Newest Version of RE4R VR Mod Is Out

https://re4vr.com/

I've played up to the combat encounter just after you meet the merchant for the first time.

I was having really bad visual artifacting at first, including very noticeable pixellation across most objects and surfaces. My rig has an i9-13900k, 5090FE, and 32gb of ram. Game is otherwise vanilla except for a Claire replacer for Ashley. Not sure why my tinkering fixed my issues but here's what I did:

Disabled the included upscaler to get rid of motion blurring on moving objects

Went into the ingame graphics options and maxed out resolution

Turned interlaced mode on, increased in game render resoluton to 150%

Turned interlaced mode back off, turned render resolution back to 120%

Now texture quality is excellent without the hideous pixellation artifacts everywhere. There's some jank with holsters (wish handgun was near my thigh so I didnt accidentally grab grenades occasionally), but the mod is otherwise such a massive improvement over the first version. Massive kudos to Talemann, especially for fixing the broken map!

We made a place to talk about all the new VR modding & PCVR, because Discord isn't cutting it. r/PCVR is now reopened!

Hi all, Lunch & VR Dad here. r/PCVR is now reopened!

We wanted a central place where people could talk about everything related to PCVR and VR modding online, and discord is a closed garden a lot of people don't like. It's still the best place to get the latest VR mods and where modders live, but we wanted this information to be public and searchable online for modders & everyone.

Which is why we are reopening r/PCVR to the public, so that the general VR subs like r/virtualreality won't be bombarded too much by mods and AI mods!

We just revealed the next-gen direction we're taking COVR, our tactical VR milsim

Hey sub, we finally revealed what we've been cooking with COVR, our tactical VR milsim. It's a pretty damn ambitious leap from where the game started, especially for an indie team. We're calling this our next-gen direction because that's genuinely what we're aiming for - a tactical shooter that pushes visuals, immersion, gunplay and interaction forward while still running natively on Quest.
https://www.meta.com/experiences/covr/26564910626481959/

I know that's a big promise, especially on standalone hardware, so rather than just talking about it endlessly, we want to develop it alongside the community. We'll be kicking off playtests and sharing a lot more behind-the-scenes development stuff as well as native Quest footage soon.

The store page linked above is now live too, so if COVR looks like your kind of thing, a wishlist would help us out massively.

Would also genuinely love to hear what you guys think of the new direction!

After years of work, my atmospheric VR survival shooter set in a mysterious Anomaly Zone finally has a full release date!

Hey everyone! It's Nik, the solo developer behind CONVRGENCE - an atmospheric single-player VR extraction shooter I've been working on for the past few years.

After more than two years in Early Access, countless updates, and a lot of hard work, I'm finally getting ready to bring the game to Version 1.0!

The full release will introduce a full-fledged story, tying together the events of the game and finally allowing you to reach the very heart of the Chernokamensk Anomaly Zone and see the story through to its conclusion.

The existing quests will be significantly reworked - making them more varied and engaging - along with many other improvements across the game.

Thanks to everyone here who has followed the project, played the game, or shared feedback over the years. See you in the Zone on September 17th!

i'm working on a chill ship-to-shore crane sim because it's my dream job but I live 500 miles away from the nearest port

I know there are a thousand "job simulator" VR games but I haven't seen one yet where you operate a massive commercial port crane.

It's niche. It's not everybody's cup of tea.

But I'm literally making this game just to fulfill my introverted "conduct methodical work in heavy machinery while listening to chill music and not having to talk to anybody" fantasy. And it totally scratches the itch.

I built a searchable catalog of 1,000+ VR mods for flat PC games, you can also check your Steam library to see which games you already own can be played in VR

I've been working on this for a while and finally got it launched.

It's called PCVR Centralhttps://pcvrcentral.com/

The main idea is to have one searchable place for VR mods that let you play flatscreen PC games in VR. Right now the site has 1,000+ VR mods covering a pretty huge number of games.

You can search/filter the catalog and see things like the type of VR implementation, motion controls/6DOF support, links to the actual mod, install guides where available, and other useful info.

One of the tools I wanted most was the Steam library checker. You can connect or paste your Steam link and it'll show you which games you already own can be played in VR, either natively or through a mod.

The site's brand new, so I'm sure there are mods missing or bits of information that could be improved. There's a submission system on the site as well, so if you know of something that's missing you can send it in.

I'm planning to keep expanding the database and adding more useful PCVR tools/features over time.

Would love any feedback. If there's missing features you'd like to see, let me know.

New Cyberpunk 2077 VR Mod runs like a native VR game now!

There is a new VR mod for the Cyberpunk 2077 and it's amazing, making Cyberpunk feel like a native VR game now. Good visuals, smooth performance and full motion controls with physical melee combat and guns that just work with all attachments and scopes, full body and holsters, all game menus working in VR properly now.

This is day and night difference from the previous Cyberpunk VR mod by the Luke Ross, which has been banned by the CD Project Red not that long ago.

So if you tried the VR old mod and did not like visuals or lack of motion controls or just did not have good performance, the new Cyberpunk VR port ( https://github.com/dariulone/cyberpunk-vr-port ) is definitely worth the shot.

I was able to run the old mod at 2.5k per eye with DLSS and lots of artifacts.
New mod runs 3k per eye native resolution, way better visuals and smooth performance.
I'm running 7800x3d / 32GB / 9070XT / Pimax Dream Air
And this is just from a quick setup playing with the mod for a couple of days before the release. As it's the first Alpha, even more VR features and VR interactions are basically added to the mod everyday.

Save 10% on D.R.A.F.T. VR on Steam

This looks interesting. Maybe an option for SLAM headsets to have full body tracking without tracking pucks.

Some thoughts after trying MRGO

First of all, I think MRGO is a great idea. I hope the dev can continue to improve it.

Camera installation:
I’m currently using Pimax Crystal og and I just stick a small web camera (1080p, 2.1mm 125 fov) in front of the face plate with velcro tape. I think the main difficulty is sourcing a very small webcam to attach easily on the headset. I have the benefit of living very close to mainland China so it is not an issue for me but I can see why it seems to be a bit of a problem for others.

Actual usage:

  1. Once installed from steam, it works almost out of the box, almost, with some caveat: if your web camera is not the first camera device, and your pimax camera is, the software will try to access the pimax camera on starting up and breaks the inside out tracking. After some time of diagnosing the issue, I resort to change cameraIndex in the config.txt to stop it from accessing pimax camera when starting up. It is just a bandage fix for me, I hope the dev can improve it at least let the user choose the camera before accessing it.

  2. Pass through works out of the box once I have resolved the camera issue. You have auto hand detection that works surprisingly well. There’s one spot in my room that it sometimes think it’s my hand, but all things considered, it’s accurate enough for normal operations.

  3. The overlay mode is useful when you need to set things up and you can assign a button to toggle it. If you are next to a wall, please remember to turn off that auto toggle on occlusion or else you will see the overlay every time when u turn your head to the wall side…

My suggestion:

  1. Is it possible to make the overlay / perk mode semi transparent so that I can see what I am pressing and also what is shown in the game? It is particularly useful if you are flying something that is not 1:1 to your rig.

  2. In the hand detection log, I see that it first try to use gpu to process, but it said GPU processing is disabled in build flags and fall back to use CPU. Is it by design or just some oversight?

All in all, I think this product has a great potential to any headset that does not have good vr pass through.
