DIM: Kindle Paperwhite

I currently earn ₱60,000 net monthly, and let’s say half of that ay napupunta sa needs like rent, groceries, etc.

Meron akong Macbook Neo na installment na matatapos by next year September.

It’s also hard to choose what book I’m going to bring. For example, dinala ko si book A pero ang bet ko pala basahin is si book B.

Pero ayun nga, marami akong bayarin pero a toxic side of me is saying kaya ko naman pagsabayin yon. Yung cravings ko sa kindle ay lumulubha. A logical side of me thinks it’s going to be an impulsive purchase pero kahit anong gawin ko, yung pull na bumili neto ay palakas nang palakas.

Bring your worst pls. Tell me the cons of owning Kindle that I don’t know. 😭

Please explain PS5 on a high level to a non-gamer

So basically, gamer yung boyfriend ko, and I'm planning to give him a PS5 as a Christmas present. Nagsearch lang ako to prepare for the price, tapos nawindang ako kasi may iba't-ibang klase pala. I don't know ano yung difference between nung cheapest price at yung pinakamahal, at natatakot ako baka mabili ko yung model na di niya pala gusto.

About my boyfriend, I can say he's really passionate in gaming. Malaki ang nainvest niya sa gaming setup, and it's years of pag-iipon before umabot ng worth 6 digits buong setup niya. The games I noticed na nilalaro niya ay DOTA, Valorant, probably PUBG, at yung iba pang mga laro na may baril barilan (sorry talaga boplaks ako dito). We also rented an airbnb na may PS5 at nilalaro niya yung basketball game.

Nakalimutan ko yung pangalan, and kelan nga yung release date non? I hope I'm not too late since December ko pa siya balak bilhin.

Bale sa search ko, there are different PS5 prices, and I think it differs based sa bundled game at sa storage(?) niya. The two types (please correct me if I'm wrong) na nakikita ko ay console disc lang ang nakalagay, at console slim disc. Ano yung difference nila? Design lang? Tsaka anong storage yung maaari kong bilhin na not too little but also not too much in terms sa standard ng games? Yung cheapest kasi nasa 825GB while yung pinakamahal ay 2TB.

Easiest solution would be to ask my boyfriend, pero gusto ko siya masurprise genuinely. I've been telling him hindi ko siya bibilhan ng PS5 since marami din akong gastos this year, so I expect that this gift will be unexpected. I'm planning on observing his gaming habits more and learn about PS5 on a high level para magka-idea ako ano mabibili for him. Also, as much as I want to buy the most expensive one, legit yung marami akong gastos but I'll do my best na makaipon for this gift. So I'd love it if you guys can confirm na yung mga medyo budget-friendly ones would suffice. 😄

But still, I'd reeeaally appreciate it if you guys can help me learn more about this. Thank you, gaming community!

If you secured a WFH job with a high salary, which place in the Philippines would you live in and why?

Aside from your birthplace/hometown, where? And why?

Is it a good practice to force yourself to write?

I've wanted to be a writer all my life, but sadly I spent decades listening to people who discouraged me from pursuing it.

I miss the times when the world around me becomes irrelevant. I only see me and my pen and paper. I miss that flow. I want it back.

I wanted to write a journal daily, and I'm not strict with the number of words. My friend also suggested this if I wanted to get to know myself.

However, there are a lot of times when my mind is just...blank. I daydream most of the days but the moment I try to write it down, it feels like my brain is stopping me from writing it. When I force myself to get some words out, my head aches a little bit. It also doesn't help that I'm diagnosed with ADHD.

I am also going back to reading books (another hobby that people discouraged me from).

So, is it a good practice to force yourself to write just for discipline purposes? Or if not, is there a way to get past this?

Dysfunctional, Cultish Family

I was born and raised in a dysfunctional family na ang priority sa buong buhay nila ay yung kulto na kinalalakihan namin.

5 years old pa ako non. Potangina, 5 YEARS OLD!

Lumaki akong walang alam sa dapat alam ko sana as an adult. Pagtitipid? Sa content creators pa ako natuto. Pagpili ng sariwang gulay? Prutas?

