Dirt cheap books, records and movies

I’m a big fan of physical media, I collect books, comics, vhs casettes, music casettes, music cds and vinyl, as long as i can find them for super cheap. Visiting Vancouver from San Francisco, CA, do you have any store recommendations for me? I have some bookstores and record stores to visit on my list but i’m assuming the stores on my list are going to be rather expensive, if you have any underrated store recommendations let me know ( I don’t have a car but as long as public transportation takes me there I’m willing to give it a try!)

Thanks.

What do you think of the recent manga trends like exclusive covers and deluxe editions?

Curious to see what you think about the most recent trends?

I personally like the deluxe treatment for the most part, but not sure what to feel about exclusive covers yet.

Can malnutrition cause hair and nail breakage for vegans?

I’ve been a vegan for 5 years or so. For the past year and a half my hair has been breaking off so bad. This is virgin hair, i have been growing it out since i shaved it off completely 2 and half years ago. No hair dye, no chemicals, no heat. It’s not just the tips but breakage all over the hair, i have maybe half of my original volume left. For the past couple of months my nails have been terrible too, I can’t even grow them out, not even a little bit as they peel or break before that. I’ve been biotin for couple of months and it doesn’t help.

I suspect it’s thyroid. The problem is that I can’t really ask people about this since they will hit me with “oh it’s malnutrition, happening because you are vegan” bs. Before i dig deep into this and try to figure out what’s causing this before i turn completely bald, i want to rule out the nutritional aspect of it, anyone else experienced something similar before? Could it be something i’m not eating?

Thanks!

I want to do some hiking in Marin Headlands but i don’t have a car and lack of public transportation kind of scares me, i’ve been trying to find a route where i can get off the bus (off of 101, close to Fort Baker) do some hiking and take the bus again to go back but it looks like there is no busses running in the area, at all.

My current plan is hiking from that bus stop to the Marine Mammal center, according to the google maps, it’s roughly a 2 hour hike (which i can manage) and after visiting the mammal center, planning to take Uber/Lyft to Sausalito. Would i have reception in the area, would it be hard for me to find an uber? Is it safe for solo hikers?

Thanks!

I don’t remember seeing other white/silver haired characters in Berserk, actually humans with unusual hair colors is pretty rare.

Do you personally think Griffith is really pale and blonde? Or he has some sort of albinism?

I’m a very slow learner, mostly because I have a lot going on in my life, so my progress has been pretty inconsistent over the years. I’ve studied on and off, using a mix of different resources, and ended up learning things in a really random order. Now I’m in this awkward spot where I’m not even sure what my actual level is.

One thing I do know, though, is that my vocabulary is REALLY lacking. I’m hoping to take the N3 this year (if I can properly assess my level before August and feel confident about it), but right now my vocab feels far behind.

I’ve been using Anki (switching between a couple of decks) and doing some reading, but the words just aren’t sticking. I feel like I must be doing something wrong, it feels like I’ve been reviewing the same ~200 words for months without much progress.

Does anyone have recommendations for apps or decks to study N3 vocabulary? Ideally something mobile-friendly that teaches words in context (like sentences) so they actually stick. I’d really appreciate any advice from people who’ve passed N3 or higher. Thank you!

If you want, I can tighten it further for Reddit vs. Twitter vs. a Discord post—each benefits from slightly different tone/length.

I love it so much. I can’t wait for VIZ to translate volume 17, it’s Inoue’s magnum opus.

Somehow the scientists discovered mind reading and they were able to convince all governments (yes, all of them) to make it a public knowledge. Starting tomorrow, everyone else in 100ft range of you will be able to read your mind, and you will be able to read theirs.

And when i say mind read, i’m not talking about your “inside voice” but they will have direct access to all of your memories. Peed your pants in 4th grade? Had a crush on your neighbor who was in their 30s when you were a teenager? You were driving drunk one day in the dark and you hit something, it looked like a human being but you didn’t stop and kept going? All your secret fetishes, lies, desires, poop schedule… everything is public knowledge starting tomorrow.

But here is the thing. Governments do understand that some people might prefer privacy, so if you’d like to take the easy way out, you can get one of the suicide pills they are providing and not be a part of the new and fully transparent society that is starting tomorrow. And no, you don’t have enough time to get a house in the middle of nowhere, do farming and live on your own. You have lees than 24 hours to decide.

Are you taking the easy way out? Or are you going to be a part of the new world?
