Who exactly are pride events for?

On the surface level this seems like a dumb question with an obvious answer, LGBT people. But when you not only hear of the conflicting reports on people's experience on pride events but also people's beliefs on the purpose of pride events then what is believed to be the targeted demographics may be a lot more specific than previously believed.

I think it's widely known the conflicting experiences people had at pride events so I'm not gonna go into that but rather what people believe the purpose of pride events especially in relation to such experiences. One side essentially believes it's purpose is to show that LGBT people were no different than everyone else and to combat stigma and prejudices and to rally for civil rights and integration into societies institutions. But the other side has a different view one that had no interest in changing anyone's mind in fact it embraced stereotypes and prejudices and while also combating prosecution and discrimination seemed to operate more out of spite rather than an interest for any kind of integration and it's rebellion centered around hypersexuality with it being seen as the valid way of such rebellion although I should point out both versions are inherently rebellious just in different ways.

Now some people may merely just defend the hypersexuality in pride events I myself and not against adult events as long as minors are kept out of such events and family friendly events are actually family friendly I don't care. But then there those who think pride events should universally be centered around urban libertine cultures and any deviation even if it is to reach to more LGBT people themselves such as family friendly events as homophobic appeasement for straights and conservatives. Now I wouldn't really care so much about pride merely being for certain types of LGBT people centered around Libertines if it weren't how dominant and monopolistic pride as culture and form of activism is something I wish was more acknowledged.

No doubt LGBT activism is still needed but if these people's viewpoint's are indeed the correct viewpoint than there are problems because we have a form of activism that according to some of it's proponents is only meant for certain kinds of LGBT people rather than LGBT people generally as the globally dominant form of activism you don't think there's a problem here? considering the diverse needs, desires even within relation to the demographic(s) they're part of? Some may point to how people people did it in the past as justification but what about the needs of today? shouldn't lgbt activism be about doing what works best rather than just doing what the people of the past did? Not saying we can't acknowledge it but shouldn't we also work around today as well? So that's why I ask as someone bi myself who exactly are pride events for? Pride parades personally aren't my thing but I can't help shake the feeling that even if I wanted to go I may not be the targeted demographic anyway.

I’m actually considering buying a memory card blow the dust off the family PS2 either find an old working CRT either at home or either buying and checking out my local retro game store to buy some games. I’m looking to see if their is unique cinematic experience that makes it worth it over emulation or PC Port, grab a soda cook up some popcorn which I make myself not microwave and enjoy one of the greatest eras in gaming.

I actually tried to play a game like GTA vice city steam version but it’s very buggy very long loading times and you can’t even back up your car without limiting your fps to 30 so if I have to cap lock myself anyway I wonder what experiences that PS2 version may provide that would make it worth it over emulation or PC Port.

EDIT: A commenter made a good point on how much of a lot this varies by games so here are some PS2 era games that I'm interested and wonder if it should be played on PS2 + CRT, Emulate it or get the PC PORT

GTA Vice City and San Andreas

Timesplitters Games

God of War Games

Simpsons hit and run

XIII

Black

MGS 2 and MGS 3

Resident Evil Code Veronica X

Okami

Psychonauts

Silent Hill Games

I went to college with the hope of pursuing a career in cybersecurity this is not a career you can get right out of the door with degree. I was told it was possible to get a help desk job with an associates my initial was search for one and then go back to school part time but the job hunting went about as well as you’d expect my next plan was to maybe build up some certificates like Comp Tia and do some projects on Homelabs (if that’s what it was called) to add on my resume.

Now in retrospect this was impatient and wreck-less and I wasted a lot of time I wanted to get to making money as soon as possible and get my foot in the door and thought I could do that and study again but while I was studying for Comp Tia exams something happened I got burned out of IT and realized I didn’t really want to do it working 40+ hours a week on call just deal with customers shit over tech just so you could maybe work in cybersecurity years down the road was just not something I wanted to do and honestly I now realize I’m more into programming and software development side of things anyway not hardware and IT so I was lost but also hesitant to go back to school and the reason the poor career security even if I’d stay in school I feel like I would’ve struggled to find a job in IT and networking besides a lot of cybersecurity seems to be less pentesting and more pencil pushing for 50 hours a week.

The thing is though school is a big investment plus a job part time or full time and can be expensive so why go through all that if you’re going to struggle to find a job anyway. The worst part is the things I want to do that interested all seem to have difficult job markets such history I wouldn’t mind being a historian doing stuff with historical archives, wonders and items etc but there barely seems to be a career prospect. Game Development once again the job market is tight although that’s be more of a hobby for me anyway so I’d only go back to school and learn out of passion. Ecology I also hear is a tight job market and a big time commitment even though I am genuinely interested in nature and just going out there rather than being stuck in a retail or office environment.

