How strict are cinemas with checking IDs?

Me and my brother really want to go see the new Spider-Man film tomorrow I’m old enough to see the movie but not 18 yet so technically I’m not old enough to bring him in as an under 12. he’s 11 tho his birthday is soon (next month) and I’d say he looks 12 (he's pretty tall for his age) Do you think we'd get away with it?

What 12 year old had ID that they carry round with them anyway?

This might be a stupid question but what actually is the difference between a mobility scooter and a power chair

Other than the obvious that one is a scooter and one is a chair but other than that

I'm currently in the process of figuring out weather a scooter or power chair is the best bet for me but I just feel like a scooter is a more clunky less comfortable version of a powechair

Am I missing something or am I just stupid 😅

My review of p&Os iona as first time cruisers.

So we have just got off a week-long cruise with P&O's Iona to the Norwegian Fjords and thought I'd write out my thoughts on our holiday.

Can only be described as organised chaos! 😭 We booked assisted boarding due to a physical medical condition, so can't really comment on queue lengths, etc. We found the staff at assisted boarding were very helpful though, and it didn't look like you would be waiting in the main line for ages and ages. Where you had to go and all the different lines were very clearly signposted also.

FOOD

We overall thought the food was a bit hit and miss and mostly on the nicer half of average. We had some truly delicious meals and one meal in the main dining room that was truly inedible. (I will go into more details on food in the different categories of venues.)

Buffet

We both thought the buffet was pretty good. It was massive, with two different sections. When we went, the buffet was always well stocked with a variety of different dishes, with a kids' corner, a vegetarian section, a salad bar, etc.

The food we found was always hot, and there were plenty of seating areas in the buffet. The food was fairly average buffet food - perfectly fine, but nothing exceptional.

Quays

This was genuinely some of the nicest food we had on the ship, and definitely the freshest food we had.

We had fish and chips there one evening, and the fish was clearly freshly cooked and delicious, as was the katsu chicken curry served sometimes, and the pancakes in the morning.

Olive Grove

We went to the Olive Grove for dinner one night. One in our party ordered the mushroom ravioli, which was really delicious and probably the nicest thing she had on board.

My pizza, on the other hand, was very average. Maybe that's just me - I'm a bit of a pizza fanatic and have a pizza oven in my back garden, and we cook fresh pizzas most Saturdays, so my pizza standards are very high! 😂

Main Dining Room

We thought the food in the main dining room was, again, pretty hit and miss.

Most of the food was on the higher end of average. However, some things we really enjoyed. I had a king prawn curry one night that I found to be delicious, and my travel partner had a salad one night that she said was incredible.

We did have one starter one night, unfortunately, that was just truly inedible. It was crispy chickpeas, where the chickpeas had obviously been sitting out and had dried up so much that they were like small pebbles.

The waiter, though, was very apologetic and allowed us to order a different starter, so all good.

Speciality Restaurants

We didn't try any speciality restaurants, so therefore can't really comment on them.

Some people we were talking to on the final evening, though, said that the speciality restaurants they tried were very similar to the free food found in the MDR, just plated up more fancily.

SERVICE

Main Dining Room

We thought the main dining room service was overall very good.

The waiters were polite and knowledgeable about the dishes, and the food on most nights was pretty quick.

We did eat at less busy times though, so that's something to keep in mind.

Bar service/table service in the evenings

We found the bar service in the evenings to be spectacular.

Within five minutes of sitting down, someone would come over and ask if we wanted any drinks, and within 10 minutes of ordering they would always arrive.

There was also always someone wandering around the seating areas looking out for people who wanted to order drinks.

On the other hand, if we sat down and said that we didn't want a drink, they never bothered us again unless you made it obvious that you had changed your mind and now wanted to order something.

Entertainment

Every day we got the Horizon newsletter that highlighted everything there was onboard that day.

Shows

We went to all three of the main shows (Festival, Digital and Sky's the Limit) and thought they were all very good.

They all had lots of dancing and lots and lots of singing, and we found them really fun.

The actors were fabulous, and the sets and costumes were also very impressive, with lots of costume changes and some really quite advanced set pieces (coming from someone that knows a fair amount about set design and theatre tech!).