I can't blame them. Even now, people don't know what it's really like being in a cult. Elementary ako, nagccutting class ako not to hang out with friends or sneak sa computer shop, kundi tumatambay ako sa tahimik na lugar.

I have no friends dahil nineglect ko silang lahat para sa kulto. I don't know how to socialize dahil wala naman akong masabi na maganda tungkol sa buhay ko. I even struggle to recognize what normal is, kasi ang normal ko ay toxicity.

Tangina nalang talaga.

I am the sole tester of my team, and I feel like a fraud

My prior experience was focused on test automation. I rely on the functional team so much. They do all the test planning, test design, and all I had to do is automating the test cases they’ve done.

Right now, I am expected to do both manual tests and automate it. The app is already existing and all I do is test the changes and do a bit of regression. The testers before me left very confusing documents and no documented requirements. I am overwhelmed and feel like no matter how much I study, I don’t know how to implement them. I haven’t done any RTM, and I am not familiar with any manual testing documentations aside from creating test cases. I feel like a fraud and do only the bare minimum. Everyday, I am attacked by my impostor syndrome. I tried recreating the past test cases and document them in detail and automate them myself, but there are too many.

I honestly don’t know if I’m doing my job right. I only do retests and regression and I just feel like I should do more but I don’t know what.

I need your insight. Will I be very irresponsible if I shell out huge money prior to moving in?

I've been planning to go solo in another place for new experience and for my peace. This is not my first time solo living, pero first time ko dumanas magrent ng 2BR house na wala pang gamit. In all of my solo living journey, nauumay na ako sa studio, and I want to try na may separate rooms talaga for each activities than see my bedroom, workstation, and kitchen in one room.

For background, hybrid setup ako with only once a month RTO. I'm earning 60k net pay. Rent is 15k, and inaanticipate ko nang 100k masheshell out ko para bumili ng essentials like mattress, office setup, ref, at electric fan. I'd probably also buy a washing machine if kaya pa. I already have other things like air fryer, induction cooker, at pots and pans.

Regarding kung bakit 100k yung inaanticipate ko, I'm planning to invest in good quality kesa mag-upgrade in the future. More expensive but less hassle. Balak ko kasi tumira dito long-term.

For now, EF ko is 50k lang. But I have no plans na galawin siya since balak kong icredit card lahat tapos installment basis.

In theory, kaya ko siya. But maybe some of you guys here have experienced it, so kailangan ko ng insight niyo for unexpected expenses. Is this being responsible? Is this doable? Or am I biting off more than I could chew? 🙏

Any peaceful places na di ganoon kahirap ang commute to Makati?

So, nagkaroon ako ng trabaho within Makati na once a month lang ang RTO. I want to obtain work-life balance and aim to pursue becoming a novelist, so gusto ko sana yung lugar na peaceful.

Sayang kasi I fell in love with Marikina, pero all of my colleagues discouraged me dahil daw masyadong mahirap ang commute from there. Quick background: I'm from Cebu, so di ako masyadong familiar sa commute hassles ng buong Metro Manila.

Meron po ba kayong maisuggest na mga lugar na payapa but still di ganoon kahirap ang commute papuntang Makati? Thank you!

The Macbook Neo's microphone and speaker are SUCH AN UPGRADE!!!

Bear with me, this is the first macbook I own. Prior to this, I only experienced using windows laptops for work.

I don't need to attach any earphones or headsets to make myself audible. My boyfriend and I use facetime everyday, and I don't need to be near the macbook for him to hear me. According to him, he can hear me better than on a videocall via phone. I don't even need to make my voice loud. He can hear me even when I'm whispering!

The speakers? Oh boy! I have a bluetooth speaker I use when I watch netflix or play music. But with neo? Loud and clear, baby!!! I don't need another device to get the best experience!

I thought I'm going to regret this purchase, but it's definitely worth it!

▲ 3 r/ADHD

I am still in denial that I have ADHD, and now I feel sh!t for days without medication

Recently, I read this book called "Attention Span" by Gloria Mark, PhD. It helped me understand how my brain works a little bit, and how the rise of technology has greatly affected me.

