🍉 I built a PWA that helps you pick the perfect watermelon using sound analysis and visual cues – Melon Whisperer
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a fun and practical
Progressive Web App I've been working on
called Melon Whisperer(西瓜挑選器).It's
designed to solve the age-old grocery store mystery: Is this watermelon actually ripe?
How it works:
- Acoustic Ripeness Detector: You tap/pat the watermelon, and the PWA uses the device microphone to capture the frequency (e.g., detecting if it hits that sweet, deep, and hollow ~117 Hz zone).
- Visual Checklist: It walks you through key physical traits to check for, like a deep yellow field spot, a dry brown stem, and prominent, dark-defined stripes.
- Combined Score: It calculates an overall rating out of 10 to give you a definitive "Buy it!" or skip recommendation.
PWA Features Built-In:
• Fully responsive Ul with language switching support (English/Chinese).
• Web Audio API utilization for real-time frequency processing.
• Lightweight, fast, and installable right to your home screen so it's ready to go offline next time you're in the produce aisle.
Here is a quick 18-second clip of it in action: https://youtube.com/sshorts/9p2vOVPmu8A

Would love to hear your thoughts on the UI/UX or any feedback on the audio capture implementation!

Finally, this has come to our neighbourhood. How many local police stations have been shut down in the past two years? Has any suburb managed to make the government change its mind?
