NBA 2k PS5 discord for adults

Hi guys, so I’ve created a discord server to build a bit more of an adults community 18+ so we can get regular games going etc and not have to always play with small kids (no offence) I just find it gets a bit irritating sometimes. Let me know if you want to join 👍

Moving to Irvine from London UK

Hi guys I won’t keep this to long but basically I’m a senior IT engineer from London uk (dad with wife and 3 small kiddies) and have been offered a relocation package job to Irvine California which I have 4 weeks to give a yes or no to.

I don’t know what to do at all on one hand we are fed up of the uk (8 months of cold weather a year, knife crime on the rise, not much to do here and safety for the kids is a thing) BUT we have free healthcare and a benefit system for example if you lose your job you can get paid benefits from the government so your fine. Also if you can’t afford a house we get housing through the council and the areas are quite nice we never really live in bad “ghetto” conditions from what I’ve seen on YouTube as some of the projects in the states. Also we get 30 days holiday a year from work and also sick pay and bank holidays.

I think my main worry is giving this all up and not having that same sort of security in California.

Maybe someone could shed some light on this and how you cope especially with children?

Thanks guys

Kids school summer holidays - routine way out of wack

So every summer holidays when my kids break up from school I always take a few weeks annual leave at this time so me my wife and the kids can hang out go on a little holiday etc. one thing I’ve realised however is my routine is wayyyyy out of wack no matter how much I try to make a little time for myself it’s so hard to get anything I want to do done. My kids are 1,10 and 5. Like for example my gym routine, because I know my wife is stressed out with doing all the mum stuff I feel bad going to the gym so that goes out of the window, having a bit of time to myself to go for a run or something is also hard because the kids will want to go to the park etc. me and my wife hardly get any time to hang out it’s just full on from morning to evening. I like to get up early and out the door for a walk first thing to but summer holidays I go bed so late as I need an hour or two when they’ve gone sleep to have some peace and me time. I’m not complaining as I cherish these times with the kids it just gets so hard and my routine is so out of wack. Any other mums and dads struggle with routine during the school holidays?

Gym time and loneliness

Hi guys so I work from home full time I’m a dad of 3 small kids under 10. I’ve dealt with some loneliness over the years of working from home so I switched my early morning workouts to lunch time at my gym/health club and it’s been a game changer for the last year or so because I have more time to socialise and people aren’t in a rush so we can have a chat etc. The issue I’m having now is I’m waking up to chaos with small kids at home and I’m a lot more lazy in the mornings despite trying to get up before them to go for some morning fresh air before working it just doesn’t feel the same. Also I’m staying up loads later because I’m not tired and also i find when I’m working in the morning I’m not as switched on because I’m itching to go to the gym and train hard. My question is I’m thinking to start going at 06:00am again but I feel like I’ll lose the social aspect and get lonely again so what could I do at lunch time? I have an hour to do something my work is flexible and doesn’t clock watch. I used to go for walks outside but found that really lonely and I don’t have any friends to go on walks with.

Would love to hear what other dads or mums that work from home do?

Feel mentally checked out of my remote call centre job

Like the title says really.. weekly 1 - 1s, constant QA,s, the tiering system, making sure every call u keep up with what the idiot callers are saying, making sure u spell everything out to confirm details. I don’t no what it is I just feel like I’ve mentally checked out of this I’ve done it for a number of years and feel like I’m way better then this. Only thing I like is it’s work from home and moneys good. I’m very grateful for the job honestly cos I know how hard life is for people trying to get a job right now but dam just some days it takes it out of me. Anyone else feel like this?

Thinking of quitting my call centre job with no real backup plan (sort of)

Hi guys, looking for some advice.

I’ve been working a part-time call centre job for the last 2 years and honestly I absolutely hate it. The constant QA checks, 1-to-1s, worrying about making mistakes on calls, trying to avoid dead air, keeping up with fast talkers while taking accurate notes… it’s exhausting. It’s genuinely affected my mental health at times.

The whole reason I took the job was to support myself while learning IT skills so I could eventually move into tech, because I have no real career skills outside of sales and customer service — and I honestly hate both fields.

The problem is the call centre job drains so much of my energy that by the end of the day I barely have the motivation to study. I’ve been stuck in this cycle for 2 years now.

Recently me and my wife sat down and properly worked through our finances. We actually have decent savings and a bit of extra income from a couple of small investments we made over the years, so financially we wouldn’t be struggling badly if I left the job for a while.

So now I’m seriously considering quitting the call centre job (while leaving on good terms just in case) and spending the rest of the year focusing full-time on my IT studies and trying to finally build a better future.

I’m scared because I’ve never been out of work before, and obviously I have a family to think about. But at the same time I’m so mentally done with call centre work and I feel like if I don’t take a risk now, I’ll stay stuck forever.

What do you guys think? Has anyone else done something similar? Any advice would really help.

Men that work from home do you get this feeling…

Do you ever see friends or other men in general working trades like plumbers, electricians etc and have the urge to do that even though you work from home and don’t have anything to really complain about? I get it constantly lol

Standing desk over rated?

So been using a standing desk to work for 5 days straight standing literally most of the day with the occasional break here and there (I am WFH). I think they are ok but to be honest feel like they just make me tired. I’m very active already (walks before work, get up every 30 mins for a stretch and a walk about, lunch time gym where I do full body weight and sauna, walk after work, play with my kids outside in the evenings) so I average about 11-14k steps a day. It’s been ok but yeah in general just makes me more tired. What are your experiences with it?

Work from home discord

Hi guys, I have created a work from home discord for us guys that are fully remote. Just a place to have chit chat and more interaction as it can be quite isolating. It’s just a nice chill place to hang out.

Edit: THIS IS NOT FOR PEOPLE LOOKING FOR A JOB ITS FOR THOSE WHO ARE ALREADY WORKING REMOTE.