Right now I’m trying to figure what I want to do but I also just don’t want work 40 hours a week It’s overwhelming and there would never be enough energy for me to enjoy my hobbies. Truth to be told I just want to be able to take care of my pets and be able to play on my computer and also be at peace over the idea that I will never find love. I don’t need much if I’m being honest I value my mental health over money so given that I don’t live alone I’m currently doing a job that’s meh but not working a lot and have savings and do help pay expenses but I’m just not really sure where to go from here I don’t want to stay like this forever and do want to move out of where I live. There’s also my worry about being burnt out again midway while studying for something given I got burned out and ditched my prospects before.

And I picked that range because it's the "core" 2000s years specific. Topics I wonder how this person would've felt about is:

Given how the 2000s were the peak of consumerism and also neoliberal economics how they would have have felt about the shift in protectionism would they have failed to sympathize with such sentiment given the society this person was part of?

For the people in youth countercultures or what I've seen refereed to y2k attitude how much they would've complained about content not being as edgy and "PC" although I would argue that content never really went away

Given the rise of 2000s nostalgia how this person would feel about that and how accurate it would be for that person if they would just call larp.

This one is more US oriented but how they would feel in the advancement of gay rights unfortunately American society was a lot more bigoted on this matter in the 2000s than today so I have a feeling that that same society would have same sex marriage nationwide in 9 - 15 years may come as a shock (and unfortunately for many disdain). I also wonder how a 2000 and 2004 Bush voter would have felt about Trump's secretary treasury pick. Granted a person from this time range who is more aware of international affairs would've been aware of countries like Canada or The Netherlands having same sex marriage so it wouldn't have been a foreign concept at this time.

I also have a feeling they would've been mortified at the foreign depending on the year this person would've been around at lowering support for the iraq war so it would've seemed bizarre that the what seemingly seems like the same foreign policy is still happening.

Four types of people I'm curious to see how they would've reacted to these topics are the pre 9/11 optimist, the third way liberal, the bush conservative and strangely the y2k attitude (idk what to call it) counterculture guy.

Feel free to bring up other topics that may warrant an interesting reaction form such people.

The people who romanticize the monoculture come across as some of the most privileged people out there who never considered what it’s like to be in the receiving end of the monoculture ie those who don’t fit in or conform.

Do people seriously think that outcasts and people who are into niche stuff don’t exist under Monoculture? It fucking sucks you there’s not much people to connect with over you’re interests and it’s very lonely the internet does help through global outreach letting you reach out to people all over the world but only so much, and I can only imagine the times before the internet. Not everyone is going conform or conform without issue just to fit in so I don’t see what’s to be gained by demonizing the idea of having more options more suited towards one’s interests. Monocultures are only great for those who have no issue conforming to it for everyone else it sucks.

This romanticization of forced conformity and hyper-consumerism is so bizarre. I get wishing to have more people to gush over your interests with someone as I myself also wish for that for my niche interests but is it really necessary to have 90% of people like what you like and is it really something you really want? Look at how much of a cesspool mainstream fandoms can be.

I’ve seen some people argue social cohesion but I don’t think cohesion will collapse because some people prefer to play and talk about Rune Factory over GTA.I think cohesion is maintained by far more than just media interest. To the people who romanticize the monoculture let me ask what if was stuff you didn’t like or care about that was the monoculture? what if was YOU that was on the receiving end? Suddenly monoculture doesn’t seem so great now.

I know people will say skill issue but while Rise of Nations is a fantastic game I always end up under resourced and the enemy AI ends up aging up before I do and I end up overrun by a technologically ahead army.

I want an RTS where I don’t want to worry about that (EDIT: too clarify not worry about it TOO MUCH I’d be fine with an easier economy or resource management) it’s shame because being able to go to modern times is what drew me to RoN. But in short I want to play with a bunch cool units and unleash carnage and destruction and is noob friendly where the beginners guide’s aren’t around an hour long. Not that I’m closed off to having various strategies and tactics but I want to be able to afford to take it easy with the learning.

Looking for an action RTS with the mentioned settings where to be frank I just want to destroy shit and blob the map and not worry too much about micro managing or being under supplied or resourced.

Rise of Nations is a great RTS game but 9/10 I have the issue of being under supplied in one way or the other the enemy AI always advances before I do and end up getting outgunned. It’s a shame because I’m actually drawn to the evolution to modern times something you can’t even do in Age of Empires. I want an RTS where you don’t have to worry too much about much about and can focus more on destroying shit and playing with cool units and is noob friendly especially where the beginners guide videos aren’t hours long That’s a red flag for what I’m looking for.
