Polk R200 and L200 Speakers - Free To A Good Home - Chicagoland

***Message me if you want them. This is the last time I'm checking comments. First come, first serve in messages. Legends are pending pickup.***

Giving these away. Pickup only. Chicagoland (in the city, west side).

Perfectly functional. I also have a crossover upgrade kit for the Legends that I never installed. Plus a whole mess of speaker wire you can have.

I just don’t care to try selling them and having to ship.

Anyone interested in trading for some of Red Base 5692s? Located in IL - US.

All NOS, all matched pairs. I'm interested in smaller preamp tubes like Amperex 12A-7s, JD68/ECC88/6922s, or a couple sets of Ken Rad 6SN7 Black Glass.

Between the Valhalla 3 and the Lyr 5, I'm choosing the Valhalla

Preface: I'm not using stock tubes in either. The Valhalla is running Amperex 6922 Gold Pins and the Lyr 5 a RCA Red Base 5962. I'm also running them primarily as preamps on Sonus Faber Minima Amator IIs.

The Lyr sounds great. As a solid state amp it's very capable, but I also compared it (subjective listen) to my Jot 3 and the audible differences between them are so minimal that I'm not even sure they exist.

With the tube engaged the Lyr certainly sound tube-ish, but to my ear it sort of sounded flabby, which is not a typical characteristic of the Red Base 5692. I tried rolling in a few other 6SN7 (Psvane Summit, a Ken Rad black glass, Sylvania Tough Bad Boy) and though the tone shifts between them, everything leaned a bit slow and muddy feeling.

Meanwhile, the Valhalla delivers a VERY detailed and textured presentation that feels that more tangible. The sort of romantic realism you expect from a tube amplifier.

I think if I wasn't listening to them side by side, the Lyr would not disapoint. But such as it is... I'm choosing the Valhalla.

Anyone using the ModWright PH9.0 phono stage?

I went with the XT version for the tube rectified power supply and the upgraded transformers in the phono stage. This was an upgrade from the Pro-Ject Tube Box DS3 B phono stage, which was already a pretty high bar in my opinion. The PH9.0 blew me away. Other worldly stuff.

Well aware of the debate over cabling and power cord stuff, but I'd like to hear from someone with experience. Should I upgrade the umbilical power cord to the premium offering from ModWright?

Also, before you come at me about stacked gear, know I have little fans running behind them to circulate air and the tubes on the Analog Bridge Tube Buffer are exposed to open air behind the shelf. No perceptible interference either.

Y'all remember when I said I'd buy one of those Clone McIntosh MC275s and send it to a YouTuber for a sciencey breakdown, compare and review? Well, I did it and Erin's Audio Corner hooked us up with the science.

Anyone running a Dragon Inspire IHA-1 and using it as a preamp? Is gain staging difficult, or is the pre-out pretty tame?

I want to put one of these in my main setup.

Big time Christone "Kingfish" Ingram fan. Looking for more modern blues

Admittedly my knowledge of blues is pretty limited. Lifelong Chicagoan, so Chess Records stuffs is in constant rotation on my turntable, but I'm looking to get into more modern artists.

I gotta ask - does this ever work for these inbox pirates offering "tattoo designs"

Who's out here accepting tattoo ideas from random Reddit accounts DMing them? Accordingly.

Logo from my first band. I want to get them covered and relocate one. Can these be covered up successfully?

These are like 20yrs old. The checkered one is the logo from my first band and these are the first tattoo I ever got. For those reasons, I want to get one relocated (redone elsewhere on my body) after having them covered in favor of a bigger chest rig.
