer markup.
Is this a bait & switch legally speaking? I'm just a bit perplexed as I asked for a total breakdown of the cost of the truck and it would have been nice to know there was an extra $5k in the price. I've attached the first sheet & the second image is the top part of the first sheet and the second sheet showing the advertised price/selling price section.

Minivan models with the best and worst value retention over 5 years
We posted some value-retention data around SUVs a few weeks ago and it really seemed to resonate. Found some more data c/o CoPilot that we can share.

wsj.comSUV models with the best and worst value retention
Last week I posted a chart on which SUV brands had the best and worst value retention. A bunch of you wanted to see what the numbers were for specific SUV models, so I went and found them!
Hilarious way for rich people to excuse themselves getting black-out drunk…
Was watching Your Friends & Neighbors. First, how any of these middle-age people drink this much and still wake up in the morning is bonkers.
Anyway, one of the characters got trashed at a dinner and when confronted about it days later, they said it wasn’t their fault because they were “over served.”
Definitely going to use this the next time I eat 4 doughnuts and am asked about it.
5-year data on what SUV brands are the best and worst at retaining their value
Feeling bad for service workers…
Any time my dad interacts with a service worker at a coffee shop, department store, big-box chain, etc. there is always the uncomfortable mix of:
Him saying how lucky they are to have a job
Expecting them to know an insane amount about random products
Creating a service bottleneck by monopolizing their time asking questions they would not know the answer to.
A complete misunderstanding that these workers get paid crap and have no reason to care outside of getting through the day
Asking what their commission will be on stuff that definitely doesn’t have commission (e.g. random crap at a pharmacy)
Just venting.
Countries where it’s easiest to buy a second home
I’ve been working out of a bunch of warmer countries recently to see where I would want to spend more time when it’s winter. For those of you who have bought a second home abroad, what was the process like compared to buying in the States.
Countries I’m looking at:
Morocco
Australia
Spain
Portugal
France
Vietnam
