I finally have listened to Chromatica and damn what an album

I missed out on this era and I feel bad because this album was solid front to back I can see it becoming a staple quickly it’s that good ,sure it seemed like it got a lot of from what I remember divided reception but I feel like it has the contender for being one of her best albums ,it’s very cohesive and flows well and has some interesting instruments and the interludes add stuff to it ,I do think Mayhem was solid but I think I prefer this album to Mayhem

Is it just me or does anyone actually prefer the 2020s output of mainstream music over the 2010s

Maybe it’s just me because I was checked out of the mainstream misuc for most of this decade until 2024-2025 and then I went back and listened to a lot of albums that came out before then and found that I enjoyed a lot of it ,but one thing I’ve just seen is this decade has had more variety than 2010s imo and more interesting album eras and aesthetics for those albums ,even smaller artists like Clairo are leagues ahead of a lot of the 2010s stuff

I think this decade is one of the best for mainstream music imo contrary to what a lot of YouTube videos and articles and reviewers say but maybe it’s just me digging through and deciding what I like or don’t like ,but there’s a lot more memorable albums from each year this decade than there was in the 2010s

This decade has been a golden age for Midwest emo imo

There’s been so many good albums that have come out these past 6 years it’s unreal ,tons of albums that have become all time favorites for me

Which artist ended up transcending the one hit wonder label and ended up building a rich and Deep catalog in later years

I think the best example is Carly Rae Jepsen ,she’s definitely gotten better as time goes on and it’s hard to consider her a one hit wonder because she releases albums that get critical acclaim she’s ain’t no Taylor swift or big pop star but she has a good niche and has had a lot better career longevity than a lot of one hit wonders

The Agony Scene 2003 self titled album is such a brutal album especially considering the time it came out

I’ve listened to this album recently and it’s definitely a lot heavier than it seemed like it would be it’s very death metal influenced but the album just rips ,the screams and riffs and production is on point and considering it’s 23 years old ,it definitely stands out for the time ,it feels very ahead of it’s time

What was some good MySpace Deathcore bands with female vocalists from in the era of 2006-2010

The only one I can think of is Where Eagles Dare which made a solid record and kind just gotten forgotten it seems like there wasn’t many back then but I do enjoy Lilliths Demise ,the vocalist is insanely talented but that’s not a 2006-2010 era band

Belmont is one of the most consistent bands imo and they get better every album

I feel like this band has done a good job of progressing there sound and Liminal is easily one of there best albums and one of the best albums imo of the 2020s ,it’s gonna be hard for them to this album

Another album that I feel like could be a trainwreckord that doesn’t get talked about is Slipknot :The End So Far

I feel like this album from what I can see has definitely killed a lot of the bands momentum and they are pretty much hyping up a scrapped album from 20 years ago now as the next thing to come instead of doing new and original material ,and personally I don’t think this album is bad,I actually enjoyed it but I can see how this album could be considered a Trainwreckord it doesn’t seem like any follow up to this album is going to renew interest in the band and I get that they are still popular but after the 2022 album they definitely haven’t been the same as before ,that seems like a trainwreckord situation especially for a lot of the rock /metal ones

Is it just me or does anyone feel like the last WCAR album was decent but it just had atrocious production

This album as a whole is solid and it has some great songs and the screams sound good as always ,but the production of the album is so overproduced and weird it makes it a tough listen ,even DarkBloom wasn’t that badly produced but this album fell flat in the way of extreme overproduction that just doesn’t work and some bands the overproduction does work and sounds interesting ,it’s not a bad record ,but it’s definitely hard to sit through it ,because there’s an insane amount of overproduction

What’s the goofiest song you’ve heard recently ?

