Jason Schreier: Assembly layoffs were part of an agency-wide reorganization, not Xbox contract cuts

Following earlier reports, Jason Schreier says today’s layoffs at Assembly were part of an internal agency-wide reorganization and were not related to Xbox ending contracts.

While some employees working on the Xbox account were affected, he said Assembly will continue working with Xbox.

Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron sued over alleged RAM price-fixing

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron, accusing the three companies of working together to restrict the supply of DDR3 and DDR4 memory while fixing prices.

NateTheHate says none of his contacts are aware of a physical disc version for GTA VI

His comments align with a recent report from THR which claimed Rockstar currently has no plans to release a disc version of GTA VI beyond the code-in-a-box edition.

The post has Grain of Salt flair because Nate specifically mentioned in the comment that he hasn’t reached a solid conclusion on the situation yet.

NateTheHate says GTA VI’s November release may have affected the timing of the RDR2 PS5 update

Responding to questions about the update, Nate said:

“Or plans changed once GTA6 maintained its release for Nov. The game can sit in a finished state & release whenever Rockstar needs/wants.”

“If GTA were delayed, RDR2 could have been used to soften the blow. With no delay… they can hold RDR2 now.”

This is purely a logical speculation from Nate since he is a very informed person that’s why it’s not in a “rumour/leak” flair.

I find these two reviews to be very interesting

In IGN reviews they made the price of the Switch 2 as a way to deduct points of the system’s review when they used the Steam Machine’s as a way to justify why it’s “great”.

I understand IGN has different reviewers and no hate for either of the reviewers i just found these to be hilarious lol.

Insider Gaming reports that Ubisoft has closed Winnipeg studio with dozens laid off

The report suggests around 85 employees are affected.

The layoffs are also said to be impacting multiple in-development projects across Ubisoft’s wider network of studios, including teams outside the main site.

Among those affected is reportedly Ubisoft Montreal.

Edit: Insider Gaming has updated the story with the following information

Around 120 developers working on Rainbow Six Siege, along with roughly 50 more working on Rainbow Six Siege Mobile and an unannounced project, have been ramped off.

Following the report, several affected employees have also confirmed on LinkedIn that they were let go.

Ubisoft Winnipeg, which opened in 2018 as a support studio focused on open-world development, had contributed to titles including Rainbow Six Siege, XDefiant, Far Cry 6, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla over its eight year run.
