Should I transcode movie files that are in a XF-AVC codec?
I am working on a project. One shooter uses a Canon camera, and when I import the footage, the codec is XFGA. It works fine in Final Cut....and I'll be doing project editing in Final Cut....but I can't open any of these files with something like VLC. When I try to open in VLC, I get told "VLC could not decode the format "xfga."
Should I just edit as is, using the files FCP X created when importing? I dont see why not....but I've also never worked with this codec before or not been able to open something in VLC, so perhaps down the line this might be a problem.
Any advice?
