I am getting very tired of curated, AI generated, photoshopped pictures of China online, especially on this sub. Most of them seem to be posted by travel agents, who are trying to get you to go somewhere.

From my own experience, zoom out of any of those photos and there would be millions of influencer-wanna-be doing the exact same pose, kids screaming, parents yelling, and some loudspeaker blaring some warning or trying to sell something. There is usually a bunch of trash on the ground too.

I found a bunch of photos from RedNote to illustrate what real travel experience would look like so people won't set their expectations too high. I have my own photos and if you travelled in China you probably have similar ones yourself. And no, they weren't all taken on some special holidays; even during the weekdays it can be like this. Enjoy!

Update: to all the people here who are saying "just avoid peak times (the holidays, the student breaks, the noon-peak, the evening-peak, the weekends....)". Guess what. If everyone is avoiding the "peak times", then "off-peak" times become "on-peak" times. Plus these touristy spots are BIG MONEY businesses, they want on-peak at all times, so they'll literally find ways to get people here when it gets quiet.
