Is there a chart showing what stations replace what?

We have obvious things like an advanced textile bench replacing the textile bench.

But then we have the anvil and the forge? Does the forge replace all functions of the anvil?

I'll probably keep both furnaces.

But the fabricator replaces crafting and machining? Or not?

Basically, I'm wanting to weed out what I don't need.

Keeping research records and writing long-term research in the cloud during this era of degoogling? What is the best alternative to Google docs?

I don't want my research hoovered up by AI, but I do need the insta-save access anywhere functionality of cloud computing.

So my question to you is what application(s) you use for writing and storing research data in 2026? I'm considering Collabora and perhaps Notion, but I wanted to reach out and ask.

Haven't graded assignment. I go to hide grades and 7 are already posted? How is this possible?

Sorry if this has been discussed previously.

I have students in multiple sections over multiple semesters commenting about my comments that are supposedly hidden and asking why they can't see their grade but others can before I release them.

Any insights about what's happening?

1968 in 'Heavy Metal' Music

Hurdy Gurdy Man by Donovan is NOT heavy metal by any stretch of the imagination.

I personally have always considered Helter Skelter a proto-punk song.

But whoever put Donovan here is a bozo.

Today on Bitwarden

Before I can open the app, I see a notification that autofill is a new accessibility feature **that uses Android autofill.** I'm also informed that it's totally optional.

Now comes the best part: I am given two options.

  1. Accept

  2. Log off

So you can totally turn off the 'optional' auto complete, but you must first accept (which turns on the autofill) it so you can then go in and turn it off.

And that's the end of me using Bitwarden. Is it going to be a complete pita to move my passwords AND change them because Bitwarden just forced me to accept Google infiltration in order to access the passwords I need to function? Yes, but I will do it.

Bitwarden can fuck right off.

What free or non-subscription teaching technology are you using?

I teach incoming university students, so my choices are slightly different than if you're teaching children.

Perusall turns reading into a kind of social media event.

Edpuzzle was my go-to for listening, but its free tier is now very limited.

I create branching scenarios in PowerPoint.

I also use Pear Deck with ppt.

I've used mentimeter, but sometimes lose connections or it lags.

Padlet remains a classic.

Kahoot is a classic.

What else are you using?

The Donner Party, sometimes called the Donner–Reed Party, was a group of American pioneers who migrated to California in a wagon train from the Midwest. Delayed by a multitude of mishaps, they spent the winter of 1846–1847 snowbound in the Sierra Nevada. Some of the migrants resorted to cannibalism

Wow. Read the whole thing. I've known about this since I was a kid but never knew the exact details. It's a hundred times worse than I imagined. I've driven on the interstate through that part Utah. Doing that in a wagon...

Request to introduce a policy banning all LLM / Gen AI contributions · tutao/tutanota · Discussion #10759

To clarify, no one has found Tuta using LLMs. This is a push to have them commit to not using LLMs. It's proactive.

Let's see motigons!

I don't think there's been a point in this game where motivation could give command a run for its money.

I'm keen to see what you've come up with.

Stranger Than Paradise (1984)

Willie is a down-on-his-luck New Yorker who receives a call from his aunt informing him that his cousin Eva is coming from Hungary and will stay with him before traveling to Cleveland to live with his aunt. Willie also hangs out with Eddie, played by the former drummer for Sonic Youth. From this starting premise, the film evolves into a road movie.

At 89 minutes, this is a sparse deadpan comedy. Many will hate it. Some will love it.

This movie had a budget of $100,000 and was Jim Jarmusch's debut.