Definitely for me is Something In Your Mouth by Nickelback as much hate as Nickelback gets they ain’t bad as what they are made out to be but this song is goofy and a strange choice for an album opener also the lyrics are straight up let’s be as edgy as possible but not brutal ,it has also the funniest sounding guitar riff too like the tuning is just funky ,it’s not the worst song ,it feels like a novelty song basically also honorable mention to Moves Like Jagger that song is also just silly and it makes me laugh everytime I hear it

Anyone remember Nature Living

They are an obscure post hardcore /Emo type band from 2006-2007 or so ,I recently rediscovered them and they have a very unique sound it takes influence from different bands at the time ,but I’d describe as a mix of Thursday and Copeland basically with some Emery elements ,definitely a deep cut band for sure

Pretty random but apparently 2008 had a solid indie lineup of deep cuts of albums that seemed to gotten forgotten

It seems like this year for music is underrated in general because it gets associated with recession pop and that whole lineup and Rihanna ,Jay Z and stuff but there was a lot of legitimately solid indie albums in 2008 that got forgotten about ,a lot of this stuff people associate with the early 2010s indie tumblr scene but it predates that and a lot of these albums hold up and have aged well but it seems like the late 2000s indie scene gets glossed over in favor of the scene subculture or the pop music of 2008 -2009 when there was a very diverse lineup of music in that era that produced genuine classics that have been forgotten about

Anyone remember the Irish Front

Been listening to there 2008 album and it’s definitely a lot heavier then I thought it would be it’s super unrelatenting and it’s just a fun album in general and the odd interludes add to the charm they definitely don’t make Deathcore records like this anymore

I've got scammed by fake band (Defrage) in the streets before Iron Maiden concert

Some of you maybe read exact same scenario before or even experienced that by themselves. I hope this will help someone in future.

It was saturday. Bratislava (Slovakia). Iron Maiden is playing show on National Football Stadium in there. Hour before concert I am just wandering the streets and all of a sudden I am stopped by this big bearded dude asking me If I am going to show. We have little chatt and then he starts talking about his band. Which was to me presented as 'Defrage Reload' from Estonia. He started this heartfelt story about how music bussines is hurting artists and because of that that he and his bandmates are forced to hussle with CDs on the street.

So he offered me one of the the CDs that is up to me if I want support them. I was like why not? Done this many times before and few times I find really interesting music by chance, also I love underground music. And I know how hard it is to keep the band alive.

So I paid him 10 euros with Revolut, then chatted little about the style they play (described to me as a Linkin Park with elements of drum and bass). Then we said bye to eachother and that was it.

Later that night Iron Maiden crushed the stage and I went home. When I came home remembered that I bought this CD so I was like lets play it, considering it was late at night I wanted to use headphones and search a band online.

I use reddit mostly for everything so I typed the name here and I was mindblowned.

I found out that this band is group of scammers and they are doing this all over the europe on these big shows. They used to be a real band long time ago but they have been trough so many member changes and nowadays they are just recycling their same old material on new CDs under new band names and new cover arts (for example - Defrage, Illumenium, California Condor). Most of their current art is AI generated and you can find a lot of same situations on Reddit (just type Defrage) even with some aggressive behavior from their side when they were confronted in the streets about it. They are not playing any liveshows since 2017 and almost none of the members who are selling this stuff didnt played on this old recycled music.

This makes me really sad because they are using naivity of metal fans and support of community in general. I was really thrilled to listen to their music but after finding out about their history I dumped CD in the trash. Also this shines really bad light on all other bands with good intentions who are trying to get their music out there with same approach.

Fuck those guys. Be careful

How do you think Sound a Body Makes will age over time ?

I feel like Why Would I Watch has aged excellently and it’s definitely interesting to see how The Sound a Body Makes will age considering it’s nearly a year old already and it seems like one of the lesser albums of the discography and also considering every 2 years they put on a new album it seems like whatever 2027 has , may eclipse Sound a Body Makes When its Still

So Long Astoria is probably one of the best pop punk albums of all time

It’s also the perfect summer album but it’s probably one of the most underrated albums ever ,it’s definitely the bands magnum opus for sure