As I read the book, I suddenly have this thought that maybe I don't have an ADHD. Maybe the psychiatrist misdiagnosed me, or maybe I was reading too much ADHD-related posts on the internet and made people's experiences as my own. Maybe I don't have ADHD, I'm just someone with similar symptoms. Oh my gosh, I reread this statement and I feel stupid.

I avoided the meds for days now and drank some coffee. Coffee does help me with my focus. Today, I didn't take any, and my brain feels foggy and heavy and I am constantly worried over stuffs my coworkers think I shouldn't worry about.

Last year, I experienced a very traumatic post-breakup abuse. After going to a new environment, I realized how toxic everyone was, even my family. So I thought that maybe my brain is how it is because I was constantly in survival mode. My coping mechanism was daydreaming for HOURS, NONSTOP, and that's when my psychiatrist said I do have ADHD.

Good news? The urge to daydream is becoming less and less now, even without meds. So maybe I was right, that I just need to heal for the ADHD-like symptoms to disappear. But still, I feel out of it. Maybe it's the diet? Maybe I should exercise more? But it's really hard to start and I just want to sleep all day.

I keep on thinking that I don't have ADHD, that my brain is just tired. But when I threw my keys in the trash and have ZERO memory of doing it, that was definitely real. Or maybe my brain was also tired that night?

I am tired of taking big risks for a man who likes to play safe.

Supposedly, babalik ako sa Manila. It's less for work and more for him. I'm from Cebu, and while I live in the city part, it's not comparable sa Makati. Makati is way too big and too busy even at nights na wala nang masyadong tao.

Currently, my job is hybrid setup. We can report at any time and it could be once a month. On the other hand, strict yung pagreport nila sa office. It's strictly thrice a week, and sometimes nag-o-overtime pa. His work is way more stressful than mine.

Even yung titirhan ko, I did not consider kung malapit ba sa office ko. It's either malapit ba sa work niya, or malapit ba sa bahay niya. What am I doing in my life?

Nung tumira ako sa Makati, I was hit with the realization na I technically sacrificed a huge portion of my life just for him. I left my family, my friends, my hometown just for him. Yes, for him, not my job, kasi yung trabaho ko papayag naman na titira ako outside Metro Manila. One time, I was filled with anxiety and begged him to stay with me for the night. He was also stressed, and he was pissed nung pumunta siya sa condo. My friends live in either Bulacan, Marikina, or Bicol. He's the only nearest one...

Another realization is that while I had a massive pay raise, majority of it is not being used for me. It's being used to make him happy. From watch, gaming setup, even clothes and shoes. Ako? The rest ay either highschool pa, or secondhand clothes from my sister. Latest gadgets ko ay secondhand iphone, and a macbook. This is the first time in the 5 years of my career na nakabili ako ng gadget. Pero I'm still on a tight budget, kasi 45% sa salary ko ay siniset aside ko para ipunin ang pang rent downpayment.

I noticed a pattern na lagi kong kinokonsider ang partner ko in my major decisions. Sadly, yung ex-partner ko ay red flag. My boyfriend told me na sana we met earlier para di ko masayang time and money ko. Yes, I don't pay for dates anymore, but I still leave a huge portion of my salary aside para lang mapalapit sa kanya. What difference does it make?

He's not a red flag, but he's completely ignorant with the struggles in the real world. Oo, mahirap lang sila. Pero his mom is a really strong mother. So while he lived in poverty, he is ignorant with majority of the things in the world. He has made a lot of insensitive remarks due to ignorance.

Speaking of insensitive remarks, he told me that my irresponsible financial habits are stopping me from buying clothes and shoes. He blamed my Starbucks routine and grabfood deliveries kaya daw laging broke ako. Bro, what??? With my current salary, I can eat out, buy all my luho, and save at the same time. I sacrificed one of them para pag-ipunan ang downpayment, and you blame it on Starbucks???

