already stressed and panicked about leaving cert

i’m starting 6th in september and i’ve seen so many people saying it was the worst year of their life and they came out with horrible mental health and trauma. i studied 24/7 in fifth year and stressed way too much (especially with english as i feel like i have to get a h1). i did get really good results for all of 5th year but i don’t think ill be able to handle 6th year if 5th year caused THAT much stress. i also suffer with a severe ED as well as ocd and im currently on meds. with all the academic pressure i put on myself and my mh issues i genuinely cant see myself surviving the LC and the horror stories im seeing are not helping. my only hope is that my hard work this year will have paid off and the study i’ve done over summer. i go to a grinds school which should also help but im here to ask if there is anyway i can avoid breaking down in 6th year while also getting over 550 points

girls series

am i the only one who found the parts of these books that mentioned the girls interest in boys kind of boring and tedious? i feel like all they did was drivel on about this boy and that boy etc😭 i also found russel to be INFURIATING. he was such a creep omg- not to mention that the representation of his first encounter with ellie was a completely unrealistic portrayal. i might get backlash for this but i really didn’t enjoy the fixation on boy. also i don’t think most 13 year old girls do that much stuff with boys

belgian malinois as service dog

saw a service dog yesterday and was surprised because i didn’t know belgian malinois made good service dogs! he was really calm and well behaved. off leash the whole time. i guess we learn something new everyday. does anyone else know another service dog of this breed?

mum making ed recovery more difficult

i have been trying to recover from my ed since june through FBT with camhs. my parents have been amazing at keeping me out of hospital and making sure i eat enough to get back on track. however i must admit my mum is very aggressive sometimes and says rather hurtful things. sometimes when i tell her what i’m having to eat she gets very critical and starts pushing for me to have more with a harsh tone. i know it comes from a nice place but i just think she could approach it differently since yelling at me never helps. my dad is much better at this and i much prefer the way he suggests for me to supplement a meal or snack if it’s not enough. there was even one incident where i was putting my lunch together and she was at my elbow with constant unhelpful commentary on what i was eating. she even removed some of the food i was plating up?! sometimes even i might fancy a certain food for snack and she’ll say “you have to have this instead” and it will have the same amount of energy but she is insistent that i have what SHE picks. i was even yelled at once for putting parmesan on my spaghetti. maybe she just wants to be in control? i’m not sure why she’s doing this but if anyone has advice on how to talk to her it would be much appreciated because she’s making recovery more difficult

camhs ed service

My teen daughter is currently in ED recovery and when we were referred to camhs we were given a sheet with lots of meal/ snack ideas. Unfortunately i managed to misplace the sheet and i can’t seem to find any resources online of the exact examples. i was wondering if anyone here had access to it and could somehow attach it in this sub. Thank you, from a disorganised mum of 5

best cheddar in ireland

i am a cheese enthusiast and i want to know which irish cheddar is the best. i’ve tried dubliner vintage, tesco finest, kilmedan, horgans, charleville and glenstal. i must admit i wasn’t a fan of horgans- not crumbly enough so my current irish favorite is the dubliner. it’s perfectly crumbly and intense. my overall favourite has got to be the m&s 3 year cornish cruncher (vintage) it’s perfect. pricey but worth it. i know there’s still many cheddars i haven’t tried so feel free to recommend your favourites, whether it’s branded or supermarkets own

irish food culture

after being to countries like france/italy/spain it seems like ireland has a much bigger fast food and takeaway culture compared to european neighbours. while the big fast food chains are obviously running there, stuff like chippers and Asian takeaways seem far more popular here in ireland. the restaurant situation is also pretty bad here compared to the fresh tasty authentic food served in italian or french places. i’ll probably get a lot of backlash for this but i feel like as a country, we need to address the obesity problem we have and stop normalising takeaways 2-3x a week while also recognising the amount of processed food sold in petrol stations, supermarkets etc that are far too normalised. irish people seem to snack more and eat low quality upf stuff. it’s definitely an issue and i feel like it isn’t talked about enough. does anyone agree?
