Three arrests after two men badly hurt in Tile Hill shooting
It’s getting harder to ignore the pattern. Every week it’s a new incident, a new police cordon, and the same old empty promises about offering reassurance. I don't understand why this is happening, and when will this stop.
I never realised how much pharmacists actually know until recently
I never really appreciated how much pharmacists actually know until something happened recently that honestly made me feel a bit guilty for underestimating them all these years. I went to collect some medicine and my prescription had accidentally got wet in my bag, so most of the writing was faded and difficult to read. There was a pharmacist there I hadn’t seen before, so I assumed he was new, and I kept insisting I’d just come back another day because I didn’t want any mistakes with the medication. Instead, he looked over the prescription, asked me maybe two quick questions about what the doctor had said and what symptoms I had, then immediately knew exactly what medicines were meant to be on it. Not only that, he explained what each one was for without even hesitating. I was honestly shocked, and if I’m being real, I think part of me doubted him because he looked young and unfamiliar. Afterwards, I even started casually asking him random questions about medicines out of curiosity and every answer was spot on. Proper detailed too, not vague guesses. Walked out of there feeling a bit embarrassed about how much I’d underestimated pharmacists in general. You lot genuinely have an insane amount of knowledge and I don’t think most people realise it enough.
Did anyone else suddenly become hyper aware of every bad driver after passing?
During lessons I was so focused on not stalling or messing up that I barely noticed anyone else. Now I spot people indicating late, drifting lanes or sitting on their phones constantly and it somehow stresses me out more than my own driving. This is really frustrating!
Bolognese Pasta at Peterborough City Hospital
I didn't expect it to be pretty good. I would actually give it a rating of 9/10. The beef was perfectly cooked and the balance of sauces was also perfect.
So Coventry Airport flights are done forever now?
sundayguardianlive.comSocial workers honestly deserve far more patience from the public than they get
I was at a council building recently waiting for something unrelated and ended up watching a woman absolutely lay into a social worker at reception over delays with a case. The social worker stayed calm the entire time even though you could tell she was already stressed and probably juggling ten other things at once. It honestly stuck with me afterwards because it made me realise how quickly people assume social workers just don’t care when half the time they seem completely overloaded. I know people can be frustrated with systems and delays, especially when emotions are high, but it did make me think social workers probably deserve a bit more patience from the public than they actually get. Feels like a lot of the anger aimed at them should really be aimed at the wider system instead.
Bank account needs proof of address, then flat needs a bank account and phone contract needs both somehow. This part is really difficult to deal with. Apart from this, everything is so easily manageable.
I saw the council was pushing everyone to record local wildlife on their phones for the global competition that ended on Monday. I spent an hour in Coombe Abbey trying to find something more exotic than a pigeon but failed. Did we actually beat any of the other West Midlands cities this year, or were we all too busy watching the Sky Blues parade to care about mapping biodiversity?
I’ve been reading up on payments on account and it feels like something loads of people get caught out by, even when they’re trying to stay on top of things. The idea of paying towards next year’s tax in advance makes sense, but it still seems to trip people up in real life. I’m trying to get my head around it properly so I don’t get a surprise later on, so curious where it usually goes wrong?
I’ve got a trip coming up soon and I’m a bit worried about relying on the WiFi on board. I might need to get some work done during the journey and I’m not sure if it’s actually usable or if it drops out most of the time. Just trying to figure out if I should plan around it or not.
I’m trying to get a 4x4m room skimmed over old Artex (which has been tested and is clear, don't worry). I’ve had one guy quote me £400 cash in hand and another firm tell me it’s a two day job for £1,200 because they want to over board the whole ceiling. I started wondering if I’m paying for the skill or just the brand of the van parked outside. Is the over boarding crowd just trying to up sell me, or is skimming over Artex truly the gamble that some people claim it is?
According to the map i should have great signal but in reality it’s hit and miss. Wondering how accurate those maps actually are.
Did anyone catch the British Retail Consortium report this morning? Shop price inflation has eased to about 1.0% year on year, not actually falling, even if there was a small dip from Easter discounting. Confidence is still pretty weak too. GfK’s down to around -25, and other measures on the economy and personal finances look just as bleak, but not every metric is at a “lowest since 2023” level. So if sentiment’s this shaky, why are UK retail stocks still holding up? I’ve got Next and M&S, and after that wobble earlier this month, they’ve steadied. Feels like this Spring Rally might be more about margin management than real demand. Are people actually spending, or just being nudged by promotions? I’m tempted to take some profits, but not sure if the usual May sell-off will actually happen.
