Role: Duelist | Health: 250 | Difficulty: ★★

Playstyle: For those not familiar with her character Amaranth is Wanda's apprentice. The way her magic works in comics is that she erases the spells of other magic users and stares at people to drive them into insanity. This sounded simple enough to incorporate into the game as a hit-and-run flanker that counters strong sustain, because God knows we need another hero like that besides Blade.

▪︎ Melee — Perfect Counter.

Amaranth slashes with a short burst of magic. Like Hawkeye she can time this to negate some ranged attacks.

▪︎ Primary Fire — Abjuration spell. (9 Ammo, refills quickly overtime.)

Amaranth has pink magic orbs that orbit around her. Holding the attack button fires them as missiles. Each hit applies 5% anti-heal that stacks then decays and deals 65 dmg each.

▪︎ Ability 1 — Abjuration barrier. (18s CD)

Amaranth fortifies a barrier around herself or a targeted ally. After a short delay, it explodes dealing 75 dmg and applies 50% anti-heal for 6 seconds to enemies within 10m radius of whichever target.

▪︎ Movement — Propulsion.

Amaranth uses magic to launch herself in and out of fights, similar to early MCU Wanda. It works like a directional leap (similar to Hulk’s jump) and uses a regenerating meter instead of a cooldown.

▪︎ Ultimate — Abjuration Ring. (3800 Cost)

Amaranth creates a 13m radius of violet fire around herself lasting 9 seconds. Allies engulfed gain 60% damage reduction, while enemies engulfed take 30% increased vulnerability. The vulnerability effect ends immediately if they leave the area.

Role: Vanguard | Health: 700 | Difficulty: ★★★★

Playstyle: Thanos grows stronger the longer he's alive. You're supposed to focus him before he collects more stones.

▪︎ Passive — Infinity Gauntlet.

Thanos begins each life with 1 random Infinity Stone. Every 30 seconds, another random uncollected Stone manifests within the Infinity Gauntlet, buffing parts of his kit. After he dies then every Stone is lost and the cycle begins again.

▪︎ Primary Fire — Power Punch.

Thanos' punches deal splash damage. If he has gained the Power Stone he deals 20% more damage.

▪︎ Secondary Fire — Genesis Blast. (5 ammo.)

Thanos fires blasts of concentrated energy. If he has gained the Time Stone then enemies are slowed for 2 seconds. Whereas flying enemies get knocked down.

Movement — Inevitable Pursuit. (1 charge, 10s CD.)

Like Black Cat he can blink in/out of view with I-Frames for 1s. However, thats only with the Space Stone, until he gains that this is just a standard dash.

▪︎ Ability 1 — Titan's Guard.

Thanos raises the Infinity Gauntlet to block by reducing frontal damage. If he has gained the Mind Stone he becomes immune to CC while guarding.

▪︎ Ability 2 — Time Reversal. (15s CD.)

Thanos restores his health to what it was 2 seconds ago. But this is locked until he gains the Time Stone.

▪︎ Ability 3 — Reality Collapse (13s CD.)

This is only unlocked by gaining the Reality Stone. Thanos puts an AoE zone in a targeted area so that enemies gain a red fake overhealth which deals burst dmg to them when it expires.

▪︎ Ultimate — Perfect Balance. (4300 Cost.)

Finally, he snaps his fingers to halve enemies in his straight line of sight by 50% of their max health. If he has gained the Soul Stone then enemies who were already below 50% of their max health when he snapped are just instantly eliminated instead.

They should have slutted him out and giving him a loincloth, some armored boots and a battleworn trenchcoat with shoulderpads. Maybe a staff or a sceptre as his weapon and a helmet like Dr Fate or something. Please grow out that chopped cut into a beautiful mane or ponytail.

Please don't tell me he's gonna be her new love interest. I know I'm not the biggest Wanda x Vision shipper but at least Vision has aura.

Putting loads of unnecessary lines and layers on a suit doesn't make you a good character designer, can they stop doing this already

Just bring her back as a hero already. They genuinely don't know wtf they're doing with her character.

She started out as a villain, helping Ultron and indirectly contributing to the deaths of countless people in Sokovia. She also sent Hulk on a rampage, and I don't even remember her ever apologizing to Bruce for that. Then she became a hero. After that, she accidentally killed a group of civilians in Nigeria, seemed remorseful, and ended up becoming a fugitive against accords that were all entirely her fault.

Then she enslaved a town and pretended to feel guilty after that just to go on a rampage across universes, now you're telling me she pretended to feel guilty again by faking her suicide?????

I thought they were going to redeem her during Secret Wars. Wdym she's going to become a main villain after that??? So is she still a psycho in Secret Wars?

Wtf is going on?? Wanda has no reason to want to genocide mutants here. Magneto is not her father so therefore she doesn't have any traumatic experiences from the product of his environment...

She's just gonna do this for shits and giggles

I don't even understand why his pickrate is so high??? I've never met a good Jeff he is always a sign of elo loss. They stay in the back healbotting in a straight line at nothing instead of moving around for advantages.

Then when they ult they swallow you while your ult goes off or they cost you the point.

I don't want to go on a typical rant so let's just talk about Wanda in a civil manner.

As we all know: aside from her secondary and ultimate ability, there isn't anything else her kit has that feels recognizable.

I understand the intention was to create a beginner-friendly hero. What I don't understand is why that came at the expense of her identity.

