Gnome Acrylic on canvas
🌲✨ The Slavic Gnome – Guardian of the Forest and Ancient Beliefs Acrylic on canvas 60x60 cm
Gnomes have held an important place in Slavic imagination for centuries. These small, bearded beings in red caps can be both protective and mischievous. Although often associated with households, many legends also describe forest gnomes – spirits hidden among moss, ferns, and old roots.
🌿 The forest gnome watches over clearings, paths, and ancient trees. It helps wanderers with good intentions, while those who deceive or disrespect the forest may find themselves led astray. In Slavic folklore, this tiny creature lives in harmony with nature, the animals of the forest, and the changing seasons.
In art, they are often depicted as small, mysterious figures perched on old stumps, tucked into moss, or surrounded by mushrooms. This magical, fairy-tale atmosphere is what inspires many of my works.