There was a house for rent in Marikina that I immediately fell in love with. Oo, wala pang gamit. But the moment I saw the house, I immediately want to live there. I also fell in love with Marikina nung una akong pumunta don. The vibe is really similar sa Cebu, and I don't have to book a plane ride para lang pumunta sa ibang parte ng Manila. I only report to the office once a month, so the distance doesn't really bother me.

They all said mahirap ang commute. My boyfriend, in particular, told me na hindi niya ako mapupuntahan don anytime I want to, and that strictly on weekends lang siya makakabisita. Sa isip ko, what's new? He tried to compromise by saying na if magrerenta ako ng mas malapit sa kanya, he would stay in my condo sa WFH days niya. What???

A lot of my friends advised us na para makaluwag ako, maglive in nalang kami. We're also at that age na, and we both work. So, why not? He has a lot of excuses, like pinapaaral niya pa yung kapatid niya, at di pa kaya ng finances niya. Last time I checked, he doesn't pay for his brother's tuition. The only thing he contributes is his allowance, which is approximately 3k to 5k per month...

Aalis ako sa hometown ko, leave my family and friends, and live in a city that doesn't give me peace... 50% of my salary will go to my needs, and consider rin yung fact na malaki yung gastos pag kakamove in lang. I have to pay for my plane tickets, my rent downpayment, and so many unexpected expenses just to be near with a man who can't stay with me and share the burden. All these sacrifices and the best thing he can contribute was...his presence. He cannot relate to my sacrifices dahil di niya pa naranasan bumukod. Hindi niya maintindihan how scary my life really is, and how big my sacrifices are. I'm living in the city far from my family and friends. I'm paying a huge ass rent for a condo na luma. Marikina was the only place I can say na mafifeel ko pa rin yung nakasanayan ko sa Cebu, and yet he's not willing to compromise on a mere 4-ride hassle.

All of a sudden, nawalan ako ng gana.

SKL first time kong hindi mapagalitan dahil sa kaartehan

In my prior relationships, lagi naccriticize yung kaartehan ko. Dapat daw magbago na ako, ganon. My exes made me feel like I should be thankful na tinolerate nila yung ugali ko because no one else would. One ex in particular even put me in survival mode and told me dapat daw marunong ako tumanggap ng pagtitiis, hindi lang masarap na buhay.

But to my surprise, my boyfriend did his best para icater yung kaartehan ko. He spent lots of time trying to get to know my preferences. Sometimes aasarin niya ako sa pagiging maarte, but I never heard na pinilit niya akong magbago.

I asked him once bakit natotolerate niya yung ugali ko. He just said na pag mahal ng lalake yung babae, gagawa siya ng paraan para lang maging masaya siya.

Shet, ganito pala maging babae sa relasyon? 😭

Marikina to Makati, what would the commute be like?

Hi! I'm from the province and came to Makati for work pero di ko kinaya kasi di ko inexpect ganon pala kabusy ang community. I still work in a company located in Makati pero I'm on a temporary WFH setup.

A lot of my colleagues discouraged me kasi daw malayo, baha, etc.

I've been to Marikina once. Holiday yon, so di masyadong stressful ang commute.

Additional info: hybrid setup ako with twice a month sa office. I am recovering from depression and my therapist's recommendation is bumukod sa pamilya.

I'd really appreciate the inputs from people na taga-Marikina talaga. 🙏

My grandpa abandoned the family dog years ago

So this event happened before I was born. This was a story told by my older sister.

Naalala ko yung kwento niya, na pa-as if dinala daw sa gala yung aso pero in reality niligaw daw. My sister was crying habang pinapanood niya na hinahabol ng aso yung sasakyan nila.

I've heard many stories about my grandfather, how he was a "good man." "Mayaman" kuno kasi daming mga pamangkin ang napagtapos ng pag aaral. Oo mayaman daw, pero at the same time di man lang iniwanan ng kaunting pera yung lola ko nung namatay siya. I was too young that time, but I realized depressed si lola until her death. She managed to buy those nung nagwork na daw siya. Mayaman? Di naiwanan ng pera ang asawa, di binigyan ng needs yung mga anak, at most of all, di afford makapon ang aso and chose to abandon her instead kasi umay na daw sila na lagi daw nabubuntis. I don't want to speak ill of the dead, but my grandfather was fucking egoistic and traumatized his family, abandoned his pet, and prioritized creating a grand image for himself. I am forever ashamed that I am related to an irresponsible pet owner.

