I’m trying to stop buying shirts that look fine for a month and then start feeling cheap. The problem is I don’t really know what I’m supposed to inspect before buying. Fabric label helps, but not enough. I’ve had cotton shirts that felt flimsy and blends that held up better than expected.

Do you look at stitching? Collar construction? Buttons? How it hangs after washing? Whether the fabric twists? I can spot obvious bad stuff, but the middle tier is confusing. A shirt can look decent online and still feel kind of disposable once it’s in regular rotation.

If you were buying fewer shirts but trying to buy better, what would you actually check first?
