Tired of the creeps ruining it

I don’t know whether to just get stickers to cover up the camera lenses or just sell the things.

The display is so useful but I’m tired of the shit that people give me for them bc they think it’s just regular meta glasses.

Like I would happily buy these glasses if they didn’t have a camera.

Im calling it though once Apple releases they’re smart glasses next year everyone is going to stop giving af.

Expired passport question

I am planning to travel travel to Nigeria, after a 6 year hiatus.

My passport expired about 3 years ago, I am aware that you can still pass through customs with an expired passport.

However will the airline give me trouble on my way out? I’m thinking of flying with virgin.

We are about 2 years out from the 2028 games, do you still believe that LA can truly pull of a transit first Olympics?

I really hope the North Hollywood Pasadena BRT and the Vermont BRT all get done by then.

I think the Olympics can be an opportunity for only LA, but Metro to shine as well.

I went to the working families party convention! (USA)

It was a really great event and learned a lot more about what WFP does. I liked it because we actually got to discuss and breakout groups specific policy, and everyone was able to voice their opinions and there was a nice discourse and dialogue. Unlike DSA WFP seems a big open to being a big tent party with social democratic economics being at the heart of their messaging.

If any other Americans are looking for a good social democratic political party WFP is great!

Plus I got to meet Brad lander

Does anyone have this? Can this fit two controllers?

Genuine question bc it’s lowkey expensive.

Edit: Yes I am aware that it has one slot dedicated for one controller but I was wondering if you could just cram the controller in somewhere else

The people that use like plastic bag or bubble wrap as a cover for the seat confuse me

Anyone else know what I’m talking about? the people that put a small sheet of bubble wrap down before sitting on the seat. You could make the same argument to do that at a restaurant or chair at your office/work place or a park bench germs aren’t exclusive to metro seats. Like relax they are plastic seats you will be able to visually see if they are wet. I bet metro seats are cleaned a lot more often than other public seating areas.

The homeless/unhoused are an anchor on the success of LA Metro

LET ME PREFACE. This isn’t going to be some right-wing rant about homeless people blaming drugs and personal responsibility rather than the fact that homelessness happens in cities where housing is sky-high.

The main reason I hear people say when I ask why they don’t want to take the metro is safety. Point blank, period. The number of incidents has gone down significantly and is still declining; that’s just a fact, and with tap-to-exit now being rolled out, it’s only going to keep going down further.

However, the large majority of people still perceive the system as unsafe, and that’s because of the large amount of homeless roaming the system aimlessly. I’ve also heard many people that took the metro a couple of times but had a bad experience due to the homeless and stopped taking it.

Just yesterday, I was at Highland Park station, and there was a homeless guy lying on the concrete blocks/benches who had shit himself with feces all over his clothes and the ground, taking a nap.

Just a couple of weeks earlier, I was taking my mother on the system for the first time because she was visiting out of town, and I just couldn’t imagine what she would think if this was the first thing she saw, after I convienced her that it was safe and clean. Or today at Pershing Square station, just a homeless guy lying on the platform all comfy and another homeless guy who was taking a nap above the entrance on this elevated ledge. Transit police were both mere feet away but were too busy playing Candy Crush or whatever to give a shit.

The point I’m trying to make is that LA Metro is for people trying to get from point A to point B; it is a mass transit system, not a place for shelter or to take a nap on the train or do drugs on the train. Homeless people are just like anyone else and should use the metro to get to places. However, they can’t be just aimlessly hanging around.

Sad truth is most people in LA don’t take the metro because it’s convenient or it’s nice saving on gas; they take it because they have no other option. A good transit system shouldn’t be like this.

There need to be faregates at all stations, even the at-grade ones. Install the little turnstiles now, then put up the fences later when there is more wiggle room in the budget. Bring back more fare checks. Having more transit cops can only do so much. I thnk expanding the team of special social workers is also a good approach.

Metro needs to turn the tide and change the perception of the system, and that starts with enforcing fares and making sure people are actually using the trains, stations, and platforms as intended.

Raman question

Raman question

Genuine question, doesn’t Nithya running for mayor seem more like politician opportunism rather than a genuine, authentic will and hope to make the city better by being mayor?

I’m saying this because Bass was very influential in helping Raman get reelected in 2024, and Raman endorsed Bass for reelection before she jumped into the race herself! They were political allies and now are going to face each other in a most likely bruising general campaign.

I’m not a Bass supporter at all. I think that she has not been an effective mayor and, frankly, is probably a good person and was a solid member of Congress but just not a good head executive and mayor.

But it’s hard not to question whether Nithya really just ran bc she was a window to ride the anti-establishment and incumbent wave rather than an authentic urge to run.

I mean, look at Mamdani. He has been campaigning for mayor even BEFORE Trump won in 2024, and he was running a campaign that was practically a statistical impossibility until about April. He didn’t jump in the race last minute or anything. There’s no doubt that he is authentic.

I don’t think there is anything wrong in questioning Raman’s true intentions.

Again she is better than Bass but Im just still confused about this aspect.
