How to deal with nightmares

I've had traumatic nightmares for a few years now and they had stopped when i got out of depression, but lately they have been coming back because i'm very stressed and i think a memory is trying to resurface.

I've never really learned to deal with my nightmares, the only, solution let's say, that i've found is to sleep with the lights on or a projector. Sometimes that also fails.

So except for working through the trauma obviously, what can i do to help me get through the night when i go to sleep and if i wake up from a nightmare ?

I'm trying to get back into therapy soon, i know that's the long term solution, but i would love to find something that works when it's happening.

Just had a panic attack

So for context, i have recovered a little from my cptsd and got out of depression, and lately i've had nightmares again and my anxiety is spiking again. I'm having panic attacks again.

I live apart from my partner for now and i came to visit him during my time off work, for a week. This has been a real vacation for my nerves, i didn't take medication at all during that week. Today is saturday, tomorrow i have to leave and on Monday i have to work again and i panicked like crazy.

But now i know i'm capable of being okay without any help and i know my partner being there really helps but if i really need him when we are far away he does help me as well.

Why is it so difficult for me to be alright all the time then? Do i really have all these problems or am i making it worse somehow? But i'm not overthinking that much though. I am pretty rational about all this when i'm getting anxious and i can calm myself down or do what i need to help me. I'm a little lost here, now i know i can do better but i just don't know how when i'm far away from my partner.

Unconditional love is really helping me. I cannot wait to be done with studying so that i can go live with him. I know i can get through this but i feel like i'm making it worse for myself somehow

Sensory overload

I'm not yet diagnosed, but since i have accepted the fact that i'm autistic i have regressed so much it's impossible i'm not. (A few months and soon to be diagnosed)

During that time i have gradually been feeling worse about sensory overload. It used to be a problem, but i would rest or put headphones on or go somewhere alone and would be fine.

My usual mechanisms are failing me.

I'm sooo tired, triggered by everything and really i'm miserable on that front.

I'm not isolating from noise (it's the worst sensory overload for me), only if i really cannot stand it anymore because i don't want to become even more sensitive, but i feel like cutting my ears out at this point.

I hear everything, all the time, and even "good" sounds start to sound awful.

Usually that is the worst it could get.

I'm starting to get overly triggered by textures as well and my hair and people looking at me and omg i am spiraling and don't know what to do anymore😅

Should i just isolate until i'm better? What am i supposed to do?

(I do have a lot on my plate right now, but even when solving these problems it doesn't diminish)

Looking for a dark lip tint

I'm looking for a lip tint that can last me all day. I'm not too much a fan of lipstick and i don't mind if it's not as saturated as lipstick.

I would like to find a dark lip tint that's reddish or purpleish, for a more alt look. I'm trying to transition into alt makeup.

Need recommendations

I've loved to read books when i was younger and then it got really hard for me to read, although it's easy for me to read a 400 page book in little over a day if i like/love the story.

I would love to read more again, even if it's not as cultivated or diverse as i might like.

And what i can eat up and devour is smut, romance and fantasy. If it has all three absolutely awesome.

Have any recommendations?

(Please no sci-fi or aliens and if the romance is dark, no abuse or borderline abuse, it triggers me)

I want people to look at my hair and know I'm not straight

Basically, I've been growing my hair out for years and length is very important to me.

I'm looking for a hairstyle that will let me have my (soon hopefully) waist length hair without bangs (I'm not opposed to curtain bangs though) and will look cool with wavy hair. (I know my hair looks shorter but i swear if i straighten it its almost 5cm longer than what it looks like)

I hate flat hair and i hate having hair in my face and not being able to tuck it behind my ear or attach it. (I'm autistic it triggers me)

For now i will not dye it until it's the right length because i want health over length. So for now it's quite boring and i want chaaaaaange🙌🏻

I would absolutely love an undercut or side buzzed with the side burns still there, but I'm not 100% confident enough yet to do that (i will someday hopefully)

Does anyone have an idea what i could do?

Would like some input

So. I'm undiagnosed, but i have autism for sure and specialists aren't sure about adhd, especially the hyperactive part.

But i have seen quite a few different psychologists and they mostly all told me i have an attention deficit at least.

I also have CPTSD though and i didn't really have adhd symptoms in my childhood, so some psychologists have told me it could be trauma and someone else told me that since i'm in autistic burnout right now that the adhd is getting out a lot more.

I don't know what's true or not but it doesn't matter, i'm neurodivergent and that's enough for me😂

But lately i have felt very restless and usually when i am it's when i'm anxious, but this is new because i just feel good and i can't sit still.

I suddenly remembered that this isn't new though, i've had this when i'm very happy or when i'm learning or invested in something or going back to school (i loved school) and i don't know how else to describe it but it feels like my synapses are growing. I feel the urge to move and do things, all the things. When i'm happy i do the racoon Pedro dance lol

Is this what hyperactivity feels like?

Like what i imagine how neurotypicals are cafeinated?

I have always had this but internally, like my mind goes around a thousand things and i get curious and research for hours or sit in the car and think and i'm miles away just asking myself how many bees it would take to have as many neurons as a human brain😂

I really have no idea how this is getting out now though because i just had a mental breakdown yesterday and usually i'm exhausted after that for a long time.