My father, bless his heart, has been kind to all animals. Mahirap lang papa ko, and he came from Mindanao. Nung yumaman siya, he never forgot to spend money for charities and donations, including for stray animals. Kada may murang pakapon, dinadala niya lahat ng mga inampon niya, and he would even volunteer or donate para sa mga nonprofit organizations for stray animals. I even saw him buying cat foods for that one cat na nagsstay sa isang mall na malayo sa amin.

Ang ironic lang kasi nung bata pa ako, my maternal relatives brainwashed me into hating my dad. Dahil sa kanila ako nakatira, I was easily influenced and really did hate my dad.

Time is the truth teller talaga. My dad never had to lift a finger para madiscover namin ng kapatid ko kung gaano ka-bulok ng ugali ng mga relatives namin sa mother's side. They had spent decades trying to ruin my father's reputation, but he thrived because he focused on being kind.

Are there any 24/7 hr Starbucks in Makati, or in Metro Manila in general?

I've been to Makati for a few months and I'm shocked na wala akong nakitang ni-isang Starbucks na open for 24 hours. Or maybe hindi ko pa nalibot talaga yung Makati.

I'm in Cebu and I'm fond of staying in Starbucks at dawn. I'll definitely going to miss meeting the sunrise here. AFAIK, earliest time a Starbucks in Makati can open is 7am.

Based on experience, any coffee shops na di ganon ka-comercialized (like Starbucks) have a very strong coffee, at medyo sensitive ako sa caffeine.

Can I report my ex for showing signs of stalking me?

The reason why I asked is because the kind of stalking he did is not that extreme according to the law.

Just recently, he viewed my profile on ML. He can't stalk me on other social medias because I blocked him everywhere. What's irritating is that walang block feature ang ML once naka unfollow na yung account.

It may not sound like a big deal, pero yung bigla niyang pagpaparamdam after months of no communication triggered some fear inside me. Nung bago pa lang kami naghiwalay, he has repeatedly disrespected my boundaries. Pinupuntahan niya pa rin ako sa condo despite my pleas na wag na akong abalahin, at nakikita ko siya sa lugar near my office under the guise na coincidental yung pagmimeet namin. There are so many, many memories na naaalala ko and I'm so frustrated na di pa rin siya tumitigil.

I don't even have strong evidences sa mga pang-aabuso niya. I wasn't able to control my emotions kaya nababaliktad niya yung narrative na ako yung toxic during his months-long smear campaigns. I can't even take a screenshot or call recordings dahil careful siya on how he forms his statements, and gumagawa siya ng dummy account if he wants to hit a direct attack.

Di ko alam paano magkolekta ng strong evidence since I was really mentally unstable. I am in the middle of my recovery na until everything crashed down when I saw his profile on my recent views sa ML. Though I blocked him everywhere and never shared anything recent na in all my socmeds, napaparanoid pa rin ako.

The strongest evidence I probably have is the unsolicited nudes he sent sa messenger years ago.

Charged my MacBook Neo up to 80% before shutting it down. When I opened it, the battery was at 83%.

One of the reasons I bought this model is that it's within my budget, it's lightweight, and battery lasts longer than the windows laptops I used over the last years.

Battery life is the most important feature for me, since I love going to relaxing places and do my writing. I didn't want the hassle of limiting my choices by choosing a place with an outlet, and gladly, MacBook just gets what I need.

So, that's why I'm very careful in prolonging my MacBook's battery life. I read that Apple recommends charging the device only up to 80%, which I did last night.

Today, I opened it again and I saw the battery percentage was at 83%. I'm curious, why did this happen? Is it possible that I did charge it up to 83% and the percentage label was just delayed?
