Niti Valley Route Alert - Tamak Bridge Washed Away (Chamoli, Aug 10, 2026)
° Affected Area: Long-Tamak, approx. 37 km ahead of Joshimath on the Joshimath-Malari Highway
• What it connects: This valley bridge was the critical link route connecting Joshimath to Niti Valley and the Malari border villages - the lifeline for the entire Niti-Malari valley belt
! Current Status:
• Bridge swept away by a swollen river
• Road to Niti Valley currently NOT accessible
• 17+ villages cut off from the main route
• Advisory for travelers/tourists:
Postpone any planned trips to Niti Valley, Malari, Gamshali, or Bampa until further notice
• Do not attempt to travel via Joshimath-
Malari Highway beyond Tamak
