Wouldn't it be better to move to r/PalermoCalcio and leave r/Palermo to the city?
Wouldn't it make more sense for the football community to use r/PalermoCalcio and leave r/Palermo for the city of Palermo itself?
Right now, r/Palermo is unfortunately used for the football club, which can be quite confusing. There are still people who post about the city there, while others assume that the subreddit is about Palermo FC.
On top of that, people are often redirected to r/palermo_city, which, in my opinion, is a rather unfortunate name for a subreddit about the city. It makes the whole situation even more confusing, especially for people who are new to Reddit or simply looking for a community about Palermo the city.
I don't really understand why the football club community needs to occupy the most obvious name for the city when there is already a perfectly reasonable alternative: r/PalermoCalcio.
Wouldn't it be cleaner and less confusing if:
- r/Palermo → the city of Palermo 🏙️
- r/PalermoCalcio → Palermo's football club ⚽
That seems much more intuitive to me. What do you think?
Should the Cup Winners' Cup make a comeback?
The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was a fantastic competition, and I still don't understand why UEFA decided to discontinue it after the 1998/99 season.
What made it so special was its unique identity. Unlike the European Cup, which was reserved for league champions, and the UEFA Cup, which mainly featured high ranked teams from domestic leagues, the Cup Winners' Cup brought together the winners of national domestic cups from across Europe. That meant you could see some of the biggest clubs on the continent facing teams that rarely had the opportunity to compete at the highest European level.
It also produced plenty of unexpected winners and memorable stories. The competition was played for 39 seasons and was won by 32 different clubs, with no team ever managing to win it in consecutive seasons. Barcelona were the most successful side with four titles, while Anderlecht, Chelsea, Dynamo Kyiv and Milan each won it twice. Dynamo Kyiv's two triumphs came in 1975 and 1986, while Belgian side Mechelen produced one of the competition's greatest fairytale victories by beating Ajax in the 1988 final.
At the same time, some of Europe's biggest clubs never managed to win it. Liverpool, Inter and Real Madrid, despite their enormous success in other UEFA competitions, never lifted the Cup Winners' Cup. Real Madrid, for example, have won the European Cup/Champions League 15 times, while Liverpool have won it six times and Inter three times, but none of them ever became Cup Winners' Cup champions.
The final edition was won by Lazio in 1999, when they defeated Mallorca 2–1 at Villa Park in Birmingham. UEFA subsequently merged the competition into the UEFA Cup, with domestic cup winners receiving places in that tournament instead.
Personally, I think bringing it back could give European football something it has lost: a competition with a genuinely different identity and a much greater chance of seeing unusual matchups, underdogs and clubs from smaller leagues going on deep European runs.
It wouldn't necessarily have to replace the Europa Conference League. UEFA could simply redesign the European club competition structure so that domestic cup winners once again had their own tournament.
Would you like to see the Cup Winners' Cup make a comeback? And if so, would you keep the old knockout format, or would you introduce a modern format?

🔵⚪ Updates to r/Como1907!
Hi everyone!
Over the past few days, we've been working on several updates to r/Como1907, with the goal of making the subreddit more recognizable, organized, and enjoyable for everyone following Como 1907.
We've changed quite a few things around the community, so we wanted to give you a quick overview of what's new.
🎨 A new look
We've refreshed the overall appearance of the subreddit, including the colors, banner, and icon.
We've also updated the sidebar to better reflect what r/Como1907 is about.
The aim is to make the subreddit feel more like a proper home for the Como community, both for long-time supporters and for people who have only recently started following the club.
🏷️ New and updated flairs
We've put quite a bit of work into the post and user flairs.
User flairs now include custom emojis featuring Como players. And there's a little more variety than just the current squad: we've also added players from previous seasons, so you can represent some of the Lariani who have been part of the club in recent years.
We've also added a flair for the manager, as well as flairs featuring the current Como crest and previous club crests, with the relevant period included. For example, you can choose a historical crest flair such as 2017-2019.
For post flairs, we've made a selection of the most useful categories and given them a cleaner look, with a standard emoji followed by the flair name.
Hopefully this will make it easier to organize posts while also giving everyone a few more ways to personalize their presence on the subreddit.
⚽ Automatic match threads
Another big change is behind the scenes.
We've installed apps that can automatically create match threads, meaning we won't have to manually create one for every game anymore.
We've set things up to cover all Como matches across all competitions, so match threads should be available automatically throughout the season.
💬 We'd love to hear from you
We've made these changes to improve the subreddit and make it a better place for everyone, but we're always open to suggestions.
If you have any ideas, recommendations or things you'd like to see added or changed, feel free to share them in the comments. Any feedback is welcome, whether it's about the new look, flairs, match threads or anything else related to the community.
There's no pressure, of course — we're simply happy to hear what you think and will take suggestions into consideration where possible.
The subreddit is ultimately a community built around Como fans, so we'd like to keep improving it together. 💙🤍
Thanks to everyone who's part of r/Como1907 and helps make this community grow.
Forza Como! 🔵⚪

🎨 Aggiornamenti di r/YoutubeITA!
Ciao a tutti!