We also thought that most of the other guest speakers onboard were very good as well. There were a couple we went to that weren't especially our cup of tea,but everyone else in the venue seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves, so I think that really is just a matter of taste

Cinema We went to see a few movies in the cinema. We thought there was a fairly good mix of different movies. There was usually one family-friendly movie on a port day and two family-friendly movies on sea days. Then there was usually one 12 or 15-rated movie, two 18-rated movies, and sometimes a documentary. The cinema seats were comfy, and the cinema itself was pretty large. The only thing I would say, though, is that they needed to be more strict on people getting to the cinema on time. On both movies we watched, there were seven or eight different groups who came in anywhere from three minutes late to an hour late, disturbing everyone by walking up and down the aisle trying to find a seat, and more often than not then leaving five minutes later after realising the movie had started half an hour ago and they had no idea what was going on. I found this very annoying, especially when you're just trying to settle down and enjoy a movie.

Quizzes/Bingo, etc. We didn't do any of these, so can't really comment, but we saw a fair amount of them going on throughout the day.

Crafts We are both very crafty people, and we did do a couple of the crafts onboard, but we were both fairly disappointed by the crafts on offer, to be honest. The two ladies who were running the craft sessions were both excellent and really lovely, so nothing against the staff at all, but we thought the crafts were really quite expensive for what they were and very much geared towards younger children, which is fine, but again just not really our thing.

THE SHIP I must say that I don't know all that much about ship architecture! 😂 We found the ship to be well designed and clean, which is really all we care about. Getting around the ship The ship is very big, and we did inevitably get lost on several occasions, but after a day or two we got used to where all the main things were - restaurants, the atrium, the Club House, etc. There were maps in all the different lift lobbies, and we soon got used to getting around.

Lifts This was genuinely one of the biggest downsides to our holiday, I found. The lifts were tiny, and one always seemed to be out of order. Due to medical reasons I'm fairly reliant on lifts and was sometimes waiting forever to get in one, and when I did I was usually crammed in with at least a dozen other people. The lifts also stopped at every single floor to try and pick up more people who had called the lift, even when it was clearly jammed to bursting point. I was talking to a lady in a mobility scooter towards the end of the cruise who said that she was sometimes waiting upwards of 15 minutes for a lift she could squeeze into on her scooter, which is really just ridiculous.

Nowhere quiet This was also another big downside of our cruise. Other than the deck (not great when it's lashing with rain) or your cabin (again not great all the time, especially mid-afternoon), there was nowhere truly quiet. I get really tired and really overstimulated very quickly, so the fact that there was nowhere on the ship that was just a dedicated quiet area really annoyed me by the end. Every single place (even the lifts) had this really irritating canned music over the speakers, and while I do get it's to create a kind of ambience, I really wish there was one bar or one place to sit that was just quiet. There was a library, but that was also part of a bar and went into evening mode at 5pm, which is really quite early, so if you wanted somewhere quiet to sit in the evening, your cabin really was the only option.

CABIN In the end we just went with an inside cabin, as a window or balcony cabin was almost double the price, and we thought with it being our first cruise we'd just get an inside. We thought our cabin was fine for two people. It was small, but it didn't feel cramped, and we thought it was very well designed. It served its purpose, which was somewhere to sleep. The beds were firm and we thought very comfortable, but of course that's a matter of opinion.

POOLS We went swimming twice. Both times the pools were busy, but not so busy that it was impossible to move. Infinity Pool We found this pool to be very nice. It was heated and at an okay temperature. It wasn't warm, but it wasn't freezing either. Skydome Pool This one we found was very cold. I got in for 10 minutes and then had to get out again because it was just freezing.

Hot tubs I can't go in hot tubs due to medical reasons, so can't really comment on them. They always seemed very busy though, and I think you would struggle to get in one.

Loungers There were plenty of sun loungers and chairs on deck. We never struggled to find one. Disembarking Disembarking was fine. We opted to leave our cases outside the night before and were told to meet at the Club House at 9:00am, and we would be taken through

disembarkation and led to our cases. There was an announcement over the speakers saying they were running ahead of schedule, so we were actually able to disembark about an hour before our allocated slot. We just had to queue in the main atrium, scan out, go down to collect our cases, and then we were free to go. It was very easy. We had to be out of our cabins by 8am, and they did enforce this very strictly, with staff coming and knocking on doors at around 8:50am making sure everyone was ready to leave.

