Question for those of you who have retrofit an old payphone for current 4G/5G technology.

I have an old unused free line with MetroPCS laying around, and what I'm trying to facilitate if possible is converting it to a home phone with either a payphone, or ideally one of those old 1950s wall mounted, rotary dial phones with the horn that you take off the hook and hold to your ear.

I'm pretty technology savvy, but this is outside my wheelhouse, & I was hoping somebody here could help me formulate a game plan. So far my research has led me to understand that I will need at least two things:

  1. Fixed Cellular Terminal / GSM Gateway

  2. A pulse-to-tone converter for the rotary dial

Can anyone here elaborate with specific brands/links to exactly what I would need to procure, because it's a little overwhelming.

Thanks!

G Stylus 2026?

Just noticed the G play and the G has been out for some time, wondered if any employees have any insight into a Stylus launch, if it's coming at all?

Edge 2024 Notification bar gone

But it reappears when I pull down the notification shade or go to the lock screen or open any app.

Saw some older posts from other devices having the same issue but no clarification on a fix, thoughts?

▲ 10 r/Tucson

My father retired accross the country to Tucson, I need to find a recommendation of a local (mom & pop or sole proprietor is fine) for a special gift for him.

I've collected all the Christmas cards my parents have sent me for the last 25 years, I want to ship them to someone that can have them framed (I know it's going to be huge, that's why I need it done locally), and deliver it to them.

Nothing too elaborate, it's just the sheer size of the project that's an issue. At the end of the day, it's just a ton of Christmas cards and a gigantic glass frame.

I live in Virginia so I don't know the first thing about what's available there, any locals have a recommendation for such an odd request?

Question about manually exercising options before 5:30 in after hours trading

My brokerage (Fidelity) has a hard 4:00 cut off for exercising options, automatically or manually. I read that E-Trade allows you to manually exercise options until 5:30, and with the volatility of something like the TQQQ, an option that was out of the money at 4:00 could be very much in the money by 5:00.

My question is this, has anyone ever heard of or actually manually exercised an option in a situation like that, I'm just wondering how often it happens because I imagine it has to be pretty rare.

M8 Pro questions

I'm thinking about importing one, but the GSMArena review said it has a lot of ads built into the OS, and I can't seem to find a custom ROM (nor have I had experience with custom firmware since the CyanogenMod days).

What are the options, what do you guys that have one do?

Question about Poco M8 Pro connectivity

In the specifications there's an asterisk next to band 66 that says:

B66/n66 supports 70MHz narrowband frequency

What does that mean in layman's terms? Why is it only relevant to band 66?

A rather niche ETF Option question, but even my brokerage house couldn't give me a straight answer..

So my strategy involves cash-secured puts and covered calls on one of three ETF's any given month (TQQQ, XLU, XLF).

A couple months ago, some of the puts I had sold were out of the money at the 4:00 bell, but we're in the money before the 4:15 closing on the TQQQ.

They were not exercised, but I called Fidelity because it seems like they could have been. Fidelity told me that as far as for their customers the cutoff is 4:00 p.m., but for a different brokerage house they might be allowed to exercise manually later as late as 5:00 or 6:00.

Since they could only elaborate on their policy, does anybody else with a different brokerage have any experience with exercising options after the Bell?

NES cartridge licking instead of blowing to get it to work?

I'm hanging around with half a dozen of my coworkers talking about the original nintendo, and one of them just said instead of blowing on it like we all did as kids, he would lick it, we all think he is insane, has anybody else ever heard of this?

2500X walnut accent out of stock.

I have a 2500x case, I want to buy the Walnut colored accent, but it's been out of stock for what seems like 6 months, are they ever going to restock it? I can't find it from any third party vendor either.

$20 bounty if you can fix my unfixable problem

For years now every device I get I have the same problem, voice to text censored my curse words. Not all the time not across all platforms, just the Google search bar on my homepage.

I've tried everything and asked this question multiple times, it happens across all my devices, regardless of Brand or Android version, nothing has worked.

So since I just factory reset my phone after the Android 16 update, and it's still happening yet again, I thought I would throw 20 bucks in the ring (Cashapp/Venmo only) if anybody can solve my issue.

I won't even bother listing what I've already tried over the years, you guys start recommending, first to fix it gets 20 bucks.

The only thing common across my devices is my use of Nova Launcher, but the search bar widget in question is the Google bar.

This problem does not happen in other applications like reddit, telegram, sms, etc., those allow voice to text to allow me to curse all I fucking want ;)

Moto Edge 2024 A16 update

Finally got it today, Stateside, MetroPCS is my carrier

Question for people with only one carrier option

About 15 years ago I was vacationing in the Adirondacks, and we had Sprint at the time. It didn't work whatsoever, not only did everybody say you had to have Verizon, some people up there didn't even know Sprint was a company haha.

I'm just curious in 2026, does anybody still live somewhere where you only have one option, and I don't mean "The speeds suck on AT&T", I mean like you can't even make a phone call?

Who do you use and where are you located?

Edge 2026, massive disappointment

I see they finally announced it yesterday, I've been waiting on it since I'm still rocking the 2024 Edge.

$600 for a 6.3" display and 128 gigs of storage? Look I know the ram apocalypse is upon us, jacking all the hardware component prices through the roof, but this is insane.

Back to the drawing board I guess, see what I'm going to get next.

RAM question for basic/HTPC build

I'm building a new DDR5 PC from scratch, I plan on running 16GB of RAM, I think that should be the sweet spot, but I want to confirm because with RAM prices being insane, I want to measure twice and cut once.

Going to just be a general everyday home PC for checking emails and keeping tax spreadsheets, pretty mundane stuff (No gaming).

The thing is also going to be using it as a Jellyfin HTPC, And also plan on keeping this thing a long time (7+ years).

With that being said, will I run into any type of bottleneck with this type of usage at 16 gigs? Even far in the future from now?
