The King's Speech (2010) was the big winner of the 2011 Academy Awards, taking home 4 Oscars including Best Picture. It is also among the highest grossing Best Picture winners.
Back in 2009, before the CBM movie boom, James Cameron gave us the highest grossing original movie of all time and WB was releasing Harry Potter movies in an almost yearly basis.
Directors: Part II - Box Office and Profit
Here is the ranking of 25 of the most elite and influential Hollywood directors, of the 21st century box office success and profitability based off of their **entire** filmography.
Disclaimer\* These are not necessarily the top 25 Directors. Also, scores are so low because they are based on percentiles of each category, meaning the scores range from 100 to 0.
**Box Office, Budget, and ROI**
Scores are based of Profit based ROI and box office averages per movie, all adjusted for today’s inflation.
ROI is calculated and then put into percentiles. Each Director is then given the percentile score. The same is done for the box office averages.
For a film to qualify it must have a theatrical release. Any films that did not have a **full** theatrical release, other than debut and early films were excluded from the average. Digital releases are also excluded.
In any ties the higher place goes to the director with a higher box office average. Below is the breakdown of each directors average ROI and average box office.
Part III: Oscars will be released later today. The final overview of all categories combined will be released after. The final scores will also include a filmography factor which weights the rankings so that older directors with more movies will be even with younger, newer directors.

Recently put together a top 100 list. I hadn't done it in a long long time. Figured I'd post in here for the hell of it. I haven't seen as many movies as most, but I've seen a solid amount. On my Letterboxd I have 2248 marked, but I've probably seen closer to 3000. I enjoy the more arthouse serious fare and while I will try any genre I generally stick with serious dramas. I just enjoy getting drawn into a vibe or a movie that makes me think mostly.
#70 is the complete Persian Series, I just didn't want add all the 15 parts. Besides maybe like 10-15 movies on here it feels like a typical cinephile top 100 I think.
I do like posting personal lists and looking at them because you can always get introduced to a few movies you haven't heard of before so hopefully at least one person sees this and watches a more obscure movie that is on my list.