Help, my mom doesn't eat to her needs

My mom (54) has started voicing the fact that she thinks she's too fat (she may be overweight but barely).

She is in a bad headspace right now because she can't workout how she would like because of some health problems she has been having the last few years (i posted in a different subreddit about this)

I'm here to talk about diet though. She is starting to want to eat less and less and that's not the solution.

It has been years that with my father we know how we eat isn't the worst but also not the best and this would be a good start to alleviate some of the pressure on her shoulders.

But she doesn't listen (she's stubborn) and if it doesn't come from her she won't accept it.

What we are trying to do with my dad is eating more balanced and to everyone's needs. This is also hard because my dad wants to change our habits but he wants us all to eat the same thing. I could not care less if i ate something completely different than from my parents, but i understand that it's hard to handle cooking-wise.

We usually lack either protein, vegetables or pasta or rice (i'm not english i don't remember the word for that family of food) in our dishes.

My mom has never had a big appetite but my dad could eat a whole horse😂 we need to find ways to adapt one dish to everyone's needs.

My mom needs to not have to think about cooking, it needs to be easy and quick and my dad knows how to cook but he's not the best. I'm not living at home anymore so i can't help out on that front.

My parents have trouble with the concept of meal prepping on the weekend for the whole week but we do have a freezer and this is an option if used properly.

I'm all ears for advice, experiences, tips, recipes, anything really, I'm lost

Help my mom move again

So my mom (54) has had a multitude of health problems over the last years and she stopped working out and she is starting to develop an ED because she thinks she's fat. In fact she may be overweight but barely. (I made a different post about this in another subreddit)

My father has also had health problems and he can't do combat sports like he used to but he loves to move and would like to again. Me too, i was depressed and stopped combat sports but we are ready to start again.

Now is the opportunity to be able to get my mother to move again, because she isn't motivated, she is gerting depressed and anxious and she thinks she is doomed basically.

If we try to reason with her she doesn't see she has a problem and is in complete denial and won't accept help, so we need a sneaky way to implement more movement back into her life.

My father has shoulder problems and my mother has neck problems and broke her wrist a few months ago. I'm mostly fine but I'm hypermobile, so with the problems my parents have i guess joint stability and mobility is a good start.

Do you have any advice or a general direction we could go in to help out my mom?

I have researched for exercises already and i know where to find seated exercises or even lying down, so that's okay already but how do i get my (stubborn) mom to move again?

Help, my mom is developping an ED, don't know how to handle it

My mom hasn't bzen satisfied with herself for months now but my father told me today that she has voiced the fact that she thinks she is too fat and is starting to eat less. (I'm away from home for work and school)

My mom had an accident not long ago and has had a few health problems that made her stop to workout, because she was too diminished and it wasn't practical.

Now if she tries to move it hurts, but it hurts because she doesn't move. We'll find a solution for that elsewhere that's not my question here but it's just for context.

Because of that, she has seen her weight increase and for multiple reasons she isn't in a good headspace right now, so i understand where this is coming from but that's not the solution.

With my father we have tried to change our eating habits, especially since my mom voiced that she wasn't fulfilled with what we're eating, but we can't make it last.

I'm trying to reason with my dad because he likes for everyone to eat the same thing but we all have different needs and i think we could handle this but i don't know how.

I also don't know what to say to my mom to support her through this and help her, without her thinking that i'm trying to change something because she won't do it if she notices (she is really stubborn) and she has always thought nithing was wrong with her but she has chronic anxiety like i do, i know that but she doesn't accept it.

It's a little complicated and there are a few combined problems here and i'll post in different subreddits for the other problems, but i would really like some advice, i don't know what to do.

(My mom is 54 btw)

Have you found ways to counter your memory loss?

I have done a neuropsychological evaluation, and my memory IQ is really bad, especially compared to everything else. My short term memory is terrible and i don't really know what to do about it.

I'm not talking about memories of my trauma period, but i guess that's normal if i don't remember.

How do you let yourself feel emotions ?

I'm starting to understand that what is holding me back from healing is feeling my emotions.

I have CPTSD and autism so my emotions are usually big and in the past when i tried to feel the emotions i dissociated and i don't know how to do it, it brings me so much shame to feel my emotions

I need medication and be able to drive

Does anyone know what medication I could take to help anxiety without making me unable to drive? I still have to work.

I have an appointment soon so i'll ask for that.

I've already been on anxiety meds but it tends to not work or make me unable to do anything, so much so that therapists tried to give me anti psychotics but that was even worse.

For now everyone is sure i have CPTSD and chronic anxiety, I'm an almost diagnosed autistic person and maybe/probably ADHD but therapists are not sure about that one because of my trauma.

I know only a doctor will be able to help me out, but maybe someone has had a similar experience and I'm curious

How do you deal with the guilt?

I don't feel very ill and I always think people have it worse, but I feel like sh\*t most days, not necessarily in pain but i'm dizzy all the time and I'm trying to live with cptsd and limiting "symptoms" of adhd and autism.

I feel guilty compared to other people who are ill, but I also feel guilty to have needs and I'm trying to tell myself that i have the right not to be fine and to need to recover but i just feel lazy and completely unreasonable.