Overall So yeah, those were my thoughts on our cruise. Overall we had a great time. There were some definite highs and lows, but for just 350ppp we had a lovely holiday

Anyway, yes, those were my thoughts, and I hope this kind of post is allowed here. If not, feel free to remove it. 🙂

I also get that this is really long—sorry about that! 😅 I just like to get all my thoughts out of my head after going on holiday, and I thought I might as well post them here, where they might be of use to someone.

Thank you, good night!

(Edited because I forgot to format the final bits so it was one long block of text and difficult to read (:)

What if being able to speak to type 3 ghosts isn’t actually that rare? It’s just that type 3 ghosts are soo rare hardly anyone. Figures out that they can?

What if any powerful listener can talk to type three ghosts? It’s just that he ghosts are soo rare hardly anyone realises it..

Were told many times how rare type 3s are so rare that after Marissa ‘died’ many people didn’t even think type 3s existed anymore…

AITAH for damaging someone’s car loading mobility equipment when I was blocked in

I (disabled, use mobility scooter and hoist to load it into my car) was at Legoland Windsor recently using a valid disabled parking bay with extra hatch space for access.
When I returned to my car, someone had parked very close to my vehicle in the yellow hatched access area, blocking the space I needed to safely use my hoist and load my mobility scooter.
I have a medical condition and was in the middle of a flare-up, so I was already in significant pain and needed to leave. I went to speak to parking staff and explained the situation and asked if they could contact the driver or help me find a safe way to load my equipment.
The staff member basically said they couldn’t help and told me I would have to wait for the driver, but the car park was extremely busy and there was no realistic alternative safe space to load without blocking the main exit road, which would have been dangerous.
After trying to find a solution and feeling stuck, I ended up carefully loading my equipment anyway. In the process, the other car was damaged (scratches/dents). I didn’t intend to damage it, but the space was so tight that I couldn’t physically manoeuvre my hoist without it happening.
I then drove home.

What does early evening mean?

I'm trying to book on port activitys (the cruise line excursions are expensive and not really to our taste) but our cruise line still hasn't published the exact arrival and leaving times in port it just sais "early evening"

What time frame is early evening?

Would an excursion that got back to port at about 3:15 be too risky for an early evening departure??

What do you think?

Questions as people who are looking at queen Anne only for the itinerary

We are looking at a queen Anne cruise purely for the itinerary and the itinerary alone and have a few questions.

How strict is the dress code and do you HAVE to do gala nights?

Neither me nor my companion are at all in to dressing up. On the evenings for 2 ladies would just a casual summer dress be acceptable? And would trousers with a nice blouse be acceptable. Or does it mean full on long fitted dresses? I really don't want to have to spend a small fortune on fancy outfits which we will most probably wear for the duration of our cruise and never again... It's also impossible for me to find any of that stuff that fits and actually looks good on me....

As for the gala nights are they optional or mandatory? Will you still be allowed in some reastraunts wearing just normal smart attire or not?

As for entertainment what sort of entertainment is there on board I understand that this is very much geared towards older people so am wandering if there is enough to do for 2 fairly young adults.

We really want to do this cruise as it is the only ship within our price range that does this specific itinerary but are slightly worried mainly about dress codes...

Thanks in advance!

Edit: for people that are wandering what I mean by casual dress I mean something like this

Kinda need help with personal hygiene

So I’m 16f and I have a real problem with hygiene.
I dont shower regularly at all (like twice a month probably)
And I don’t use deodorant either.
I hardly ever brush my teeth and hardly ever brush my hair. Some days I feel really self conscious about it but evidently not self conscious enough to do anything about it.

Other days I really couldn’t care less

All in all I’m pretty sure I’ve got depression. Because I really struggle to go to school and hardly ever leave my room/go out with freinds

I’m starting college in September and I’m determined (or have been for the last 2 days we will see how long it lasts) to make college a fresh start and get a handle on myself so the new people at college don’t immediately think I’m disgusting.

But I just don’t know how….

Do you think we'll see any more of enids family

What do you think?

It might be interesting to see what they all think about the whole alpha situation...

And Wednesday it's always been kinda funny to me thinking about how enids parents would react to their bubbly rainbow obsessed girls bestie 😅

So obviously the only person that Wednesday fully trusts is herself but after herself who would it be?
