My cyberdeck with a built in LoRa/gnss

It’s a pi 4b with a LoRa hat, ssd hat, and aluminum heatsink case. Don’t have them plugged in but you can see the lora and gnss sma connectors to the very left. Had already been using the pi+lora hat as a home server so that was a pretty plug and play upgrade

First cyberdeck is complete (for now)

Finally got my cyberdeck fully functional. I have plans for future upgrades, like an internal battery, better cable management, possibly another screen (either 0.94” OLED or waveshare e ink hat), 8gb pi 4B instead of the 1gb one I’m using now and some other miscellaneous things. Current setup: 10.5” display, 7 port powered usb hub, industrial machine keyboard, pi 4B 1gb booting from 512gb ssd vis ssd hat, aluminum armor case, waveshare LoRa/gnss hat, mini 5v fan for exhaust

It’s alive

First attempt at booting was a success. Still some minor things to do, like drilling a port and mounting the sma connector for my lora hat and making only 1 power cable come out but all the major things are working (screen, keyboard/touchpad, usb hub and booting from ssd)

From the same sale trail. It was the last day and everything was half off. Not a bad little radio. Picked up a 12v 7ah battery and some alligator clips at Home Depot today and I think I’m going to make it a mobile backpack unit. If anyone knows of a good antenna or stand for a firestik that would work great out in the field please drop a link in the comments. I’m also not opposed to a diy antenna so long as it can easily fit in a backpack

All of my parts finally got delivered yesterday and I decided to start getting everything assembled. Should be completely finished by end of the week. Parts lists will be included

Needs a power supply buy that should be easy enough to find. As long as it powers up and works, I’d call that a win

Picked it up from the local electronics store today. How’d I do? Can’t wait to get it installed and try it out

I would like to turn this 100ft roll of speaker wire into a 200ft dipole antenna with this splitter and connect it directly into my rtl sdr blog v4. Is there anything I’m not thinking about? I’d really hate for it to either fry my sdr or get worse reception than the dipole that came with it
