Does anyone have any deeper knowledge on throwing technique?
I just missed a shadow Snorlax because I couldn't get the curveball to go far enough. Bummer!
I know the main skill is to eyeball the pokemóns height and distance, and memorizing this for future throws. It's mostly intuitive, I get it. But still, I think that there must be some techniques and knowledge which can be expressed through language.
Here's my own half-baked throughs on the subject. Please show me yours!
My general feel is that there is a large degree of aim assist. Either that, or your throw is an illusion, where the game decide where the ball ends up, then calculate the curve of the throw.
I'm unsure if the position where you start the throw has any influence. It might have some influence on smaller targets (this would make physical sense) but I simply can't gauge this.
Regarding curveballs, I see two ways to go about it: A) move your finger in a super-small circle to activate the curve glimmer, then do a sudden swipe in the right direction, or B) Make a large stretched circle where the half where your finger moves roughly towards half past one (analog clock) fits your intended swipe, so that you can simply let go of the circle on its upper-right extremes.
Curve-balling close creatures requires you to swipe almost vertically, as opposite to creatures further away which requires sorta half past one.
It can sometimes be hard to gauge how big the creatures are. Look at the grass for comparison to get a sense of their scale.