A big part of Wanda's appeal is that she is a witch. Many of us were excited at the idea of finally getting to play this hero type in a PvP Marvel game, which we haven't really gotten yet. The only other games Wanda is treated with respect are PvE based.

I've heard some arguments claiming Strange was also mishandled despite him supposed to have so many spells but I find this to be false, when we take a deeper look at him, Strange still has:

1. His Cloak of Levitation.
2. His Shield of the Seraphim/Tao Mandalas.
3. His Eye of Agamotto.
4. His Pentagram of Farralah/Sling Ring.
5. His Bolts of Bedevilment.

This is already more variety of spells he has over Wanda plus his iconic Bands of Cyttorak when he and Magik team-up.

She really cannot be compared with other characters either.

When you play Loki, it feels like you're him i.e; creating clones, casting Asgardian runes, dealing bonus backstab damage, and using illusions.

When you play Hulk, it feels like you're him i.e; getting stronger the angrier you get, knocking enemies back, and using his clap and iconic Hulk Smash, he has his massive jump he's known for.

When you play Captain America, it feels like you're him i.e; throwing the shield, deflecting attacks, running fast to get in the enemies faces, taking the lead to pave a path with your Ultimate.

When you play Cyclops, it feels like you're him i.e; Firing optic blasts that bounce, reflect, propel you, and knock enemies back.

These examples apply to Gambit who has all sorts of cards from damage boosting to cleansing to healing to jump boosting to movement speed boosting to ult acceleration. Then he has his agility with his staff.

Same goes for Rogue, Spider-Man, Invisible Woman and 99% of the roster except for Ultron, Torch, Widow, Iron-Man and of course Wanda herself. But this isn't the sub to digress about those other characters.

The point being most characters are all able to display stuff they're well known for because the devs did amazing jobs with so many heroes on the roster. Sadly, Wanda is with the few that for the most part lack this.

Let me put this into perspective:

The only thing Wanda has in her kit she's known for are her secondary and her Ultimate. Wanda is a hero that notably debuffs enemies whether it be by making attacks backfire, or turning luck against enemies. These are what her Hexes do.

I don't think being a one-star hero should mean sacrificing character fantasy since accessibility and authenticity aren't really mutually exclusive. Graves is a very easy hero to pick up on in Deadlock.

Frankly I thought they would take some inspiration from the many sorceresses in Paladins. But they were too committed trying to compete with Overwatch to the point they directly copied off Moira to paste her as a DPS focused hero in this game. Which doesn’t really make much sense if you look at it, because Sombra would've been a better fit she has the easy accessibility for new players and her 'Hack' would have perfectly translated into Wanda's 'Hex' by casting it on enemies or health packs to do damage and steal ult generation but I digress...

Anyways thinking about all the possibilities they could have take her direction kind of led me down to create a version for how she could have turned out if given more time to release.

The core idea is replacing her current primary attack with Hex Bolts and introducing Probability Hexes as the center of her kit.

I don't see why this is really an issue since her Chtonian Bursts are the only part of her kit everyone likes as it's very true to her character.

However a complaint is that it aliemates people that love her Chaos Control. So in my version Wanda would put a 'Probability Hex' on enemies. When they have this on them her Hex Bolts start homing at them.

Her playstyle would be more focused on exploiting enemies weaknesses. Keep her easy while giving her a mechanic that feels tied to her specifically.

Anyways here is my full idea:

Scarlet Witch

Role: Duelist | HP: 250 | Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆

▪︎ Primary Fire — Hex Bolts (15 ammo.)

• Her secondary becomes the primary, keeping it's splash damage. But I decided to incorporate her team-up with Dr Strange so rather than single shots I decided she sends 5 bolts all at the same time dealing a flat 85 dmg.
• If the target is affected by a Probability Hex the bolts home after them until the hex expires.
• The homing has no range past her standard 20m.

▪︎ Secondary — Probability Hex.

• Now, as for keeping her old tracking, Wanda can place a Hex on enemies like Zenyatta from OW.
• This is indicated by Hex Rings surrounding them.
• Each Hex lasts 5 seconds.
• Applying the same Hex again refreshes its duration back to 5 seconds, but it can't exceed that.
• This is stackable to increase the damage they take by 8%. Exactly like Kasumi from Paladins.
• Hitting one target will strip other enemies of their hexes to increase the damage applied to the new target by another 2%.

▪︎ Ability — Dark Seal.

• Leaving the seal after getting hit now also grants an effect which decreases the damage enemies deal by 16% for the remainder of the ability duration.

▪︎ Movement — Chaos Flight.

• Functions the same but she doesn't turn invisible/into a ball when she fades and instead just flies normally. Since she is now visible she gets her old movement speed and duration back.

▪︎ Ultimate — Reality Collapse.

• The pull is buffed from 2.4–3 m/s to 7 m/s. Her movement speed is buffed from 4.5 m/s to 5.5 m/s

At a broader level, the main thing I’m trying to get at is just that she doesn’t fully land in the way the rest of the roster tend to immediately communicate their identity. I've seen some rework ideas giving her a full MOBA kit or turning her into a more difficult character which isn't how to get the character reworked because that neuters her whole casual playerbase. We should offering ideas on how to get the best of both worlds.

As excited as I am for Amora, Madelyne, Selene, Wiccan, Agatha and Amaranth to join the game. We should never have had to wait years for these other characters to join the game to feel like a spellcaster when Wanda is Marvels most popular female magic user.
